So, I've read some comments and I understand that you all want the DOOM coming. What I'm planning is just for a calm pre-setting to catch Izuku off guard. I want for him to have a goal. You'll probably know what that goal is soon, but for now I understand if you all may not like these next few chapters.
We can't rush a story straight into the doom stuff all the time you know XD
But please let me cook, after all, a chef's dish can never be rushed :)
Also it seems people don't like how I write. Um just letting you know I'm not doing this for money, I just got an idea like this and wanted it to become a reality by writing it here so if it doesn't meet your expectations then I'm sorry if it doesn't.
I'm just a girl don't hurt me 🥺
Now, ONTO THE CHAPTER!
————————————————————————
3RD POV
He sighed and yawned as he put his hands down to his side after looking at them from above. He looked around his room. It was blank. There was nothing much inside it. The only things that did stand out were a few exclusive All Might figurines that he collected to sell at high prices. A blinding mirror was hitting him in the face even from where he was lying in.
His thoughts slowly drifted to yesterday in general.
All of it was just failing. Everything around him.
Heroes.
All Might.
His father.
His mother and sister.
Did he care? Not anymore. It was truly solidified last night. It wasn't like they even cared for him in the first place so why should he reciprocate back any feelings of familial love to them after all this time.
He shook his head and got up slowly as he arm slowly lifted up to caress his bruised neck. For a skinny guy, his father sure had a hidden strength.
It wasn't like he was All Might though.
He checked the weather as it was quite chilly today. Izuku turned to face the full length-mirror, tousling his messy black and green bush of hair as he finished getting dressed. He slipped on a sleek olive green t-shirt and pulls over a sleek black jacket with its zippers and buckles catching the light with a subtle gleam.
Grabbing his phone from the worn out desk, he looked through his messages and seeing a one 'Mary Kim' pop up, he sported a small smile before texting her if she wanted to go out today.
He popped his phone back inside his pocket and casually, but cautiously walked down the hallways and down the stairs. It was a little quiet as he noticed that Izumi's door was closed as was his 'parents' door too.
Reaching the ground floor, he saw someone jump from the couch as Inko turned around seeing him glancing at her. She looked like she was about to say something, but Izuku zoned out not wanting to listen to her voice. Not wanting to deal with anything of the sort like the house he is in and its inhabitants, he swiftly walked out and closed the door before walking away.
It was a chilly Saturday and low and behold, he heard a short ring from his pocket as he dug into it and pulled out his phone. Seeing the name tag, he smiled a little before answering, "Hey."
"Hey Izuku, you texted, but I wanted to call if that's alright," Mary spoke with a light but peaceful tone which somehow made a small warmth come to his heart.
"No that's fine..so have you decided?" Izuku spoke quietly, hhoping that she would agree.
If not, the embarrassment he would get would be abysmal.
For the first time though, fate was on his side, "You think I would be calling you on the phone to tell you, No?" she accused playfully.
"...No..?" he questioned looking side to side confused but tug pulled on his mouth as it slightly increased.
"Ugh..you idiot, of course! I'm already on the train to Musutafu, so you better be there to pick me up! Okay? Byeee~," she cut the before Izuku could answer as he was left a little wide open at her attitude.
'She acts like a Queen bee...' he thought shaking his head but the tug on his mouth had increased a little more.
And so he got on the bus to travel down to Musutafu station to pick his friend up. As he got on he looked to the side as he leaned on the window gazing towards pedestrians who were going about their normal days.
'No villains around...no heroes eith— oh, spoke too soon...' he gazed on seeing two heroes walking side by side laughing with each other as the people surrounding them were asking for photos and signatures.
He knows that heroes should be praised for their actions for helping society. But it gets to a point where they are so held up in their fame that they enjoy those privileges and some even forget why they became heroes in the first place.
He isn't saying all heroes are like that though, like those two, who seem to be getting a call and responding to said dangers quickly as they were departing from the fans whilst giving the same speech every time, "Good day citizen's we shall be heading off to beat the villains!"
They all seemed delighted and cheered for the leaving heroes. Izuku, who watched and listened from the bus (they were quite loud), sighed and leaned back a little as he rested his head on the back seat and let sleep take over.
He woke up 18 minutes later. That's right. He has mastered the art of fast sleeping.
It isn't an art, but...it's better than just not having learn't anything.
When he arrived to the station, he raised his eyebrows when the familiar blonde came up to him and smacked him across the back, smiling whilst doing so, "Izuku! It's been a while!"
"We only saw each other yesterday though...?" he spoke unbothered by the slap.
Mary shrugged her shoulders before dragging him along, "So? You gonna show me around or...?" she trailed sending a smirk to him to which he shook his head but smiled.
"Let's go."
TIME SKIP
Izuku slapped the side of the claw machine like it owed him money.
Mary laughed through a mouthful of taiyaki. "Stop or you'll be detained by heroes."
"Shuddup. It grabbed the monkey, lifted it up, and dropped it for no reason," He pointed like he was about to file a report whilst staring at her.
"You just have weak fingers."
Izuku's eye twitched, "I have strong fingers."
"You have sweaty fingers. You were gripping the joystick like it was life or death."
"I was trying to win myself the monkey!"
Mary tilted her head. "You mean the same monkey you said was 'weirdly judging you with its dumb bean eyes'?"
"It looked at me and laughed..." Izuku couldn't believe the audacity of a damn monkey.
Mary squinted at the claw machine, hands behind her back, then slowly turned toward...you.
"And here we have…two monkeys in their natural habitat. One, a wild, determined creature known as the Izuku which can be seen engaging in an age-old ritual of frustration. The other, a smaller, plush species of monkey which is currently mocking him from within its clear plastic enclosure. Note the glint of menace in its beady little eyes."
Izuku's face twitched.
"Mary," he muttered, still furiously jabbing the joystick. "I swear if that little shit laughs one more time—"
"Observe the twitch marks. A clear sign of a male losing patience within his environment. Will he attack? Or will he simply insert another hundred yen and repeat the cycle of futility?"
"Who the hell are you talking to damnit!?" Izuku shouted from behind her as Mary turned back to him and shrugged before slurping on juice.
Apple juice to be precise.
Izuku sighed and sneered at the monkey in the claw machine which was currently flipping him off. He turned back and walked away as the Monkey continued laughing at hi—
PUNCH
"SHUT UP!?" he slammed his fist into the machine as the monkey...laughed.
Even harder at that.
"Ningen can't even touch me...who do you think you are you..
God...
damn...
Ningen."
Mary dragged Izuku casually by the back of his jacket whilst Izuku looked like he was ready to commit murder. The bystanders didn't know whether to laugh or to feel pity for the kid.
The kid was brutally laughed at...by a monkey.
TIME SKIP (AGAIN. Teehee)
Izuku sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as Mary wiped a tear from the corner of her eye, still catching her breath from laughing.
The arcade lights flickered behind them as they stepped outside. The sun was melting into the horizon, that perfect gold-and-pink hour where everything looked like it had a soft filter on it.
Just in front of them was a sight to behold. It was the entire city of Musutafu which was illuminating the skies above.
It complimented Mary's overall look as he couldn't help but stare at her for a few seconds before looking away.
Unluckily for him, Mary caught it, but smiled and didn't dwell on it as she slurped on another apple juice.
Then Izuku glanced over at her, voice low. "Hey… can I ask you something?"
Mary looked up. "Sure."
"What do you want to be...you know when you grow up?" Izuku spoke, as he leaned on the railings as they were gazing out to the city.
She paused as she also leaned onto the railing, "What do you think? What's everyone's dream as a kid?"
He chuckled, "A hero?"
Mary only nodded slowly, "That's what it is, but..." she paused. Her look turned almost melancholic, "Don't you think there's more out there?"
"Like what? something more than heroes?" he chimed up only to be shot down.
"I'm talking about heaven...I'm talking about hell," she tilted her head slightly as a thoughtful look crossed her face.
Izuku looked down at her confused, "Mary, are you good? Are you sure you didn't bang your head?" he chuckled but no sound came from her as he looked back again to see an exhausted look on her face.
She shook her head and gently laughed which filled his ears, "I'm just chatting bullshit, I don't know what that was..."
"It's alright," Mary turned to Izuku puzzled as he glanced down towards her, "I like hearing you chat...it's nice."
Her eyes widened as a small blush formed across her face before slapping him on his back, "You don't just say that casually idiot..." she sighed, like she was fed up with him, but then smiled towards towards her friend, "Thanks...it means a lot."
"Oh that's right I never got to ask!" she pulled back slightly look at him.
Izuku raised an eyebrow but beckoned her to continue.
"What's your quirk?"
His breathe was caught slightly.
There it was.
A little tiny landmine had dropped right into his lap.
There was no point in sugar coating this and it felt good while it lasted. Izuku made a good friend for the first time and that friend was going to slip away in disgust for knowing that he was in fact lacking a quirk.
He sighed and looked out to the city, "I'm quirkless..."
Silence.
It was like he could almost taste her gaze in disgust. Yeah.. that was what it was always like. He forced a chuckle, but it didn't contain a single ounce of humour, "...Sorry for wasting your time with me...I didn't mean to do th—"
POKE
Izuku felt something small poke him on the forehead as he looked down to see Mary looking up to him with an indifferent gaze.
"You quirkless. So what?"
His eyes widened. But he couldn't stop to think as she continued, "You're still you," she said simply, "You're still human. Just like everyone else. Just because you don't have something others have, doesn't make you any less of a human being."
Izuku stared at her, like her words didn't compute.
She tilted her head with a smile as she look towards the city, "If there's one thing I learnt from South Korea that I will always take to heart," she glanced towards him with a grin, "It's that no matter who you are and no matter where you come from, we're all still human and we can never ignore the cries of others."
"I mean, who are we as human beings, if we ignore the suffering of others?"
Izuku couldn't say anything. These past few days he's just been speechless. Everything that occurred to him throughout his life has been him going down in a spiral since hearing the word, 'Quirkless.'
"Also, stop apologising. Never apologise when you shouldn't be in the first place," she voiced out as she smacked his back lightly.
He rolled his eyes at her remark, but smiled as he put a hand on her head, petting her whilst she jumped a little but didn't say much, "You're the first person who's ever said that."
She opened her mouth, "Well, Izuku, get better friends," she said bluntly, then smiled a little softer, "Starting with me."
He just didn't know what to say, but something deep inside was unknotted as if, he could finally breathe a little easier.
He sighed as he put his hands down and leaned over to Mary, who was also currently leaning on his shoulder as they gazed over the blinding lights, "What about you Mary? What's your quirk?"
"I'm also quirkless."
"No you're not," Izuku countered back.
She rolled her eyes but leaned into his shoulder more and smiled, "I call it static."
Izuku looked at her as she explained, wanting to know more about 'static', "I can basically surround myself in strong bioelectrical energy, which increases my speed and reaction times. I don't get stronger but the faster I go, the harder the blow lands and it does allow me to use electric based attacks."
"I remember yesterday, when you sent a shockwave through your legs to stun the villain," he said amused.
"Quick thinking thanks to you, but...it was my first villain attack so I didn't expect it at all..." she uttered quietly.
"No one is beating you up for it, you did great," Izuku said as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder and rubbing softly.
Mary only nodded. Izuku couldn't tell what she was thinking currently, but he does have hope that it's all good. They stood there at the railings as they fell into a silence. Not the uncomfortable one. More like a good kind.
TIME SKIP (again... sorry)
The station wasn't far now.
The streets had a sleepy glow to it. Izuku walked beside Mary with his hands in his pockets, one shoulder brushing hers every so often as they wandered down the crescent to the station.
Mary yawned as she stretched her arms abover her head, "I swear my legs don't work anymore. We walked so much today..."
Izuku huffed as a smirk crept up his face, " You kept taking detours when you don't even know the place."
"I'm a hard working, independent woman, I don't need a man to fix my problems all the time," she pouted turning away from him, but Izuku could see her little mischievous grin.
As they walked down, Izuku stopped.
So did Mary, but in confusion.
"You good?" she asked.
Izuku didn't answer as his gaze landed to the side of the path near a vending machine, nibbling a small green leaf, was the tiny bundle of cuteness he saw at school and after school. The beige and cute creature paused as it also turned to Izuku before hopping over to him and nuzzling into his foot.
Mary stood frozen for a second, blinking. Then her hands flew to her mouth, her voice just barely above a whisper.
"Oh my god," she breathed. "It's so cute!"
Izuku looked down, visibly unsure what to do with the small creature now pressing its tiny, fuzzy head against his shin like it had known him forever.
Then again it was also his partner in crime since 24 hours ago. You know. When they joined forces against city-level threats.
He crouched down and put his soft yet roughened hand over the bunny's head petting it.
The rabbit , calm as a always in Izuku's presence, just stayed there and curled slightly against him, like it had chosen this exact moment and this exact person to rest against.
Mary was losing her mind quietly beside him.
"Izuku. Izuku. That's illegal. That level of cuteness is not legal. How is this real?"
"I don't know," he muttered.
The rabbit lifted its head and let him pet it. Light, gentle strokes. His finger's shook a little, not wanting to harm her?
It looks like a her.
"I think she likes you," Mary whispered, crouching beside him now.
"She?" he asked.
"I dunno, she feels like a she."
He nodded slowly. "Yeah. She does."
Mary's face was lit up with childlike joy. "Name her. You have to. That's the rule now."
Izuku glanced down at the little rabbit, who blinked up at him with those dark, endless eyes. His gaze looked across from him as it landed on a plant.
It had a bright yellow centre, surrounded by a neat circle of white petals that fanned out like rays. Said petals, looked soft, thin and yet delicate.
"...Daisy," he finally uttered out.
Mary tilted her head. "Daisy?"
"Yeah." He scratched behind Daisy's ear, "Just like those daisies over there."
Izuku motioned his head as Mary followed and smiled looking at the bed of flowers.
"Are you gonna keep her?" Mary asked quietly.
"I don't know if it has any owners..." he mentioned.
He shook his head and lifted Daisy in his hands, to which Daisy curled up inside, "Well they lost their chance of getting her back," he shrugged.
Mary smiled and nodded, "She's too cute to be left behind."
Izuku smiled as he walked with his officially new companion alongside Mary who also beamed with a smile and walked to the station.
He sighed as he waved goodbye to Mary and turned his face down to Daisy who is curled up inside his hands but staring up to him, "What's so special about you little one..."
He was quirkless and deemed weak by the world's standards, just like Daisy — soft, unarmed, prey in a world full of claws and teeth. But here she was, laying in his hands, fearless in her stillness.
He scratched behind her ear softly, "Don't die on me little one...I need you."
TIMESKIP (sorry...last one I promise...)
He walked back to the house he 'lived' in as he sighed and stepped in. Closing the doors, he looked back and saw no one around. The place looked deserted almost.
Key word 'Almost'.
Just then he heard a crash upstairs as he watched Izumi rushing down and paused seeing him. They both stared at each other in silence, but Izumi clearly looked a little more nervous than Izuku who looked unfazed.
"Where are they?" he closed his eyes and opened them as he uttered out quietly.
"H-Huh..? O-Oh..t-they're out you know...work.." she muttered out looking down at her feet as if it was the most fascinating thing to look at.
"I see..." He nodded as he walked upstairs not wanting to deal with her.
"W-Wait Izuku...i-is that a bunny? S-She looks so cute..!" she voiced out as she looked back up to see the cute Daisy in his arms.
He turned slightly gazing down at Izumi, who flinched and looked down. Izuku only shook his head before walking back upstairs and shutting his door.
He sighed and contemplated where to put Daisy.
The bed? No, we need to clean her first.
The floor? That's rude to Daisy.
The desk? It's got splinters.
He looked down at Daisy in his arms and smiled a little as he went to go clean her up before placing her on the bed. He got changed and not wanting to disturb her, Izuku sat on the bed side watching silently as Daisy fell asleep.
He looked around his room as his eye twitched.
'I hate this place...I fucking hate it...fuck it I'm leaving.' he thought as he decided to cut to the chase and run away from home.
But not now. Now he wanted to rest with his new companion, Daisy.
