Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Repay the Blood Debt You Owe My People

Russell was greatly surprised.

Logically, each time the Flaxans invaded, he had slaughtered them completely. After suffering such devastating defeats, shouldn't the Flaxans have postponed their plans to invade Earth?

Why did they seem even more aggressive and invasive than in the original storyline?

"Could it be that in the original plot, the Flaxans believed they held the advantage, so they attacked at a measured pace? Now, after suffering two disastrous invasions, they've become desperate—eager to probe the true strength of Earth?"

Russell changed into his newly developed battle suit and flew toward the city center with Mark. He glanced back to see the quarreling couple and then soared into the sky.

"Nolan, why aren't you going? The city needs you." Aunt Debbie urged her husband, Omni-Man, to go as well—to prevent anything from happening to the boys.

She had seen the news in recent days and understood how terrifying the Flaxans were.

"I want to seriously talk about Mark's schooling," Nolan said, arms crossed, standing firm.

"You... Nolan, you..."

Debbie was furious.

Downtown Chicago.

This time, with experience from past attacks, as soon as the sky split open with rings of orange-red light, the mourning citizens immediately tried to flee—but they couldn't outrun the lasers.

Three dimensional rifts opened simultaneously this time, and a massive Flaxan army surged out like a tidal wave, slaughtering anyone in sight.

Their laser rifles had been further upgraded, now essentially functioning as disintegration beams. They no longer pierced the body—they incinerated it into charred husks.

Boom!

Tanks rolled into the square. A giant steel foot stomped on a fleeing man, crushing him into pulp. A three-meter-tall white mech stepped over him as if squashing an ant, its gaze sweeping the area with cold disdain.

"We've got bad news, everyone…"

The Teen Team rushed in after receiving the alert. A robot riding a hover-bike scanned the Flaxans' weaponry and tanks from afar.

As expected, several more rounds of tech iteration had occurred. Their technology had surpassed Earth's by an unimaginable margin.

"They're too many… their technology too advanced. We can't hold them off…"

"Oh, and what's new about that? Robot, spare us the obvious." Rex Splode scoffed from the back of the hover-bike.

When had the Flaxans ever invaded with small numbers or outdated equipment?

"What, are we just not going to fight because they're strong?"

When the robot scanned a towering mech exuding overwhelming pressure, and its energy levels exceeded all measurable limits, even he—usually composed—froze for a moment.

"I've contacted Invincible. He and his cousin Infinity Man will be here shortly," Eve said, flying nearby and trying to encourage her teammates.

"No, this time it's different, Eve.

Did you see that mech?"

Amid the army, the towering white mech stood three meters tall. Its smooth alloy armor glinted coldly in the setting sun. There were no seams or rivets on its streamlined chassis—just a single piece of icy steel.

Its faceplate was a curved obsidian-like crystal. No visible sensors or eyepieces—just a void that devoured all light.

While the army around it surged forward to capture districts, it stood still, arms crossed—like a steel god waiting coldly and solemnly for its destined prey.

"That thing constantly emits energy levels comparable to a nuclear explosion.

Even Invincible and Infinity Man may not be able to stop it this time!"

"We should consider this city lost. I'll contact the Global Defense Agency and prepare a nuclear strike," the robot said, now completely composed, his mechanical voice cold and emotionless.

It was, under the circumstances, the most rational decision.

"No! There are still millions of civilians here—we can't just abandon them!" Eve furrowed her brows. She refused to resort to nukes before even trying to fight.

"Look! Invincible's here! And… is that Infinity Man?" Kate, the clone-girl, pointed skyward from her hover-bike.

Two caped figures appeared in the sky, too fast for the naked eye to follow.

One was the familiar Invincible.

The other wore a sleek black battle suit and flowing cape like a robe. An infinity symbol was emblazoned on his chest like a blood-red brand, radiating a crushing aura.

"It's him. That symbol is ∞—he's changed outfits," the robot said after scanning Russell's height and limb ratios. He recognized him immediately.

"They've arrived, Earthlings."

Inside the cockpit of the white armored mech, the Flaxan general looked up. Data refreshed on his holographic display—he too recognized Russell.

He slowly lowered his arms, a hunter ready to begin his hunt, a twisted grin spreading across his face.

"You, who twice annihilated our armies—your blood debt will be paid today. With this ultimate mech forged by the full might of our civilization, I will end you!"

Mark noticed that many civilians still hadn't evacuated. He dove down to help. Russell moved too—only to see a figure explode from the ground like lightning and punch toward him.

Boom!

Russell raised a hand to block, but the next second, it felt like a mountain had slammed into him. The shockwave blasted Mark away, shattered nearby building windows, and sent shards raining down like glass rain.

Russell was hurled through the air, carving a deep trench dozens of meters long into the asphalt before skidding to a stop.

Dust and smoke billowed everywhere.

Bang!

"Cousin!" Mark shouted, furious. He threw a punch at the mech—only for it to be caught.

Mark was stunned. Even with his strength, he couldn't overpower the mech.

"Out of my way!" a cold mechanical voice echoed from within. The Flaxan general, piloting the ultimate mech, flung Mark like a ragdoll.

Mark was sent flying like a baseball, smashing through two skyscrapers before disappearing into the distance.

The general didn't spare him a glance. He charged straight at Russell.

Vrrrm!

Mach rings and fire burst from his back. The Flaxan general pushed his control levers, aiming to strike the downed Russell while he was vulnerable.

"Repay the blood debt you owe my people, monster!"

His massive mech body pierced the smoke like a missile. The shockwave cleared the air. His blazing steel fist, trailing fire, descended like a meteor.

"So… you're the Flaxans' ultimate weapon… built just for me?" Russell muttered as he caught the blazing, power-packed punch with a single hand.

The clash between man and mech shattered the ground beneath them—cracks spread for dozens of meters in all directions.

A milky-white shockwave exploded outward, snapping cypress trees along the road in an instant.

"You… you caught the punch of the ultimate mech?" the Flaxan general's voice trembled with shock. "According to our assessments, this mech's power should far exceed yours!"

The Flaxans had a time advantage. Generations had worked on this machine. It combined their planet's entire technological might and was supposed to easily obliterate the one who had twice stopped their conquest.

"In the past few days, I've grown a bit stronger," Russell said with a faint smile. He pulled his right arm back—muscles coiling like steel cables—and slammed his fist into the mech's chest.
