"Shit! They are all good!"
*BONK!*
"Ouch!"
"Don't shout. Tell us what you got and I'll choose for you."
I turned around to nod to him but then I noticed that he was wearing a white kimono with a long black jacket.
"Kai, can you tell me WHY you chose your gifts already? We were supposed to discuss this together!"
"I found good clothes. Why would I hesitate?" Master Kai said with a calm tone then pointed at me, "Anyway, let's start with Nameless."
I started telling them what I got while trying to hold my laugh. It was rare to see Braham with an ugly expression like this!
"Hmm, you must take the sword. The real choice here is between the ring and the mirror." Ruby said while resting her head on her hand.
"Take the ring. A real warrior needs regeneration!
"Take the mirror. We have Braham, so the ring can wait. Quickly, I want to know your affinity." Master Kai said calmly as if the others' opinions didn't matter which didn't please them, especially Zorath.
"Solar prince, I promise to take your gift next time."
I chose the mirror and the sword immediately, ignoring Zorath's piercing gaze.
Instantly, they appeared in front of me. I picked up the katana first. It was completely black from the hilt to the blade, with only 2 glowing green lines moving from the middle of the guard to the blade tip.
"Wooh! That's cool!" Cecil shouted in excitement. I started to think that everything was exciting him.
"Not cooler than Yamato. Right Yama?"
"Brat, give me that sword." Paul suddenly said while opening his hand.
"What? Why!" I said while taking my sword away from him.
"I need to make a sheath for it, use your brain! And... Cough, and I want to study it."
I hesitated for a moment before giving him the sword. Then I took the mirror from the ground and started examining it.
"It looks… ordinary."
It was a normal silver mirror the size of my hand. It didn't look magical or anything.
"Just bite your finger for blood, it's simple."
"...."
I froze after hearing what Zorath said.
I picked up my knife and made a small cut in my finger.
'I can't convince myself to bite my own finger. It would hurt as hell!'
Ignoring Zorath gaze again, I put my finger on the mirror glass, and instantly, it started absorbing my blood.
The next moment, a word started forming on its face.
"Please be good. Please, something good."
Eventually, a small word formed for a moment before the mirror turned into dust.
"Huh?"
Our expressions turned into something between confusion and disbelief, except Zorath who looked in terror as if his world got crushed.
I took a deep breath to relax and opened my mouth: "So, what is Soul affinity supposed to be?"
"That's the problem of getting a unique affinity." Master Kai said, trying to hide his proud smile. "Just like what I did with my affinities, you will have to discover this yourself, but you will get a great advantage later because your enemy won't know it either."
"WAIT! SOULS EXIST!!" Zorath suddenly shouted loudly.
'Oh, right. Orcs didn't believe in souls.'
I patted his shoulder lightly before starting discussing the gifts of the others. And well… It was chaotic.
Especially with master Kai. He got over 25 gifts, so it was hard to choose only one, but in the end, we settled on an amulet.
Or more specifically—master Kai thought that it would suit the kimono and Yamato so he ignored us and chose it anyway.
But eventually, everything ended peacefully…
* * * * *
"Hehehe HAHAHAHA! DIE DIE DIE!!!"
*BONK!BONK!BONK!*
"OUCH!"
"It's becoming too bad that Yama had to hit you multiple times, tsk tsk."
"IT WASN'T! YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!!"
"See? Your brain is so rotten that you started to suspect your master. Maybe you need another hit."
"Cough, I'm sorry. I hope you forgive my foolishness." I said while bowing to him.
"Anyway, that was the second new monster type we saw this week. I have a feeling that we are getting closer."
I sheathed the Nightmare Katana and looked at the monster that we just killed. It was a 3m tall green mosquito with a long poisoned needle that could have pierced my heart if not for master Kai.
"It's getting more and more dangerous."
"Let's go back. We got enough food for today."
"Yes sir!"
It's been more than 4 months since we got our first gifts.
Since then, we got many gifts from the VIP and VVIP viewers. For example, I was now wearing a black Kimono, a black straw hat, some rings, barrier scrolls and even boots that give me more speed!
They had good effects, but neither the gifters nor me chose them—instead, master Kaito raised his voice and asked them for specific gifts.
He didn't ask for good enchantments or material, he only wanted my style to look like him! He even asked for a black dye for my hair but fortunately they said there was nothing like that.
Cough, returning to the topic. The forest started getting more deadly to the level that only team 9, 8 and 5 didn't have any deaths yet.
There was also the problem of team 2. They made an elf called Alex their leader and started trying to hunt us.
Not the monster—it's us!
After losing their third member, they lost it completely, deciding to catch enough people and kill them to get back together to our world.
They suddenly stopped moving with us, making us lose their tracks and thinking that they were dead. Then someday, we got the news from team 4 that they attacked them and killed 2 of them.
But fortunately, we were able to always stop their attacks after then and even capture one of them! But Braham refused to kill her, saying that by killing her, we won't be different from them—which didn't please some of us like Zorath and Ruby.
And well, I was glad that we didn't have to kill anyone. I had to use all my willpower to force myself to kill the snake with the humanoid face we found last month— talk less about a real humanoid race!
So in the end, we kept her alive for now. But I got many curses from the 40th season winner and Night Terror for not killing her.
Night Terror especially wanted me to kill her to try to sense my affinity .
'I wonder how someone like him is my age. He is definitely lying.'
"Oh, we reached the camp." Master Kai suddenly said, cutting my thoughts off.
I looked ahead and found Nora waiting for us while biting her nails.
She suddenly looked at us and her eyes lit up before rushing towards us.
"I bet she failed again." I said with a tired voice.
"Impossible. My ways in love are absolute. She just wants to thank me."
"You kept saying the same line for a month."
Eventually, Nora stood in front of us with tears falling from her eyes.
"Kaito… I–I tried! Braham still didn't get the hint!" She said while trembling slightly, either from sadness or anger.
"Did you rest your head on his shoulder? What was his reaction?" Kaito asked confusedly.
"He just rubbed my hair and ears." Her face suddenly turned red. "I was too embarrassed to say anything… so nothing happened. He waited me to sleep then I woke up in my bed."
"We will then try the ancient technique that never failed before." Master Kai suddenly said with a serious expression.
"N-never failed before?"
Master Kai nodded. "You will start by kidnapping and tying him to the bed, then…."
"...."
'Did they forget that I'm here?'
I kept listening to them while trying to not think too much about the horrifying things that I was hearing.
For a moment, I wondered how all my life decisions led me to this point.
