From an outside perspective, Cail simply touched the necklace and stared blankly into the air. For some reason, all of them held their breath as they waited for something to happen.
Just as they thought there would be some grand spectacle, the man in glasses suddenly kicked the table, breaking one of its legs and causing the necklace to tumble to the ground.
Cail finally snapped out of the enchantment; his gaze was colder than before. He bent down and picked up the necklace, not caring that others were watching, and stashed it in his space.
Seeing the leader agape, Cail tried to calm his anger, but it was still evident in his tone.
"Tell your Lord that the mission has failed. Go back. If he asks why, tell him the necklace is sentient."
Cail grabbed a seat, crossed his arms, and rubbed his head. During that encounter, despite the woman's beauty, all Cail could feel was a sense of annoyance. He hated anyone invading his personal space.
