"So, everyone, it's time we take a look at each other's paintings," the senior announced.
As I looked around, I immediately felt embarrassed. Everyone's paintings were so good—and then there was mine, drenched in depressive colors and blood. Great.
"Jessie, I see you didn't paint Kai," someone said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I did," I replied, staring at my painting, scrambling for something to say next.
"Hm. There's no face. Not even eyes."
"I didn't paint him how everyone sees him. I painted him how I see him."
What am I even saying? Someone help.
"Can you explain a bit more, Jessie? Don't make me ask about every single detail," the senior added, clearly annoyed. It was painfully obvious.
Sorry, pretty seniors, for wasting your precious time.
"His black hair reminded me of his black hair," I said—yes, I actually said that—"and the blood... it's just like his smile. Sweet and beautiful."
Kai was staring at me. He looked shocked. Honestly? So was I. How did I even come up with that? Wait—does that make me a genius?
Everyone around was trying their best not to laugh. It wasn't the first time I painted something completely off-topic because I got distracted by my thoughts. And every time, I managed to pull some random explanation out of thin air that somehow saved me.
I glanced at Kai. He was turning red from holding back laughter.
Unbelievable. It wasn't that funny.
Then I looked at the senior in the pink dress.
Please help me. Please save this poor innocent soul. This is so awkward and humiliating.
"Let's move on," another senior said. She was wearing a black mini skirt and a matching black shirt. Her name was Forona. "Kai, you didn't paint Jessie, did you?"
"I did," he replied.
"No way this is Jessie."
"Why's that, miss?"
It felt like they were fighting, even though they were both smiling. Weird tension.
"Jessie's never been this hot."
I looked at Forona—I mean Forona.
"Are you for real?! That's extremely mean." I dramatically pulled out a tissue and wiped away nonexistent tears. "Don't be a drama queen, Jessie," Forona said, completely bullying me at this point.
"Did Jessie ask you to make her look hot?" the senior in the pink dress asked Kai.
He nodded.
