Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 - Normal Days

After going back home from the Mana Measurement, my parents were happy for me. They told me things like, "we're proud of you, we're proud to have such an amazing son, you're our pride and joy". The things I never got to hear in my previous life, and the things that I thought I would never have expected, were told to me, and it made me extremely happy and sad at the same time.

Once again, I thought of Rachel, and thought how she is evil and a devil for doing what she did. And once again, I cursed her and at the thought of even thinking of her. And I realized the things that I never could have if I was still the old and oblivious me who was being tricked by that evil woman.

I quickly scrapped the thought of her because of how much disdain I felt.

The following day, I did some endurance exercises and other exercises which went rather well. And the day went by quickly as usual.

The next morning at 7:00 am, I received a mail in the mailbox about my official [Class].

I went outside and took the mail outside of the mailbox. After coming back inside the house, I opened the mail envelope carefully and took out two notes. A letter and a document.

I first noticed the letter and proceeded to read it.

It read, "Dear Mr. Jin kang. We are happy to announce that you have been granted A-Class status due to your Mana Measurement. As a young A-Class, you possess great potential, and we urge you to become a Scythe that will make our country even greater alongside many incredible Scythes of Yindrath. With that, we wish you all the good fortune in the world and may you have a great day."

"Well, they sure know how to keep future Scythes from not leaving the country at least."

I chuckled slightly as I read the email and said that.

"Now, let's check the document."

I said curiously as I held the document and proceeded to read it as well. I already knew what the document was about, I just wanted to know how it felt to receive it, as I never got any in my previous life. I was genuinely excited.

The document was about the [Class] I received, which was of course, A-Class.

I was now registered in the Scythe's Association's official database as a Scythe, even though I wasn't yet.

Higher [Class] Scythes receive more privileges than those who are below a certain [Class]. And that is why I was granted more privileges and more attention after I was designated as an A-Class.

Thinking about my first Wormhole Portal experience out of nowhere, I remembered something that I wanted to know but couldn't due to the situation everyone was in.

Now was my chance to know exactly what I wanted to know and without wasting even a single second, I asked Wisdom internally, "hey Wisdom, I have a question."

Wisdom then responded immediately with a question.

[ What is it? ]

"It's about that Lord-Class Goblin who everyone fought."

[ Yes, ask away ]

"You know how only I'm the one who can understand the language of monsters, right?"

[ Yes ]

"I wanted to know why I couldn't understand the one word he said. He said Lord and then it was bleeped. It was like it was cut off forcefully from the sentence. He said a "Name" before saying Lord. Even when he was chanting a spell, I could understand everything except the "Name" that came after Lord. Why couldn't I hear what he said."

[ … ]

Instead of giving me an answer, Wisdom stayed silent, not saying a single word.

Feeling confused and concerned, I asked, "Wisdom, is there something wrong?"

[ I was the one who cut off that "Name" from Goblin King Shaman's sentence ]

"What…? Why…?"

Feeling even more confused, I asked again.

[ It was to protect you ]

Not understanding Wisdom's words, I asked, "protect me? From what?"

[ That "Name" ]

[ I sensed the immense amount of danger that "Name" posed and decided to cut it off from the translation ]

[ You do not know who or what that "Name" belongs to and I will not tell you either until the time is right and you will come to know it one day ]

[ But before that, I cannot risk putting you in any extreme danger such as that ]

"What…? Really? I guess I shouldn't ask any further than that."

[ Yes ]

"And thank you, Wisdom."

[ It is my duty to help you and keep you safe ]

After listening about the danger that "Name" posed that the Goblin King Shaman spoke so effortlessly, I decided not to ask any further.

The following day, my dad scheduled an appointment with the Scythe's Academy for my enrollment. The scheduled date that was given to us for my enrollment was Friday, 31 January, 2025.

Before my dad scheduled an appointment with the Scythe's Academy for my enrollment, we sat in our seats on the dinner table.

"Dad, now that I've received an A-Class status, the Scythe's Academy will surely accept me as a Special Student."

I said, with a serious expression.

"Yes, that's true. And I'm proud of you for that."

My dad said, with a smile on his and gave me a thumbs-up.

"Yes! To think our Jin is now an A-Class! I've heard that people train their entire life, but only a few can even reach A-Class. But look at our Jin, already an A-Class. We're so proud of you son."

My mom said, with laughter and tears of joy.

"Ahaha!"

I scratched the back of my head with a laugh.

"How can I ever tell them that I was initially supposed to be a C-Class, not that I will ever tell them of course. Well, either way, seeing them happy and laugh together makes me happy as well. No matter what it takes, I'll keep those warm smiles and laughter shine brightly for as long as I'm alive."

I thought internally as I laughed with them and ate with them shortly after.

That day too, went by as usual and nothing new happened except for my enrollment which was in a few days.
