Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 : Zhao vs Magenta

The battle between Zhao and Magenta grew even fiercer. Especially after Goly's defeat, Magenta became even more enraged, and her attacks turned more brutal. If Zhao relaxed his defenses, death would undoubtedly ensue.

Magenta launched herself with the force of a sharp bullet. Her fully transformed serpent body shot toward Zhao. But Zhao was just as quick—he leapt and narrowly dodged her attack.

"Is this all you can do?" Magenta snarled, frustrated by Zhao's constant evasions, as if he had no intention of fighting.

Magenta raised her head high, like a cobra preparing to strike. A second later, she opened her mouth wide and sprayed venom. The earth was soaked by the stream of purple venom that descended like a storm.

This attack was incredibly troublesome for Zhao. Zhao knew that a hit would undoubtedly bring him to the verge of death, just as it had before.

"If I get hit, I'll die," Zhao muttered, watching the venom turn the contaminated ground pitch black and release toxic fumes.

"I've mastered my black sword—you'll never defeat me!" Zhao shouted at Magenta.

Zhao gripped his black sword tightly. The sword trembled, as if sensing its master's emotions. A dark aura surged from the blade, spreading around Zhao, forming a black circle on the ground that repelled Magenta's venom. The drops of venom that touched the aura dissolved instantly into smoke.

Magenta hissed furiously, her glowing red eyes fixed on Zhao. "Don't get cocky, boy! So you can wield a sword—doesn't mean you'll survive!" She screamed, then darted forward like an arrow.

This time, Magenta attacked from every direction. Her flexible body twisted in the air, diving from the left, right, above, and even below. Zhao was forced to unleash his full power. He spun his black sword, creating a shield of dark energy that deflected every one of Magenta's attacks with pinpoint precision.

But the relentless assault began to wear Zhao down. Sweat dripped from his brow, and his breathing grew heavy. Even though he wasn't hit directly, the venom's toxic fumes started to choke him. His vision blurred, but his spirit burned on.

Sensing Zhao's exhaustion, Magenta seized the moment. She twisted her body, revealing venomous spines at her tail. With lightning speed, she launched the spines at Zhao.

Quickly, Zhao raised his sword and stabbed it into the ground. Instantly, a wave of black energy surged out, blocking the poisonous spines.

Without wasting a second, Zhao dashed toward Magenta, leaping into the air and slashing his sword downward in a powerful arc. Magenta tried to dodge, but she was too slow—the strike hit her right eye.

"ARGHHH!!" Magenta screamed as blood streamed from her wound.

Zhao became enraged upon witnessing this. Despite his blurred vision from the poison, he surged forward, ready to attack again. Magenta retaliated, spraying more venom in desperation.

Zhao jumped and glided along the beach sand like he was surfing. He then swung his sword downward, and suddenly the sand rose like a massive wave, crashing toward Magenta.

The sand wave blocked Magenta's venom and slammed into her, sending grains into her left eye. Now she was completely blind—her right eye injured, and her left eye filled with sand.

Unable to see anything, Magenta attacked wildly. She thrashed her tail and sprayed venom in all directions, hoping to hit Zhao.

But Zhao, able to see all her erratic movements, dodged them easily. "I have to kill her now."

Zhao darted toward Magenta, jumped, and slashed his black sword horizontally.

"Swish!"

Magenta's head flew off, severed from her body. Victory belonged to Zhao.

Despite feeling exhausted and still affected by the venom, Zhao immediately set off toward Sora's base. He had to save the kidnapped children.

Now, only one battle remained—Yamile vs. Sora. Both Yamile and Sora engaged in intense combat, exchanging blows while their bodies bore numerous wounds. They were visibly exhausted, breathing heavily, sweat pouring from their brows.

"I never thought your father would sacrifice your mother just for demonic power," Sora said coldly.

"Aren't you ashamed to use that power?" He taunted her again, attempting to provoke Yamile.

Yamile said nothing, her gaze sharp and unflinching. She readied herself, turning the surrounding water into dragons. She summoned five water dragons that now flew in a circle around her.

Suddenly, the dragons surged forward, resembling bullets, and swung mercilessly at Sora. As a Weigow demon, Sora had a powerful body. He shielded himself with both arms as the dragons hit him head-on.

"Blarr!"

Dust billowed into the air from the violent attack. From within the cloud, Sora charged forward at full speed, his footsteps shaking the ground. He hurled a large boulder, a fishing boat, and even tree trunks—anything he could grab—toward Yamile.

Yamile split everything that flew at her with her trident. But suddenly, Sora was in front of her, throwing a punch aimed directly at her face. She barely blocked it with her trident.

Sora's strength was overwhelming. Yamile was flung far, crashing into a building and flying into the forest behind Sora's base. She finally stopped when she slammed into a massive tree trunk. Blood spewed from her mouth.

Yamile lay weak, her body crushed. But in that weakness, a fire of rage burned. She wiped the blood from her lips and looked up at the darkening sky, as if the heavens wept for her pain. She gripped her trident tightly and forced herself to stand.

"This isn't over, Sora," she whispered, her voice hoarse but filled with resolve.

Meanwhile, Sora slowly approached, his steps confident and deliberate. A mocking smile stayed on his face. "You're too weak to stop me. You should've died with your mother," he sneered.

His words ignited a blaze of fury in Yamile. Memories of her mother drowning at sea flashed before her. The unhealed wound reopened, filling her heart with sorrow and long-restrained vengeance.

"You've mastered my power, but this is all you can do? Pathetic! I'm disappointed in you," said the demon Niroki, whose voice now echoed in Yamile's mind.

"Shut up! After I kill this ugly demon in front of me, I'll kill you next," Yamile snapped.
