Hikari pushed open the door, stepped inside, and closed it behind her.
The room instantly dimmed.
She glanced around, noticing Tanjiro and the others who'd entered earlier were nowhere in sight. Shrugging, she strolled forward, randomly opening a few doors along the way. In one of the rooms, she caught a faint rustling sound coming from under a cabinet.
A demon with an unnaturally long tongue was crouched there, drooling as it locked eyes with her.
*Whoosh—*
With a sharp gust, the demon shot out its tongue, the whip-like appendage slicing through the air toward Hikari's face!
At the last second, Hikari tilted her head, dodging effortlessly. With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a flurry of shuriken, pinning the tongue to a nearby wooden panel with a series of crisp *ding-ding-dang* clinks.
The long-tongued demon yanked its tongue back, blood dripping briefly before the shuriken wounds healed almost instantly.
On the other side…
Hikari's right hand brushed her waist, pulling out a flashlight-like device—her laser sword. She pressed the switch.
A pale purple blade, two to three meters long, extended outward, faintly illuminating the space around her.
Then…
*Swish—!*
As the long-tongued demon lunged again, Hikari flicked her wrist. The purple laser carved a massive arc through the air before snapping back to its starting point.
"…No effect?"
Hikari's brow furrowed slightly.
But in the next moment…
The demon suddenly collapsed, rolling on the ground and shrieking in pain. Its dangling tongue split cleanly in half, the severed edge not bleeding but instead showing a charred black ring. A faint scent of grilled meat wafted through the air, making Hikari's nose twitch involuntarily.
"So it's delayed…"
"Judging by the cut, the laser sword seems to suppress wound regeneration?"
With a demon's healing ability, a severed tongue was no big deal—it'd grow back quickly.
But this demon's recovery seemed stalled by the strike. The charred marks on its tongue showed no sign of fading, and the small buds of new flesh growing on either side looked oddly discolored.
"You little brat, what did you do to me…?"
The long-tongued demon roared through its pain, scrambling toward her on all fours like a gecko.
This time, Hikari charged head-on. As their paths crossed, three or four arcs of light flashed simultaneously!
*Hiss…*
As the pale purple glow faded, Hikari reappeared in a corner of the room, now dual-wielding laser swords. She twirled them with a flourish before turning around. If you ignored the grim setting, she looked almost like a modern teen waving glow sticks at a concert.
Behind her…
The long-tongued demon let out another wail. Its head, both arms, and left leg dropped to the ground with a series of *thuds*. The remaining headless, limbless torso still tried to lurch forward, only to be casually kicked away by Hikari, rolling into a pathetic heap.
At this moment, the demon was in a bizarre predicament.
It wasn't dead.
But its wounds showed no signs of healing.
The body parts severed by the laser sword started acting independently—its hands crawled toward the door, the left leg shuffled toward a window, while the head and torso rolled around the room, emitting pained screeches.
"Just like before, wounds from the laser sword get cauterized after about a second, and regeneration grinds to a halt…
"It's kind of like the 'Sun Breathing' effect—causing intense pain and temporarily disabling a demon's recovery. But since it lacks the specific rays unique to the *Demon Slayer* world, it can't kill instantly like a Nichirin Blade?"
Hikari closely observed the demon's condition, then delivered a few more slashes, chopping it into even smaller pieces. Only after its head was split into five or six chunks did it finally let out a mournful cry, slowly disintegrating into ash.
Seeing this, Hikari deactivated the laser sword and tucked it back into her pocket.
If the issue was indeed a lack of certain light wavelengths, Bulma could probably fix it. All she'd need to do is tweak the *Dragon Ball* world's laser sword by adding those specific rays to create a *Demon Slayer*-compatible version. It'd take some time, but the tech was doable.
"Next up, Solar Flare…"
Hikari carefully put on her protective goggles and flipped the switch on her protective gear.
In an instant…
A blinding glow, like the sun itself, erupted, turning her into a radiant figure and banishing the room's darkness.
Too lazy to wander through the maze-like house, she activated the first stage of her Susanoo. Enveloped in a dark red skeletal frame, she barreled straight through to the end of the hallway, then smashed through the ceiling above!
"My eyes!"
"What's that glowing thing? It's blinding…"
"I'm gonna go blind…!"
Voices rang out from the floor above.
Under the intense light, neither humans nor demons could keep their eyes open.
Protected by her goggles, Hikari could just make out her surroundings. Seizing the moment, she approached a demon with several taiko drums sprouting from its body. Her hands formed seals, and she lightly pressed them against its back. "Self-Karma Curse Seal!"
This demon, Kyogai, was actually decently strong—once the Lower Rank Six of the Twelve Kizuki.
But caught off guard by the blinding light, his movements were sluggish. Before he could dodge, the curse seal locked him in place.
With ease, Hikari sealed him into a scroll.
Unlike the laser sword, the protective gear's light was mostly visible spectrum, with only a small fraction of ultraviolet and infrared.
—Which made sense. Ultraviolet, gamma, and X-rays were all highly radioactive. At high intensities, they could kill human cells in seconds. If the protective gear emitted the same rays as the laser sword, even Hikari wouldn't be able to wear it safely.
From what she'd seen so far…
"Pure bright light doesn't do much real damage to demons, but it seems to slow them down, buying time to attack or escape. The downside? It screws over your teammates."
Only now did Hikari notice that among the startled voices were Tanjiro, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and a few captured human teens.
From crashing through the ceiling to sealing Kyogai, the whole thing took her less than a minute.
But it took Tanjiro and the others a good ten minutes to regain their vision.
"Huh? Miss Hikari, when did you get here? That demon…" Tanjiro rubbed his eyes, anxiously scanning the area.
"Already dealt with."
