One officer gave a short nod, and the other disappeared. A moment later, he returned, dragging in a man who looked like he'd crawled through hell.
His face was a mess of bruises, dried blood caked along the collar of his shirt, and his hair disheveled.
"She's the one," the guy pointed as soon as he stepped into the living room.
"Ahhh," came the shouts again.
"She had sent me to tamper with the brakes to get Alex, her husband, involved in an accident and also eliminate one Miss Anna to keep a secret," the guy stated firmly.
"No, that can't be true, young man. I don't know you. I have never met you before. What are you saying?" I shot back, unable to hold back the loud murmurs that erupted in the room and the shock it all held.
By now, the music was all gone. Everywhere was filled with loud, accusing murmurs that seemed to cling to my body like a second cloth.
"When we get to the station, you will know better," the officer stated as he walked over toward me.
