The confident curve of Aidan's lips remained, as though he were still amused by the scene unfolding around him. Sophie watched, a twist of unease curling in her stomach. She expected anger and fury, but instead, he seemed unfazed.
With a calm, smug smile, Aidan dabbed the wine off his face with a handkerchief he pulled out from his pants pockets.
A thick brown envelope drops to the floor at that moment, and Sophie's eyes shift to it.
Aidan picked the envelope up and the hushed silence in the hall made Sophie glance around her. The expressions of the girls were caught somewhere between horror and confusion. Sophie felt a pang of guilt, but she quickly shoved it down.
"What?!" She snapped at the silent girls. "He's just a bartender, it doesn't matter if he's drop-dead handsome."
One girl, Chloe, looked as if she'd seen a ghost.
Sophie, unaware, barked again, staggering towards them. "What?!"
