"Nooo!" The words escaped my lips, echoing through the entire air as I jumped to my feet.
My heart raced. My fingers fisted the sheets beneath me; soft, unfamiliar, sterile. Images from the night crashed into me like waves I couldn't escape.
The air stung with disinfectant and injections, sharp enough to curl my stomach. A blue-striped curtain swayed slightly in the air, casting thin shadows. The machines, the calmness in the room.
I was in a hospital.
Then it was all a nightmare. I heaved a brief sigh of relief as my heart settled on the face of that mysterious woman.
But why do I keep seeing her in my dreams so often? Who truly is she? Those questions lingered in my heart as I remembered asking her how to repay the favor, but she had said I should reserve my strength for someday.
What the hell did she mean? Someday? When is someday? Why does it feel like it's already here?
