In the dream, Roy gazed at Rayquaza. Unlike the mere ten-meter length depicted on TV, the Rayquaza before him stretched at least a hundred meters long, with only half its upper body visible above the clouds.

More striking was Rayquaza's special form—its skin gleamed like emerald, emitting a sublime light. A delta-shaped pattern (▲) adorned its forehead, while golden ribbon-like structures fluttered in the wind across its body.

'Mega Rayquaza... or rather, Primal Reversion.'

Roy recognized the transformation.

There were two conditions for a Trainer to enable Pokémon Mega Evolution.

First, a deep bond—the union of psychic energy.

In this regard, Roy and Lucario had actually reached the standard.

Their inability to achieve Mega Evolution stemmed from the second requirement.

—Immense life energy.

In "The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie," when Diancie sought Mega Evolution, Xerneas, the embodiment of life power, stated that life energy was the key to completing evolution.

Where did this enormous life energy come from?

—The answer: from a Pokémon's specific Mega Stone and the Key Stone held by its Trainer.

The Pokémon held the Mega Stone while the Trainer possessed the Key Stone. The two stones resonated through their bond, releasing the vast life energy contained within and channeling it into the Pokémon's body. This stimulated the dormant potential within, completing the so-called Mega Evolution.

Therefore, not every Pokémon could Mega Evolve.

Only those with untapped potential hidden inside them.

This potential either originated from the Pokémon's genetic "future" or its genetic "past."

This explained why some Pokémon had distinct 'X' and 'Y' Mega forms.

Mega Evolution was suited only for battle, not survival, making it temporary... Like dinosaurs, whose fighting prowess surpassed humans but couldn't adapt to Earth's environment.

Rayquaza's Primal Reversion was the latter type—a power from the ancient past...

It had restored its true form from prehistoric times.

This transformation placed tremendous strain on Rayquaza, only manifesting when facing exceptionally difficult battles, Roy thought.

'Who is Rayquaza's enemy? Is it me in the dream... Deoxys?'

Roy quickly dismissed the idea.

Because, in the next dream moment, a violent pressure suddenly overwhelmed him.

The atmosphere was compressing.

At some point, the airflow began to envelop the rapidly flying Deoxys, completely immobilizing it.

Mega Rayquaza descended from the heavens, jaws filled with fangs.

"GYAOOOO--!"

As the dragon's roar echoed, destructive energy gathered in Rayquaza's maw.

Hyper Beam struck Deoxys without fail.

Roy could feel Deoxys's excruciating pain and mortal fear through the dream connection...

Clearly, Deoxys stood no chance against Mega Rayquaza.

So who was the enemy that forced Rayquaza into Primal Reversion?

Roy wondered.

The dream continued.

After Deoxys was defeated in seconds, it didn't die immediately but clung to its last vestiges of life.

Mega Rayquaza ignored the dying alien, anxiously flying toward another battlefield.

The sky above that battlefield was split—half crimson, half dark blue.

A clear division between two mighty forces.

'Must be Groudon and Kyogre...'

The presence of those two ancient Legendaries would indeed warrant Rayquaza's Primal Reversion.

But Roy still felt something was off...

Stopping Groudon and Kyogre's fighting was merely a routine task for Rayquaza, something it did every millennium.

The experienced Legendary should have been more composed...

Why rush to kill Deoxys first, then hurry anxiously to the battlefield?

At that moment, the scene before Roy suddenly blurred.

The dream shifted.

Deoxys inhabited a cluster of asteroids. Occasionally, during quiet moments, it would gaze at a blue planet somewhat similar to Earth.

Roy knew this was likely the Pokémon world.

One day, a sudden change occurred.

Deoxys observed a large area of the blue planet being swallowed by darkness, as an immense energy erupted from the surface.

Even at such a distance, Deoxys could sense the terrifying magnitude of this power—enough to destroy worlds.

For Roy, who had experienced two dream sequences, he could compare this power to Mega Rayquaza.

The comparison revealed that Mega Rayquaza's might paled in comparison to whatever wielded this power.

Having past connections to this planet, Deoxys couldn't remain idle and flew toward it.

The dream shifted again.

In an instant, Deoxys arrived in the upper atmosphere of the Pokémon planet.

Half the entire planet was shrouded in "dark night."

In the darkened sky, a massive black vortex formed.

At the vortex's center hovered a gigantic dragon-shaped Pokémon.

It consisted of a red-light emitting substance with deep purple exoskeleton-like armor attached to it, resembling a keel. Its triangular head wore a translucent red membrane with five long spines extending backward.

An earth-shattering energy emanated from its body, enveloping the entire planet.

Humans on the ground were terrified, shocked, and spiteful, chanting its name.

—Giratina.

The Supreme God from the Distortion World.

Unlike the extreme darkness here, the other half of the planet shone with endless light.

Deoxys flew across the sky, its psychic power scanning the earth, learning about the source of the light from humans.

—Ultra Necrozma.

The Supreme God from another dimension, another world.

These two otherworldly deities ruthlessly ravaged the Pokémon planet, claiming countless human and Pokémon lives.

Their strength, for reasons unknown, was unprecedented.

No Trainer on the ground could resist their divine might.

No one could challenge the tyranny of these gods.

Finally, their power awakened the creator of the Pokémon world and summoned back this planet's supreme deity.

—Arceus.

Even among gods, the three strongest supreme beings returned simultaneously for unknown reasons.

This was the catalyst for the Pokémon world's destruction.

The moment Roy realized this, the scene before him blurred. His consciousness gradually cleared as he regained control of his limbs.

"You're awake."

Professor Christian's voice completely pulled Roy from that mythical battle.
