Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 The Cost of Open Combat

In the assembly hall of the Red Moon pack, the atmosphere was oppressive.

It was the place where important decisions were announced or internal trials conducted, but at the moment, it was the latter.

When Donna stepped into the hall "accompanied" by the guards of the pack, almost all eyes were on her, full of curiosity, schadenfreude, disdain, and confusion, and of course, mixed with a few worried and supportive eyes from Nancy and others.

On the high stage, Alpha Hanson sat gloomily in the main position, showing undisguised irritability.

The three highest elders sat beside him, looking solemn. They were the pack’s most determined conservatives, deliberately making things difficult for Donna for the past few years.

A gang of bastards.

Donna gave a short contempt in her heart but remained emotionless on her face. She calmly walked into the center of the hall and stood there like a tall and straight pine tree; his silver hair neatly combed.

"Donna," Hanson said to her, “you are back at last. What happened at the trials and the malicious rumors that you spread later have exerted a very strong, bad influence on the pack! You have made such a big mistake! But as an Alpha, I can't shield you!”

The senior elder immediately spoke in a stern voice, "Donna! You used to be the pride of the pack! But now you have become an impostor, and viciously slander your Alpha! These evil deeds are seriously against the pack rules and harm the glory of werewolf packs!”

Another elder changed to a sincere and earnest tone, “Since you contributed a lot to the pack in the past, we’ll give you a chance. As long as you clarify the rumors, sincerely admit your mistakes, identify the wolf who incited you to do so, and promise not to do it again in the future, we’ll consider inflicting lenient punishment on you.”

It's really a good act!

The two elders sang the same tune, and Donna listened sarcastically.

They wanted to force her to confess, frame his partner, and whitewash Hanson and Monica! So that’s their game.

She raised her eyes, cool and firm." The elders seem to have condemned me?" Her voice was low, but it was quite clear in the hall." So, is there any point for me to clarify the fact?"

The senior elder frowned, “Donna! Watch your attitude!”

"You said to give me a chance, didn’t you?" Donna sneered, “Are you going to give me a chance to admit the fabricated charges? Or give you a chance to cover up the truth and shut me up forever?”

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Hanson shouted angrily, realizing that he had been duped by Donna. Clearly, she didn't want to confess, so why did she come back? He suddenly had a bad vibe.

Alpha Hanson’s overwhelming force hit Donna, and he reprimanded, "Donna! It seems that you have no intention of repentance! Do you think you can defy the rules of the pack just because the Lycan King put in a few good words for you? Remember, this is the Red Moon pack! All that you did has disgraced the name of our pack!”

A sense of tingling and pressure from the mark on the back of her neck forced her to give in. Donna was slightly pale, but her eyes were sharper.

She looked straight at Hanson and said in a determined voice sarcastically, "You played around with another woman on the eve of the mate ceremony, used Alpha orders to force your mate to fight for your mistress, and tried to pass the buck to others. Hanson, you are the one who has humiliated the Red Moon pack!"

"How dare you! You're lying!" Hanson got so angry that he nearly lost control. He was purple-faced, glaring at her.

"This is a blatant provocation to Alpha’s authority!" An elder of the pack with a white beard and sinister eyes suddenly stood up.

He was a representative of the Alpha Council of Elders, known for his cruel means. His name was Barton, and he was specially invited by Hanson to testify for the clarification meeting.

Now Elder Barton pointed to Donna and rebuked, "Slander and provoke Alpha! No respect for the pack elders! Donna, your sin is unforgivable, and you must be severely punished according to the old rules of the werewolf group!"

Other elders of pack also echoed.

Hanson looked at Donna, who was alone but dared to challenge the authorities. He tried to keep control of his uneasiness in the heart and made up his mind that he would never let this woman have a chance to turn for the better, no matter what cost it is!

Hanson suppressed his anger and sighed falsely, "I had planned to punish Donna slightly, asking her to take care of Monica until she recovers. After all, Monica was wounded for the pack. I had never thought she would go crazy...."

This punishment was extremely insulting! There was complete silence in the hall, the sympathizers bowing their heads silently, and the henchmen showing great pleasure. Donna stood where she was, without any particular expression on her face.

At this time, Elder Barton opened his mouth again, "Alpha Hanson, if you are so kindhearted, how can you manage your pack well? For this kind of rebel, we must use the 'silver chain' to punish them!”

People could hear the sound of deep inhalation in the hall. The punishment was too harsh!

The silver chain was made of pure silver mixed with some special metal. The chain was engraved with runes, which had great restraint on the werewolves. Once someone was locked with the silver chain, it could not only limit their power and self-healing, but also cause constant pain. More importantly, this torture had long been banned by the royal family.

Hanson pretended to hesitate. "Will this punishment be too tough...? Well, Elder Barton is right. I can’t be too tolerant of Donna just because she is my mate. It's not fair! Now tie her up with the silver chain and then let her take care of Monica!”

Two execution guards came towards Donna with a cold, shining silver chain.

As the guards put the silver chain around Donna, she felt a burning pain warning from her skin.

The painful ordeal made her look paler, but she had a scornful laugh on her face, her eyes cold as ice.

The reaction of the audience under the stage was completely different. Some people gloated, laughing or urging them to execute it.

But most of the people were pale-faced, bowing their heads or closing their eyes because of fear. Some people who had been favored by Donna or just admired her clenched their hands with tears in their eyes. The air was brimming with depressed silence.

Fear and sympathy were mixed, but no one dared to resist at the moment.

Donna saw all this in her eyes, feeling colder and firmer in her heart.

She did not resist, and the guards wrapped the silver chain around her body. Donna instantly understood why the Lycan King family wanted to abolish the corporal punishment: her skin was burnt black, and the silver chain was burnt into her flesh, like countless knives stabbing into her body. And these knives seemed to have lives, biting, tearing and eating her blood and flesh with sharp teeth, and made her lost all the magic.

Freya wept bitterly in the depths of her heart, and the voice became weak and finally disappeared.

Sorry, Freya. Donna apologized to her partner.

Donna's body trembled. Although she was strong-willed, her physical weakness was true. She said in a hoarse voice, "Come on, take me to the house of Monica.”

All that happened in the Red Moon pack was soon reported to Lucas by the informers, and he transmitted the video recorded by the magic crystal to the Lycan King.

Black couldn't help laughing with admiration when he saw Donna mercilessly mock Hanson and the elders.

"What a sharp tongue!" Black said to himself in a gentle tone that surprised Lucas at his side.

But Black's face darkened when he saw Elder Patton propose using the torture of the silver chain on Donna.

No! You must stop them from doing it! Norton roared in Black's head.

Be Quiet! Black said anxiously to his partner. He had a premonition of what would happen next. To avoid things getting out of control, he forcibly blocked the voice of his partner.

When Black saw the guards approach Donna with a silver chain, he sprang up and asked Lucas in an icy voice, "Hasn't she sent a signal yet?”

"Not yet. My king," Lucas answered with care. He could not help proposing, "should we take action…right now?"

Black paused for a second, “... wait a minute.”

For the first time in his life, Lucas heard the hesitation in Black's commands.

Then it all happened: Donna took the torture of the silver chain with no resistance. Now the execution was over, but she still didn’t send the signal of action to Black.
