Chapter 48 - CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

Chesca quietly gazed at the dense forest from her room back then. She has already arrived, and she must make the most of her visit.

Thalia is here. She might get hurt in this forest. Her worry echoed in her mind.

Fernan's companion at the time brought her here, but he immediately left her alone. She took a deep breath first. She will go out to look around; it is better for her to move at night because she knows that unexpected events happen at night.

Her childhood struggles came back to her mind; Chesca would search for something that her mother had kept safe. She had three pieces of evidence to find: first, the notebook that her father had; second, the evidence hidden by her mother; and third, the evidence hidden by Fernan.

She knew that before the person who helped her escape passed away, he had buried a piece of evidence that her brother Giovane was searching for.

Chesca sighed in that moment and immediately left her hiding place. Her cousin and companion instructed her to wear a tracking device, ensuring prompt detection in case of any emergency.

She should not be dependent on those who help her; she will willingly end her father's greed.

With the help of the moonlight, she sees her destination, and she remembers the times when they, as siblings, wandered around this forest, escaping their father's violence.

She can only cry when she remembers the events that would end the lives of her beloved siblings.

Chesca, you need to be strong; you have to be resilient for your siblings. That's all that echoed in her mind while holding back the tears that were rushing down her cheeks.

She caught sight of a shadow, so she immediately hid under the shade of a tree. She was alarmed that this might be an enemy or a member of her brother's organization. She heard a scream, which startled her; she carefully traced the path where the shadow she saw was standing.

There, she heard voices, people laughing.

"Don't. I have a family. I have a family waiting for me." That was the voice of a woman that Chesca heard.

She was surprised, so she peeked; a woman appeared before her eyes, a woman in her 20s.

The men just laughed at her then.

"Miss, make us rich again." One of them even said.

Chesca saw the woman pull the woman's hair and hurt another woman, who could only cry because her hands were tied; therefore, she held her hand at that moment to feel the tightness of the ropes binding it.

"Boss, is that okay now?" This one asked.

"Hmm? Not terrible, not bad." Chesca didn't even need to look to see who was speaking.

This man is her brother. "Is that a virgin?" Giovane asked.

"Yes, boss, fresh from the farm." Again, she heard the laughter of the men, and Giovane also joined in .

"Okay, take her to the warehouse; there are many customers waiting to be pleased with this woman. They request a virgin woman; they're greedy as hell." He couldn't help but say it, and Chesca heard him sigh.

"Take care of that; it's our goods. They will feast on it until they get exhausted." He even said.

She heard them walk away, and the only thing she heard was the voice of the woman asking for help.

She covered her ears, remembering everything again about the warehouse it was talking about.

She looked around and suddenly fell silent. That woman they caught also works as a prostitute in the warehouse, which only the big shots use. She feels nauseated by those people.

Her hands trembled.

Calm down, Chesca. Calm down? She thought to herself back then. She swallowed again, peeking. She caught a glimpse of a shadow then. She looked closely. The sudden removal of the hood surprised her.

Ericka? She questioned in her mind. She just shook her head and looked again. She is really not mistaken about what she is seeing now.

What is Ericka doing here? She thought to herself at that moment. Chesca was about to come out of hiding, but suddenly Ericka disappeared from her sight.

She immediately searched for her, and there, she saw her following the men.

Ericka would be in danger if she went to the warehouse. Alarm, she said to herself back then. That's why she secretly followed her. She needed to stop Ericka from getting close to the warehouse because she knew in her heart that once they set foot there, she knew they wouldn't come out alive.

She followed, and Ericka followed. She didn't notice where they were; they were lost, so she kept looking around. Chesca suddenly swallowed. She is back at the warehouse again. She observed it closely.

Yes, Ericka! She abruptly reminded herself that the reason she found herself here was because she had been trailing Ericka. Chesca immediately searched, glancing around, until she caught sight of Ericka hiding in the shade of a tree; she knew from her actions that she was determined to enter the warehouse.

She scanned the surroundings to see if any members of the organization were lurking nearby. She was afraid of being caught saving a life back then. She won't let anyone get hurt again.

She approached Ericka with great caution back then, but Ericka didn't notice her because she was also busy watching if there were any people around.

She shouldn't scare Ericka; they were both hiding under the tree's shade, and the moonlight was the only light on the dark path.

She noticed that Ericka was about to charge and enter the warehouse, so she quickly grabbed her arm.

"Ericka!" Chesca instantly halted its intended actions.

Ericka, alarmed by the sound of her name, prepared to attack Chesca. As for her, she wouldn't be able to withstand the attack Ericka would give her because she was holding her back.

Good thing their eyes met. Ericka couldn't hide what she saw either; she quickly recovered from the attack she was about to make when she caught sight of her.

"Ruth?" Ericka immediately asked her.

They heard a rustling sound, so they immediately hid and watched who was approaching their hiding place now.

Ericka looked at her with full curiosity, but before anything else, they needed to escape from the place where they were.

Ericka pulled her , and as she pulled her, a man appeared and immediately blocked their way.

Their back-and-forth glances at them surprised Ericka. The man immediately pulled them, and they traversed the forest in silence.
