Weiwei had long known Ace possessed the Haoshoku Haki. She was prepared, so it didn't surprise her when it finally clashed.

Ace, on the other hand, was stunned. His casual expression almost cracked. What was going on? He'd just run into a woman on the beach—how could she also have Haoshoku Haki? Wasn't this the so-called "King's Disposition" that only one in a million people had?

Haoshoku was excellent for overwhelming small fry, but in a head-on clash like this, it consumed stamina rapidly. When Weiwei had only thirty percent of her Haki left, she sheathed her blade, tapped her toes, and retreated ten meters. The battle intent in her eyes faded just as Ace withdrew his flames before exhausting his strength.

It looked like a draw.

Weiwei wasn't sure if Ace had any trump card left, but she hadn't used her vampire form or her prestige skill either.

She got straight to the point: "Hey, fire-spitter, you got a Den Den Mushi?"

Ace did have one onboard, but his ship had taken heavy damage climbing Wano's waterfall. The Den Den Mushi had been struck hard. At this point, it was barely hanging on—not that it could make a call even if it wanted to.

Weiwei was still worried about Karoo. She figured it'd be a hassle getting entangled with Ace, but still asked, "When does your ship leave? Where are you heading? Can I hitch a ride?"

Ace looked at her, confused. "Aren't you from Wano? Why do you want to sail with pirates?"

"I'm not becoming a pirate. I just need a lift."

Ace and his co-captain, the young ship doctor Mascud Deuce, exchanged a glance.

Then Ace said proudly, "We're going to Onigashima. I'm going to take Kaido's head—and become one of the Four Emperors!"

Weiwei stared at him, unimpressed. You can't even beat me, and you think you can take down Kaido? Are you dreaming? But after studying his expression, she realized—he wasn't joking.

Immediately, her interest vanished. "...That was just a joke. Why would I leave Wano? If I leave Wano, I'll get sick. Goodbye."

She returned to the Flower Capital, continuing her work as a bloodletting doctor, waiting for the next batch of travelers to arrive in Wano.

After their fight, Ace didn't seem to dwell on it, but his confidence had clearly taken a hit.

Under the pretense of repairing his ship, he remained in Bianli Village. Each day before sunrise, he trained in the mountains. The villagers often spotted flaming peaks and wild beasts fleeing through the forest.

Sometimes, he chatted idly with the villagers, fascinated by their craft of making straw hats.

Weiwei brought little Ayu back to the capital and made sure she had no contact with Ace. Forget that flirtatious shinobi—his flashy face wouldn't last long. Better she stay grounded and study medicine.

After two days, not only had Ace's Den Den Mushi failed to recover—it had gone completely limp, its head tilted in death. Weiwei was beyond exasperated.

"Come with me and challenge Kaido," Ace proposed, having trained for two days and regained some confidence. "If we join forces, taking down a Yonko won't be that hard."

"Are you sick? You seriously need a brain check. You can't even gauge your own strength. I don't want you to think—I want me to think!" Weiwei waved her hands dismissively.

But Ace's next words gave her pause.

"I don't know where your crew is, but you know how unstable the magnetic fields in the New World are. It's hard for normal Den Den Mushi to connect across regions. Even if mine were still alive, we probably couldn't reach your people. But Kaido—he definitely has wide-range Den Den Mushi."

Weiwei hesitated. She worried Karoo might try to find her, running from one end of the world while she traveled the other. They could completely miss each other.

It had only been a few days apart from her duck, but it felt like months. Without him, nothing felt right. Worse, all the attributes she used to gather were gone—it was like losing a hundred million in treasure every day.

One hundred million a day... two hundred million in two days... who could stand that?

She was wavering.

Then Ace added: "You don't have to fight Kaido. Just hold off his officers—I'll take care of Kaido myself."

Could Weiwei take on the Tobi Roppo or the Calamities? Maybe she could last a few rounds in a one-on-one, but a group battle? She'd be overwhelmed for sure.

She remembered Oden's one-hour execution—standing in boiling oil, smiling through the pain. Weiwei could never understand that kind of self-sacrifice. She'd stopped following the Wano arc after that. Most of the follow-up plot was a blur now.

Still, she asked: "Are you really sure about this? You're dead set on Kaido?"

"Yes."

"You came to the New World just for him? No obstacles? No one tried to change your mind or mess with your route?"

Ace was confused by the questions but answered honestly: "Nope. I've come all this way on my own. You mean the Marines?"

Weiwei thought hard. If there were no outside forces steering this path, then maybe this was a safe detour. After all, if Ace really tried to challenge Kaido with his current strength, he'd die on the spot—and then the whole timeline would shift. No Ace, no Summit War in three years.

Unlike Big Mom, who stayed home baking and birthing kids, Kaido was rarely around. He wandered often, barely at his base.

Weiwei guessed Ace wouldn't meet Kaido at all. No physical, emotional, or spiritual trauma awaited him—this "mission" might be safe.

Besides, Kaido's base wasn't scary if you could fly—and she had plenty of escape methods. Staying in Wano any longer felt like a waste. After weighing the risks, she made her decision.

At the very least, she could steal a Den Den Mushi.

"I'll go," she said at last. "But I'm only helping with Kaido's officers. You're on your own with Kaido himself."

"Perfect! That's exactly how I want it! Just wait till I become one of the Four Emperors—don't be jealous!" Ace laughed loudly.

At the agreed time, everyone made their final preparations. One night later, under the cover of darkness, Weiwei boarded Ace's ship and left Wano's main island.

Onigashima wasn't far. On clear days, you could even see its silhouette from Wano's coast.

This time, Ace showed a bit more maturity. Knowing he wasn't yet the strongest, he didn't charge in guns blazing. Instead, taking advantage of a nighttime storm, they slipped quietly onto the island of demons—Onigashima.
