It was a full moon.
Elise was running, her feet pounding against the earth as the wolves closed in.
Could this be the end?… she thought to herself.
Running as fast as her legs could carry her with her heart in her chest.
Then she thought about Kai.
Would he miss her if she died now?
What was she even thinking?
She was on the verge of death and all she could think about was Kai.
She and her delusional thoughts!
Before she knew it, a wolf met up with her.
Pouncing on her, making her loose her balance. Hence, she fell off a cliff. .
It felt like an endless one, and Elise could feel her body brushing off her skin.
Suddenly, a hand touched her shoulder and Elise's eyes snapped open.
She was gasping for air. Her heart racing.
Kai was standing over her. Staring at her with eyes full of worries.
"It's okay, it's just a dream". He whispered with concern in his voice.
Bringing her to seat, he hugged her while brushing her hair with his hands repeatedly.
"I'm here, you don't have to be scared". He reassured her.
Elise just focused on catching her breath.
She always ended up having nightmares about traumatic experiences that occurred in the past.
She knew this was a result of what had happened at the ball that night, so she didn't bother to say anything about it.
After she felt like she could talk, she started to say something while wondering when and how Kai was able to enter the room.
She was sure she locked the door.
Or maybe not, since she didn't know when she slept off.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…" she started saying, while Kai cut her off immediately.
"You don't have to apologize, I'm always here for you". He said, still brushing her hair with his hands.
"The pack!" Elise exclaimed, looking at the moon outside. It must be time already, she said, breaking the hug.
"Relax, it won't start till I'm there". There's no need to rush, okay?. Kai said, rubbing her shoulders.
"Thank you",she said, standing up to change for the meeting.
"I'll be outside". Kai said, stepping out.

As they walked to the pack's gathering place, Elise could feel the weight of everyone's gaze on her shoulders.
She felt so nervous that she wished she could enter the ground or somewhere no one could see her.
Noticing this, Kai put her hand in his, rubbing his thumb on hers in circular motions.
This gesture made Elise less nervous as she could only focus on the circular motions on her fingers which made her heart beat faster.
The pack made a loud cheer, howling in unison.
This signified their acknowledgement of their Alpha's presence.
But after their loudest howls, there was silence.
Elise stood still, wondering what was going on as it was her first time in a pack meeting.
Then they started howling again. This time, their voices less loud than before.
A girl came with flowers for Elise and so she understood that the second howl was for her.
The wolves then knelt down for her.
Everyone except Kai and Lucien.
This indicated that Lucien was of course the highest in rank in the pack.
Lucien, the second highest.
And now, Elise automatically earned the rank of 3rd highest in the pack just by being the mate of the Alpha.
Elise stood still for a moment, totally spaced out.
She didn't know how to feel.
Her eyes were getting teary at the rush of emotions she felt.
She didn't know exactly what made her teary.
If it was the respect and rank she'd least expected, or the fact that everything was happening so fast.
Or the fact that she, a girl who didn't know what it meant to have a wolf was now the 3rd in command in the whitemoon pack.
Kai looked at the crying Elise beside him.
All he could see was her innocence, and he couldn't help but smile.
Everyone in the pack introduced themselves to her warmly.
Kai just knew that they'd all serve her to the fullest as no one dared cross him.
And now, everyone must know, crossing his mate would mean crossing him. And no one would want to try that.
Afterwards, the ladies took Elise with them to have their "girl time" while Kai stayed with the gents.

"How did you meet him!" ,Tasha, a female of the whitemoon pack, known as the little girl of the pack due to her petite nature, blurted loudly.
"Let the girl breathe, Tasha". Ava said chuckling while pouring Elise a drink.
Elise blushed so deeply. Her cheeks turning red.
She had never had this sort of conversation with any female. Not to mention female wolves.
She had never even had any type of conversation with female wolves her age.
Not that she had conversations with male wolves too. She thought.
"Tell us how you met him already!!…" Tasha repeated, this time, with eyes begging to know the tea.
" we met at the silver moon ball". Elise started talking.
They all had their eyes widened in shock.
"The silver moon ball?!!". They exclaimed in unison.
"The alpha didn't look like he was in a good mood that day". How did you manage to like him on that day?… Tasha said, blurting again.
This made everyone laugh out loudly.
"You'll get used to her very soon". The remaining girls said while laughing.
"Well, he saved my life on that day".
"Awwwwwwwwwwnnnn". They said in unison.
Elise shared the rest of the story about how she met Kai and everything else without going into too many details.
She didn't drink much as she had not really had the opportunity to drink with friends.
Technically speaking, she never had any opportunity to drink with friends, so she didn't want to ruin her first time by getting drunk.
Also, first impressions last longer.
Although, she was a little bit tipsy when Kai came to take her back to the house.
When they got to the Elise's room inside the pack house, Kai brought her to seat on the bed gently, while attempting to remove her shoes.
"You look stunning tonight, miss". He said, sheepishly.
Tipsy Elise couldn't hold back as she had always done, so she smiled very broadly.
Not hiding the fact that she was blushing, she looked up at him with puppy eyes and blurted out.
"It's Kai!"
My mate in whom I am well pleased!…Elise shouted at the top of her voice.
Laughing aloud.
Kai couldn't help but laugh along with her.
She looked so damn cute tipsy!
When he was done taking off her shoes which seemed like forever as he had never taken off a woman's shoes, he attempted to make her lay down.
But then, she wrapped her hands around his neck with a giggle.
This sent a shiver down his chest.
Ohh, how happily his wolf danced.
This was the thing for werewolves.
Their wolves immediately recognize their mates and they feel everything ten times deeper for their mates.
"I'm sssoo happy!". She slurred, her eyes shining with a drunken haze.
"I'm glad you had fun tonight". He said, trying to unwrap her hands that were already wrapped tightly on his shoulders.
Her eyes began to flutter shut bits by bits and Kai immediately took the opportunity to unwrap himself from her.
He coaxed her to stand up and lay down on the bed properly. But Elise had other plans.
With a drunken grin, she pulled him closer to her face using his shirt as a hold as she staggered, almost falling.
She put her face closer to him as he grabbed her by the waist to stop her from tripping.
"I don't want to sleep". She whispered in his eyes, her breath hot against his face.
Kai's body responded instantly, his desire for her spreading throughout his skin like wildfire.
He wanted her badly.
His mind consumed by the thoughts of her in his bed.
Thoughts of her in the moonlight;
Thoughts of her wrapped around him:
But he knew he couldn't give in to his desires.
Not when she was like this….;
Vulnerable and unaware of her surroundings.
Even if she knew he was the one,
Even if she was aware that he's her mate, she still was under the influence of alcohol.
He respected her so much, he couldn't bring himself to dishonor her by doing anything with her in that state.
With every last ounce of self control left in him, he ignored his wolf.
Carrying her to the bed, she pecked him on the lips.
His feet stopped for a split second.
Now, that was all the self control he had left.
That peck sent him blushing widely.
He still couldn't bring himself to take her in, but he could no longer hold back his smiles.
He dropped her on the bed, tucking her in.
After which, he giggled.
His feets kicking the ground as he wiggled himself around in happiness.
He couldn't remember the last time he had been so expressive about anything.
