Finally the day of the enrollment arrived.
I went downstairs and met with my parents.
It was 10:00 in the morning.
"Alright guys. Are you all ready?" My dad asked.
"Yup." I responded, followed by my mom's response, "yes dear", which came from their room. Seconds later, she came out of the room.
My dad wore a black and grayish suit. He also wore black leather shoes. My mom wore a long violet and white dress with short white heels. I didn't know what that dress was or what it was called, but it looked good on her considering she was a beautiful woman. Standing side by side, they both looked like a great and happy couple. I, on the other hand, did not care much about clothing and fashion. I thought about dressing up casually, but decided against it and just like my dad, I wore an all-black suit with black shoes to match. I wore a suit because if I had dressed in casual clothing and went outside like that, it would have been my parents that would be judged by the people who live around us, saying things such as, 'tsk tsk tsk, look at them, not teaching their child any manners when going outside! My child is well-mannered, but look at their's!' something along those lines. Of course, they would not say it in front of the person they are judging. Having dealt with such individuals and seen people's true nature multiple times in my previous life, I decided to dress decently.
Shortly after, we exited the house and sat in the car. And without wasting any time, we left for the Scythe's Academy.
The drive to the Scythe's Academy was one hour long.
…
On the way to the Scythe's Academy, a Wormhole Portal randomly appeared on the left side of the road and the traffic was halted by the Scythe's Association members. Now we had to wait until everything was clear and everyone could proceed to their destinations.
We were a little further away, so we could not see what had happened.
Feeling concerned after seeing the traffic being blocked from going any further, my dad asked with a concerned look, "what is going on? Why did everyone stop?"
Not knowing what had happened that would cause this situation, dad was about to open the car door and go outside to check when suddenly, men in black suits and black shades, walked towards the drivers that were far to the back and warned them about the situation and that Scythes would arrive shortly to clear the Wormhole Portal.
Everyone complied and stayed in their cars.
Minutes later, the left side of the road was blocked off where the Wormhole Portal had appeared. Now, the only way to proceed was in a straight line on the right lane of the road. Thankfully, it did not take the Scythe's Association members to do their work as quickly as possible which allowed the people who stuck in the traffic to proceed to their destination.
Seeing the Scythe's Association members work done so quickly, my dad commented, "they sure do work fast, huh."
"Yes. And thank goodness we didn't have to wait any longer." My mom added.
We then proceeded to our destination.
…
After one hour and a few minutes of driving, we finally arrived at the Scythe's Academy.
My dad parked the car in the parking lot. After we got out of the car, we began walking towards the huge entrance door of the Scythe's Academy.
The Scythe's Academy was a prestigious institution a aspiring Scythes. It was extremely huge, the size of almost three high schools. This was my first time seeing it. Me and my parents were awe struck by the sheer size of the Scythe's Academy.
We focused our attention to where it was needed the most and stopped admiring it.
We walked inside and went to the reception desk. A female receptionist greeted as with respect, "hello and welcome to the Scythe's Academy. What can I do for you today?"
"Ah, yes, we have an appointment with the Head Principal." My dad responded respectfully.
"Please tell me the name of the person who this appointment is for."
The receptionist said, in a calm tone.
"Jin Kang." My dad responded.
"Yes, one moment please." She said as she began looking through the computer screen in front of her.
"Oh my. You're here to join the Scythe's Academy. And you're already A-Class!" The receptionist said, her eyes widened.
"Please, come this way! I'll guide you to the Head Principal's office! I'm sure he'll be delighted to meet you!" The receptionist added as she escorted us to the Head Principal's office.
A few minutes later, we reached the Head Principal's office. The receptionist knocked on the door and said, "excuse me, Head Principal. You have guests."
An old voice came from behind the door. It said, "you may enter," in a calm tone.
The receptionist opened the door inwardly and bowed before saying, "please, this way."
Inside the office room was an old man sitting in a comfortable chair. He had a calm demeanor and a graceful air around him. He looked to be about 50 years of age or older.
I, with my parents, entered the office room and the receptionist closed the door after.
The Head Principal stretched out his hand toward the chairs with soft-looking surface across from him which had an expensive-looking table between them and said in a soft tone, "please have a seat."
Complying to his words, my parents and I sat in those seats.
"You must be Jin Kang, right?" The head Principal asked while looking at me.
"Yes, I am." I responded immediately.
Not expecting what he was going to ask next, I looked straight at him and prepared myself.
However, the Head Principal asked something that even I did not expect.
"Why are you here?" The Head Principal asked with a serious expression.
I looked at him with confusion.
"So I can join the Scythe's Academy and become a Scythe of course." I said calmly.
"Why should I let you join the Scythe's Academy? What makes you so special? Why do you want to join it? What qualifications do you have?" The Head Principal asked, his expression still serious.
I was of course going to answer anything he asked, even if I did not expect it. But, before I could even attempt to open my mouth to speak, my dad answered instead, "excuse me sir, I respect that you're doing your job here and all, but please choose your words carefully. You're scaring my son," in a very serious tone.
"I'm only asking why he wants to join the Scythe's Academy and become a Scythe. However, if my words came as a bit harsh, I ask for forgiveness." The Head Principal said calmly, with no change in his tone.
I knew something like this would happen, so I prepared for it in advance.
I stood up, put my right hand inside my black coat's left side and took out the letter and the document I received from the Scythe's Association. I leaned forward and gave it to the Head Principal.
Not knowing what it was, he asked, "what is this?"
"Please read it." I responded calmly.
The Head Principal picked up his glasses from the table and began reading the letter and document I provided.
As he kept reading, his expression changed and his eyes widened.
He stood up from his chair and announced in an excited expression, "Mr. Jin, as of this moment, you have been accepted as a Special Student in the Scythe's Academy!"
"Are you sure you don't need to see any more qualifications?" I asked with a curious expression. Of course, I was messing with him.
"No! No! This is enough!" He responded, with the same excitement.
"The classes will begin on the upcoming Monday. You may also stay in the dorms or not. It is up to you." He added.
"I can't believe I accepted three A-Class Special Students in one day! The Scythe's Academy will now have three new A-Class Special Students!" He added again, but in a low voice.
It caught my attention, but I chose to ignore it.
"Dear, you got accepted! I'm so happy for you!" My mom said as she walked forward and hugged me.
"I'm happy for you, son!" My dad added and hugged me as well.
We greeted the Head Principal again, bid him farewell, left the Scythe's Academy, went home and celebrated my acceptance into the Scythe's Academy.
