[Your race "Human" has changed to "Demiurgic Archangel."]

[Due to external interference, your complete ascension as a Demiurgic Archangel was not possible.]

[The ascension to "Demiurgic Archangel" has failed.]

[Your race has been updated: "Human" → "Demiurgic Nephilim."]

[Compensation enabled.]

[You are granted the privilege to choose your Divine Gift, since the system failed to complete your ascension as a Demiurgic Archangel.]

Satoru looked at the system screen with a smile.

Just as he had foreseen, the Presence would not allow him to become a Demiurgic Archangel: that "external interference" could only be the work of God Himself.

From the beginning, his goal upon entering this world had been to ascend from "Human" to "Demiurgic Archangel," although becoming a Demiurgic Nephilim wasn't a bad option either.

Demiurgic Archangels occupied the highest rank in the Celestial Hierarchy, just below their father, the Presence, also known as God.

Satoru had already expected that it wouldn't be so easy to become one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

The Demiurgic Archangels themselves—Michael, Samael, and Gabriel—were created at the dawn of time by God, who entrusted them with the responsibility of creation.

Samael, who would later be known as Lucifer, was given the task of shaping the universe.

That fact alone made clear how powerful a Demiurgic Archangel was.

Satoru felt it was a pity to become just a Nephilim, but the feeling quickly passed.

His true goal was to obtain a Divine Gift and the advantages possessed by angels, the children of God.

Smiling, Satoru paid no attention to his surroundings: there was nothing around him, only an infinite white space, with no limits in sight.

Wasting no time, he opened the selection window the system had given him to choose his Divine Gift.

But before he could do so...

"Are you having fun?" Satoru shivered upon hearing the voice of another person behind him.

Almost as if it had heard his thoughts, the voice spoke again.

"The precise term would be to say I am everywhere."

Satoru looked around, but found no one.

Only then did he know who he was dealing with.

"I was wondering when you'd appear. I thought you were going to destroy me the moment I set foot in your universe."

Satoru received no immediate reply. A few minutes passed before the voice spoke again.

"I receive visitors from other universes more often than I'd like. But I've never had one who tried to become one of my children."

The Presence's tone was neutral; Satoru couldn't tell whether He was angry or not.

"I have no intention of causing trouble. I also didn't mean to offend you by changing my race to a Demiurgic Nephilim..."

The Presence interrupted Satoru before he could continue.

"If not for my interference, you would have managed to become a Demiurgic Archangel. That would have endangered my universe."

Satoru clenched his fists upon hearing those words.

Now, finally, he knew that God was angry.

The Wrath of God—the Presence—had never brought anything good throughout existence.

"I'm not angry. I'm just curious."

The Presence perceived his thoughts and decided to clear up the misunderstanding.

"Curious? About what exactly...?" Satoru asked, his voice slightly trembling.

He hugged Gege tightly, trying to control his nerves.

After all, he was in front of an Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent being.

In front of God Himself, the Creator of the Universe. The creator of the DC Universe.

How could he not be nervous? How could he not feel fear?

Satoru felt insignificant before the Presence, as if his existence barely held any weight in the vast universe.

He felt like a speck of dust in the immensity.

He could lose his life with a single mistake. And yet, fortunately, the Presence didn't seem upset by his incursion into this universe.

"I'm curious about the existence hiding behind you. The same one that allowed you to access my universe and approach the level of one of my children..."

The Presence's voice gave him goosebumps, more because of what it said than how it said it.

"What existence...?" Satoru frowned, puzzled.

Who—or what—the hell was He referring to?

Could it be the system? Or perhaps He was talking about that unknown force that had made him reincarnate? He had no idea. He didn't even remember meeting anyone who fit that description.

But Satoru had always known: his reincarnation had not been the result of chance.

It hadn't been a mere stroke of luck, but something deliberate.

"He is angry about my interference..." the Presence said, almost in a whisper "...and that's bad."

The white space surrounding Satoru trembled slightly, flickering for a brief moment.

"…"

The Presence remained silent for a long time, long enough to make Satoru uncomfortable, who anxiously awaited more information about that mysterious existence.

Finally, the Presence spoke again. The content of His words made Satoru blink in confusion.

"You may enter my universe. Do as you please. You only need to abide by the Rules of the Angels."

Satoru was surprised to notice the unexpected change in stance.

Although the Presence had said He wasn't angry, Satoru had perceived the opposite.

He expected to be expelled from that universe forever, but suddenly, after that strange and prolonged silence, he was granted permission.

What the hell was happening? Had the System done something? Or was it that unknown entity behind him…?

Now, Satoru couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.

It was as if hundreds of eyes were upon him, as if his life were completely exposed, like the open pages of a book.

He didn't feel right.

"Do you know the Rules of the Angels?" the Presence asked.

Satoru frowned. Why ask questions?

Wasn't He Omniscient? Surely He already knew the answer.

"That would be a bad habit…" the Presence added, anticipating his thought.

Satoru rolled his eyes but remained silent.

He was still facing God, after all.

And the Wrath of God wasn't something he wanted to mess with.

"I know them," Satoru responded with a slight nod.

The Rules of the Angels were simple. Sacred. Unbreakable. Imposed by God Himself.

An angel could not take a human life.

They also had the duty to guide humanity along the path of good, steering them away from sin.

"You won't be punished for breaking the second rule," the Presence added. "Many of my children don't follow it either."

Satoru was sure the Presence was referring specifically to Lucifer.

"But never, under any circumstances, take a human life. That rule only applies in my universe. You can do as you wish once you leave."

Satoru let out a sigh of relief.

For a moment, he thought that limitation would be permanent.

He had been scared because of it.

"So... can I leave?" he asked cautiously.

The Presence didn't respond with words, but the white space that enveloped him faded away.

Satoru blinked and found himself standing in the middle of a city: Los Angeles.

He smiled instantly.

He was finally in a world with technology. With internet.

He didn't care how dangerous the DC Universe was.

Nor how close he was to LUX, Lucifer Morningstar's nightclub.

He could finally enjoy, even if just for a while, the technology he had missed so much.

And, for God's sake... sex. The second thing he missed the most.

He looked at his reflection in a nearby store window and smiled, delighted with his appearance.

He had set his age at 27 years.

The Nobility System granted him automatic funds upon arriving in a new world, so he had a legal identity, his own house, and more than enough money to live comfortably for quite some time.

He decided to go straight to a store and buy a phone.

And a computer too...

That was VERY important.
