“Donna?” Hanson’s voice came from the other end of the line. “Where are you? Come back to the pack immediately! What happened today has a terrible effect, and we need to deal with it as soon as possible.”
Donna could easily hear the tone of a bully in his voice.
The public opinion was out of control, and Alpha Hanson completely lost his face. If this continued, it might even affect his relations with the Alpha Council of Elders.
He deserved it!
She didn’t answer the call immediately, but felt a faint pricking pain from the mark of Hanson on the back of her neck, which only made her feel disgust and humiliation now.
With Black at her side, she seemed to have an invisible barrier, which greatly weakened the force of Hanson’s orders, but the grim force of King Black tried to interfere with her will and made her very uncomfortable.
Her silence obviously angered the man at the other end of the communication.
“Why did you stop talking?” Hanson’s voice became sterner, showing his intense anxiety. “Donna, where are you? Okay, I don’t care where you are and what you are doing, but come back right now. The pack and I need you, and we must quash the damn rumors immediately!”
“Rumors?” Donna finally remarked, showing no emotion at all.
“Of course, rumors!” Hanson responded, and at this moment, he seemed to realize his gaffe just now. His tone soon became “sincere” again, “Donna, I know that you may have some misunderstanding about the relationship between Monica and me, and I can explain. But you shouldn’t have been so impetuous and told such big lies in the trials field. All you did was quite shameful!”
“It was you who voluntarily agreed to replace Monica for the competition, and I’ve never given you any Alpha command. You are my future Luna, and I know that you don’t want to hurt me. The more Hanson said, the more he felt justified. It seemed as if his distorted rhetoric was true.
“Listen,” he said to Donna, “come back at once and clarify your lie. Admit that it was your... no, it was Nancy’s fault. Donna put down the communication crystal with naked disgust on her face.
King Black had been reclining on the wall of the pool, looking lazy, but he heard every word they had said.
He looked at Donna’s cold face, his eyes dark and face expressionless, “He told you to go back and whitewash him?”
“Yes.” Donna briefly repeated Hanson’s request, “He wanted me to hold a so-called ‘clarification meeting’ and intended to throw mud at Nancy and me.”
She didn’t look at Black, but looked down at her long and powerful fingers.
“The remnant of the Alpha command is still there, and the mark hasn’t been removed yet.” Black stated the facts, his eyes falling on the mark on the back of her neck. The mark belonged to another man, and his eyes grew cold, “The pack internal meeting on Hanson’s turf, it might more than hurling mud at you! Are you sure you’re going?”
No one knew Black was assessing the risk, or just testing her confidence.
Donna raised her head, eyeing him with a firm look, “As I dare to agree with the plan, Your Majesty may rest assured that I will fulfill it.” She paused, pleading candidly. “But Hanson and those elders were despicable, so I need to make sure that when I execute the plan, I can’t be directly controlled by their force or other dirty tactics. Therefore, I ask you to provide me with the necessary security when I enter the meeting area of the pack. You don’t need to intervene, but to make sure that I can finish my plan and safely escape.”
She knew this request was not too difficult for Black, and to stir up trouble repeatedly in the Red Moon pack was totally in his interest. Therefore, he had every reason to keep his ‘pawn ' safe.
Black looked at her eyes brimming with confidence and thought about her request.
He nodded slightly after a few seconds, “Yes. Beta Lucas will arrange it.”
He admired his ally’s ability and ambition. Besides, she knew how to make use of the resources and rules.
“Your Majesty, thank you.” Donna’s goal was achieved, and she had no more words.
She quickly removed her bathrobe and put on her black suit, which was easy to combat.
Her movements were capable and experienced, without any sign of her recent intimacy, which looked as if it were just an insignificant physical exercise.
Her silver hair was tied skillfully behind her head, revealing her smooth forehead and cold jaw, her eyes as sharp as an eagle ready to hunt.
Black was still reclining against the wall of the pool, looking at the back of Donna. Her body was full of strength, and every inch of her muscle seemed to contain amazing explosive power, which was in sharp contrast to the softness and glamour when she was under him.
He commanded Lucas with his mind-link: “Watch out for the Red Moon pack, and make sure our ‘queen’ won’t be torn up by those old guys before she proves herself.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Lucas replied, faithful and reliable.
Although Lucas would like to ask: Your Majesty, have you so soon recognized her as your queen?
Donna dressed herself neatly, and she finally confirmed the signal and battery of the communication crystal. She turned to Black and nodded slightly, “Your Majesty, I must be going now.”
“Hum," Black answered noncommittally, his eyes deep.
Donna straightly left the room.
A humble magic-powered car had been waiting outside the palace. It was arranged by Lucas to avoid most of the informers.
After getting into the car, she immediately contacted Nancy.
“Leader?”
“Nancy, Hanson asked me to go back and hold a clarification meeting this afternoon.” Donna said with a cool voice, “I think it’s just a chance for us. Please prepare all the evidence, especially evidence of Monica’s cheating and their adultery. Please wait for my signal. When the meeting reaches the most critical moment, or after I have safely escaped, you immediately spread all the evidence via available channels!”
“I got it, Leader! I can make sure the task is completed!” Nancy said firmly.
After the communication, Donna took a deep breath and cast her eyes in the direction of the Red Moon pack, her eyes as firm as quenched steel.
Hanson, the Alpha Council of Elders... your farce, it’s time to end.
