"Oh, what a tenacious Elekid..."

Chloe sighed as she recalled her Primeape back to its Poké Ball.

She watched the young man walking toward the battlefield with complicated feelings.

Even his newest Pokémon, this Elekid...

I really can't catch up anymore...

If she had lost this battle to someone else, she would have been furious by now. But losing to Roy only left her feeling a little depressed.

Roy walked into the arena and returned Elekid to its Poké Ball. He glanced at Lucario and Wartortle, who were silently standing nearby trying to look innocent, and said with annoyance: "Wartortle, you... Never mind. And Lucario, I can't believe you joined in this mischief too."

Lucario, usually so well-behaved, lowered his head in shame.

Wartortle: ???

What did he mean by "never mind"?

Was that sentence serious?

Even small words could hurt so much.

"How did you end up in a battle?" Roy asked.

Lucario explained that they had simply come here to challenge others, and there had been no conflict.

"That's good. Let's go—we need to get Elekid treated first."

After confirming that his Pokémon hadn't caused any trouble, Roy relaxed and patted both the canine and turtle Pokémon on their heads, not expecting them to be so independent.

To ensure prompt treatment for injured Pokémon, the medical room was located very close to the battlefield. After just two minutes of walking, Roy arrived at the medical room and handed Elekid's Poké Ball to the senior student on duty.

The senior placed Elekid's Poké Ball into the healing machine while chatting with him.

"I really envy you, junior. You don't need to earn credits at all. I've been on duty these past few days with irregular hours, and I've gained weight twice."

"Really, twice the weight?" Roy asked, surprised. "Then senior, you should eat more—you're still too skinny."

"You and your sweet talk..."

Throughout the university—in the battlefield, the library, and the medical room—many of those on duty were Capital University students earning credits.

Credits could be exchanged for TMs, Pokémon food, items, training room time, and more.

For Trainers from ordinary families, credits were equivalent to resources and extremely important.

In this regard, both the government and the university were quite generous. Students only needed to contribute some labor to earn valuable resources. To put it plainly, this work would earn only about 4,000 to 5,000 Pokédollars in the outside world—not even enough to pay a Pokémon Breeder.

Recommended students, however, enjoyed all these privileges without needing to earn credits.

Ironically, except for training room access, recommended students rarely used their privileges. They typically had better options.

The same was true for Roy. Whether for teaching moves to his Pokémon or obtaining food and items, he had better alternatives.

While Roy was chatting with the senior student to pass the time and waiting for Elekid's treatment to finish, a familiar figure entered through the door.

From a distance, Professor Christian waved to Roy. "Why didn't you let me know you were coming to the university? I just found out from the forum!"

"It was unexpected," Roy explained what had happened and added, "I was planning to find you after Elekid recovered."

"You caught that Elekid?"

Professor Christian, like everyone else, couldn't understand why Roy, a promising Trainer, would want to catch an obviously flawed Pokémon.

However, after thinking about it, he surprisingly didn't question it further.

"I'll wait here with you," Professor Christian said with a smile. "I just called the laboratory, and all the procedures are in place. We're just waiting for you to come by. By the way, the code name for the tube virus reagent is D, commonly referred to as the D-virus."

"D-virus..."

When Roy heard this name, he couldn't help feeling like he might turn into a zombie. He asked, "Professor, why aren't you asking me why I caught Elekid? Aren't you curious?"

"I'm definitely curious," Professor Christian smiled slightly. "I just think that an outstanding student like you must have your own plans and considerations. I still doubt Elekid's potential, but I trust your judgment... Because you've never disappointed anyone. Instead, you've repeatedly surprised countless people."

"I sincerely hope that your choice this time will impress me in the end."

Roy had to admit that scholars really had a way with praise.

Professor Christian hadn't used any complex terminology, yet his words carried dignity. He praised Roy highly without seeming flattering—it felt like he was simply stating facts.

Roy felt a little embarrassed.

Before he could offer a few modest words in response, Professor Christian continued:

"To be honest, as a teacher, I haven't really taught you much knowledge. Some people attribute your outstanding performance to my guidance. I feel both proud and undeserving... But this time is different. I might actually be able to give you some valuable advice about breeding Elekid."

"Advice?"

Roy was slightly taken aback, suddenly remembering something.

When he had called Professor Christian seeking ways to 'train mental power,' the professor had mentioned that he specialized in the 'Electric-type' and 'Fighting-type' departments but wasn't knowledgeable about mental power, so he had introduced Roy to Elite Carter, which led to obtaining the 'unlimited' Calm Mind technique.

Electric-type and Fighting-type departments—?

This was exactly what Elekid needed...

"I have some research findings in the field of Electric-type energy."

Professor Christian spoke confidently, stroking his beard casually. "A few years ago, the Pokémon League awarded me the 'Zapdos Badge,' which is a small recognition of my work..."

Old show-off... Normally, Roy would have thought this, but at the moment he was genuinely pleased.

Any title named after a Legendary Pokémon represented a top honor in the field.

The Zapdos Badge undoubtedly symbolized the League's recognition of a leading research master in the Electric-type department.

Roy never expected that such an authority on Electric-types had been by his side all along.

He immediately told Professor Christian everything about Elekid.

"Zekrom? Teravolt Ability?"

Professor Christian frowned and muttered, "What nonsense is this? Are you sure it's an Electric-type Legendary? Why haven't I heard of it?"

Roy: "..."

The two looked at each other, and the atmosphere became awkward for a moment.

Roy was embarrassed because he genuinely didn't know that 'Zekrom' hadn't yet been discovered in this world. Legendary Pokémon were distant figures, and the internet was full of rumors. In some remote regions, even Mythical Pokémon were worshipped as 'gods'... Only top Trainers and researchers possessed accurate information about Legendary Pokémon.

Professor Christian felt that he had just boasted about his expertise only to be immediately stumped. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, he asked, "Tell me more about this Zekrom carefully."

"This is what I read from the Illuminati research log. Zekrom is a..."

Roy shared what he knew about Zekrom, blaming the information on the Illuminati.

After all, their battlefield had long been incinerated by Dragonite, so there was no way to verify anything.

"The Dragon of Ideals, alien lightning that nullifies abilities, the supreme thunder god..."

Professor Christian murmured in amazement.

He hadn't expected Elekid's condition to stem from such an extraordinary background.

If this problem could be solved, it would mean that Elekid could master godly Electric-type power, with truly limitless potential. Roy believed this too...

Professor Christian understood and became excited.

For a research master in the Electric-type field, overcoming the challenge of "Teravolt" would bring a sense of accomplishment and honor no less significant than a mathematician proving Goldbach's conjecture...

The pursuit of a lifetime.
