Chapter 9 - Chapter 2

"Don't be a drama queen, Jessie," Forona was legit bullying me.

"Did Jessie ask you to make her look hot?" the pretty senior in the pink dress asked Kai.

He nodded. I kept glancing at Kai—not because I liked his handsome face or anything. I was just annoyed… that's the only reason… it really is.

As Jennifer pst-ed at me, my attention turned to her. She was right next to me.Oh wait, I didn't introduce you guys to Jennifer, did I? Jennifer is my best friend. I also call her Princess 'cause she's really pretty. She has long brown hair and big brown eyes, just like a princess's.Oh, and there's also Albin. He's huge compared to Jennifer and me. All three of us do everything together—well, most things. We're in the painting club and we have the same classes at school.

"Jessie, you seriously have to embarrass yourself, don't you?" she whispered to me, but my response was definitely not a whisper.

"Huhhh? When did I embarrass myself?"

Everyone looked at us. Forona started nagging me while Kai burst into laughter.I, of course, kicked him and told him to stop laughing, but that only made Forona nag me more.

In the end, Jennifer, Kai, and I got kicked out. Oh—and Albin got kicked out too. Poor boy.Anyway, Forona said that the four of us had to write an apology letter and bake a cake for everyone. But we had to bake it together and film it to prove we actually did it as a group.

Here I thought I'd never see Kai again… but apparently, my luck is worse than a fish's.

I exchanged looks with Jennifer, and before I could say anything, it started pouring rain. It hadn't rained this much in years. Within seconds, all four of us were soaked.

My eyes never left Princess's."Uhm, so… is there any nearby buses from here?" Kai asked, like it wasn't right in front of him.

The bus stop was literally right next to us.

"No, you need to fly with wings to get there," I said, my dumbass joke hanging in the air with no reaction from anyone. The silence was painfully awkward.

After a few seconds that felt like hours, Albin finally broke it.

"It's right over there," he said, pointing at the bus stop.

"Thanks." Kai left right away.

"I'm going too," Jennifer said, and Albin followed her.

I was left all alone. Soaking wet. No car. Nothing.

I grumbled, glancing at my hair. Maybe I should find a coin on the ground or something—might give me a sliver of luck.

After grabbing my bag, which had just fallen, I scanned the area and ran as fast as I could to the train station. I held the bag over my head to stop the rain from soaking me even more than it already had.

As I made my way there, I felt this deep sense of sadness and loneliness. My chest felt heavy and tight. It was hard to breathe. My throat burned, just like my nose.

The train that was right in front of me… drove off, leaving me behind.

The next one wouldn't come for another two hours. Here I am. Left all alone. At least the cold rain against my skin made me feel a little less lonely.

To be continued…
