Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7

Elise woke up from the dream she had.

The one where she had gotten tipsy and embarrassed herself in front of Kai.

She had been unsure about being tipsy.

All she felt was her body burning up and causing her to dance.

Although, it was her first time drinking, she had thought her body would warn her when she was getting tipsy.

Little did she know, that Alcohol waits — and then it takes over.

Which explains why she had only been a little tipsy, till she got back to her room.

"Ughhh!" She groaned loudly.

It wasn't a dream!

Her head felt like they were spinning, throbbing at each movement she made.

Was she having a hangover?

She was pretty sure she was.

Elise tried to stand.

Dragging herself, using every bit of her strength.

She didn't feel okay in anyway laying down.

Maybe she'd feel okay standing up.

She eventually stood, making an attempt to raise open the curtains, she staggered to the window.

"Ouch!" She hissed in pain, fluttering her eyes shut!

The light from the sun stabbed her eyes like tiny knives.

It felt like a jack hammer had taken up residence behind her eyes.

"Let's not drink again, shall we?"

Elise thought to herself.

Leaving the curtains closed, she dragged herself back to the bed.

With the urge to vomit, she dashed off to the water closet, putting all her face in as she puked till she started to feel her intestines hurt.

By the time she was done with her head in the toilet bowl, her insides hurt like crazy.

Her stomach was a pit of acid and a bad decision.

She rinsed her face after flushing.

She felt defeated.

Elise - 0. Alcohol - 1

She tried to take the towel from her room to clean her face when she noticed a bowl of soup, sitting on the shelve.

There was a note tucked behind it.

"Sorry it took you long to find, I figured you might put your hand on the drawer first, thereby, spilling the soup. Make sure you finish it all, it'll help you feel better. Love, your mate in whom you are well pleased!"

Elise felt like she couldn't breathe for a moment.

She had started to blush when she read the letter.

Till she got to the end!.

Her stomach twisted as the blurry film reel of last night played in his mind.

"My mate in whom I am well pleased?!"

"Why did she have to say that?!"

Her face flushed.

She winced at the memory like it physically hurt (because it did).

Elise say cross - legged on her bed, still clutching tightly at the note.

The soup was on the night stand, half finished.

She could feel her stomach and head better.

Her hangover was starting to fade.

But the embarrassment was pretty much alive and well.

She groaned, throwing herself back in bed.

She shut her eyes, and the memories came.

All embarrassing but sweet moments.

Elise buried her head in a pillow.

A knock came on the door.

She froze!

She prayed it wasn't who she was thinking it was.

"Elise?" Kai's voice came from the other side of the door.

She felt spasm in between her legs, causing her to jump up from the bed.

Ohhh, what beauty it'd be to be a shapeshifter!

"Are you alive…?" Kai called out again.

Elise considered pretending she was asleep, or dead.

But knowing the kind of man Kai was, not responding would send the door open in seconds.

So instead, she groaned, "Barely".

The door creaked open.

Kai stood there with a bottle of water and what seemed like crackers or cookies.

It was wrapped in a plastic bag.

"You look better", he said, smiling.

"Barely close to feeling better",she mumbled while stretching.

He set the water and plastic bag down on the night stand.

"Do you remember anything?" He asked.

Elise stopped breathing for a second.

She had expected thaf he'd ask about last night of course.

She still felt startled, her cheeks turning red as she remembered hearing his giggles yesterday.

She laughed into the pillow.

"You remember something, maybe everything", Kai said, chuckling softly.

"Define anything", she peeked at him, slowly moving the pillow away from her face.

He gave her an amusing look.

"You kissed me".

"Technically, you gave me a peck on the lips"he corrected, laughing as she arched her brows.

"Please tell me I didn't do anything worse", she said, her cheeks turning pinkish-red.

He tilted his head slightly, with his index finger on his jaws dramatically.

"You may have called me your mate… in whom you are well pleased", he said, eying her with a smirk.

Elise screamed internally.

She couldn't hold back the embarrassment.

"This would be the perfect moment for the ground to open for me to enter", she thought.

"Okay. Yep. I'm leaving the pack. Thanks for everything", she blurted out, sheepishly.

Kai laughed.

It was soft and warm and… annoyingly attractive.

Seeing her flushed was sending him jitters. She looked so adorable like a little puppy.

"Hey," he said after a beat, voice quieter, "I thought it was kind of cute."

"Not kind of. She was so damn cute!, he thought to himself".

This stranger-mate was making it hard for him to hold back, which was ironic because typical Kai was the king of self control.

Elise blinked.

"Not the part you shouted my name to the whole packhouse, that was terrifying," he teased.

"But… you being you. That was cute."

Her heart skipped, in a way that was similar to when Mr Bennet, her school principal had called her up on stage because her aunt Thea asked him to".

Except this time, it was the opposite of the way she felt that day.

She looked away, chewing her bottom lip.

"You're not going to forget this, are you?"

"Oh no," he grinned.

"I'm going to bring it up at every full moon from now on, he said, laughing in between his teeth, his voice cackling, making his Adam's apple go back and forth.

She groaned, flopping back on the bed, but she was smiling now.

She couldn't help but stare at the sight of him.

He was into her, the same way she was into him.

That fact was glaring.

That was the part she couldn't shake.

The feeling of being wanted by him, the way he understood her and treated her.

She couldn't help but blush about it.

As he turned to leave, she whispered under her breath:

"I kind of meant it, you know".

But the door had already shut.
