As soon as he heard the sound, Kain decided that it was time to run.
If he ever got caught, he would be branded as a criminal.
Actually, Kain was sure that he was already a criminal by now. His ID would've probably been found out already as there were many CCTV cameras.
But Kain didn't care, as long as he got strong, he would be able to protect whatever he wanted. Whether it be himself, or his friends.
Kain had no hope of getting Eren back, so... Kain decided that he needed a change. A change for the better.
Kain sprinted towards the Southern Gate as it was only 300 meters away.
Kain ran at full speed, he heard many footsteps behind him but he didn't stop to look back.
He ran. As fast as he could.
As soon as he ran to the door of the Tower, he stopped to look back, the guards also stopped.
"Listen Mr. Kain, please stop right there, you do not know what you are doing," replied the guard man.
"Do not know what I am doing? If I was allowed to enter the tower alone, I would've never thought of doing such a thing," replied Kain, enjoying the scenario.
"Mr. Kain, the WGC has made such a rule for the safety of common people. If you return with us now, you can still survive. But inside? You would die, Mr. Kain. Come, let's return," said the old policeman with a calm smile over his face.
He looked very trustable.
Kain walked towards the direction of the policeman.
Seeing the boy return, the policeman's smile slowly started to become creepy.
But then, the boy stopped.
"What is it, boy?" asked the policeman.
"Well, your smile would've made anyone fall for it. But not me!" replied Kain.
Previously...
When Kain was walking towards the man he activated:
'Treasure Sense'
Instantly, Kain felt all kinds of variables. Including the traps around him, the policeman's true emotions behind his face, and the two camouflaged policemen who were hiding near the bushes.
As soon as he saw it, he inwardly sneered.
"Heh... letting me live? You all seem to have been well prepared to kill me," spoke Kain as he turned back and instantly ran into the Gate of the tower.
"Shit. He entered the tower, now we can never catch him," spoke the policeman as he stomped his leg on the ground.
Soon, a voice came.
*T-ding* *T-ding*
"Y-Yes sir!" spoke the policeman as he picked up the call from an unknown number on his mobile phone.
"Did the boy get caught?" came the voice of an old man.
"Sorry Sir, we were unable to catch him, he was able to resist my powers, sir," replied the old man.
"He was able to resist, huh? Well that's new... anyways, keep a better eye on the tower doors from now on, and consider that Kain boy dead," spoke the voice from the phone as the call ended.
"Sigh..." the old policeman sighed.
"Go on with your own work, the boy will be dead sooner or later. It's a shame we cannot have his dead body for his relatives," spoke the old policeman as he left as well.
...
Currently Kain was now inside the Tower of Evolution.
When someone enters a Tower of Evolution, they always have a meeting with 'The Celestial'. Of course, this name was given by humanity itself.
The Celestial is an entity that will answer all tower related questions, he would appear all the time when someone first enters the tower.
And the same was for Kain Umbrosia as well.
Currently inside a smaller version of the Big Hall which humanity had first come in, several humans were sitting in it.
One of them was Kain as well.
There were more than 500 humans sitting in this hall.
At the stage, there was a holographic figure that was currently slowly materializing in front of them.
After a few seconds, it materialized.
This was the Celestial.
A divine being of the tower, often assumed to be the true owner of these towers.
But what is the real truth? No one knows.
"Welcome Humans To--", the celestial was about to speak but then it stopped.
As it looked towards Kain.
It didn't have any eyes or any expression, it didn't even use its mouth to speak, but just one look.
Just one look was enough from him to make him run for his life.
Of course, he would've already done that if he could, that is.
"Welcome Humans and Vampires to The Tower of Evolution," spoke the celestial.
*Thump*
A huge lump of pain assaulted Kain's throat.
He didn't dare to speak anything, he couldn't.
'Just one look, just one look from him was enough to differentiate me from the others,' Kain thought while sweating.
*bdump* *bdump*
But for some reason, nobody turned to look at him.
It was either that they couldn't, or they just didn't hear the word Vampire from its mouth.
Truly a mystery.
"As you may know, this trial is for the evolution of your race. For its survival and for its prosperity," it spoke as it continued:
"I shall now give you a brief introduction of what truly these trials are supposed to be."
"After all, most of you might just spend thousands of years in the tower, clearing it."
The figure looked around as if checking if someone has any questions.
*silence*
"Okay so first thing first, every single floor you go to is a world in itself."
"And... they all are as real as the world you live in."
*boooom*
It was as if a bombshell was just dropped.
"What?!" everyone screamed out as if in great shock.
*murmur* *murmur*
The crowd fell into murmuring.
Soon, the murmuring stopped as everyone looked at the front again.
"For each floor, you all will be given a quest to clear, each quest will be different and will not intertwine with another's, hence you all don't need to battle among yourselves and kill each other.
"Remember this, trials are meant for humanity's evolution. And humanity needs to use its biggest power in all nature to triumph over these trials..."
Spoke the figure as its image slowly faded.
After about a few minutes, every single person also started to disappear.
Soon Kain's figure also disappeared.
...
*Swish* *swoosh*
*swish* *swoosh*
Currently,
Kain was inside of a wormhole. He was being transported to a different world completely.
Mana, more correctly, the essence of mana, a form of signature that is unique to the world. It was something every mana user in the world could instinctively feel.
But about 2 hours ago, that essence had changed. The mana was still there, he could feel it. But he was sure that something about it had changed, it was now something... different.
Suddenly a bright circle of light appeared at the far end of the tunnel.
After many hours of travelling, Kain had finally arrived at the exit.
...
A few more minutes later, Kain now was only a few meters away from the hole.
Soon, Kain arrived outside of the wormhole.
As soon as he got outside, he was ambushed by a snow blizzard.
"What? A snow blizzard? Is my luck so bad?" spoke Kain, when he finally noticed something.
He was falling.
And it has been at least 20 seconds since he was falling.
That means?
"Ahhhh fuck! I do not want to die from fall damage!" shouted Kain, "They cannot even set the teleportation coordinates well?!"
The wind wooshed past his ears at a very astonishing speed.
After a few seconds, suddenly the fog-like snow faded away.
As kain looked up, he saw...
clouds.
Yes, clouds — and not just any clouds. These clouds stretched endlessly, a vast sea of white and silver that cloaked the world below. From his high altitude, Kain could faintly see them curving toward the planet's horizon, as if the entire land had been wrapped by them.
Then, with a quiet breath, he turned his gaze downward.
And there — his eyes met something else.
Rising above a frozen ocean was a colossal structure, majestic and otherworldly. A castle.
It shimmered with a cold, ethereal light, its spires piercing through even the clouds. The entire fortress seemed to be sculpted from translucent blue crystal or frozen glass. Around its base, a city clung to the frozen plateau like frost to glass.
Kain's breath caught. He had no idea what this place was, or how it could even exist in such a frigid, isolated sky. He was in a new world — that much was certain.
but then kain looked downwards.
There, he could see something.
He was going to fall over flat ground.
As soon as he was about to fall over ground, suddenly...
*Flap* *Flap*
*Woosh* *woosh* *woosh*
Various different kinds of sounds came into kain's ears. As kain decided to look ever the direction the sounds came from.
what he saw was something that anyone would cover under.
A Dragon.
And not just any small dragon.
A colossal dragon.
Its head was huge — as big as a cathedral. Sharp ice-covered horns jutted out from its skull, and its eyes glowed with a cold, blue light. Just looking into them made Kain feel like the creature could see everything about him. When the dragon breathed, thick mist poured out, turning the air around it into snow.
Its body was like a moving mountain, covered in icy scales that sparkled like frozen glass. Each wing was wide enough to cast a shadow over an entire village, and with just one flap, the air shook. Long spikes of ice ran down its back, and its claws were as long as spears, digging into the frozen ground with each step.
This was no ordinary creature.
And suddenly,
*blank*
He fainted.
...
*lick* *lick*
Sounds of licking came from a room.
Soon, Kain woke up as he slowly opened his eyes.
and there he saw it.
A Giant Toung, which was currently moving towards him.
He quickly moved away from the toung as he started the wipe away the saliva over his face.
The toung also gave way as it curled back, allowing Kain to settle himself up.
After cleaning himself,
Kain decided to look at the direction of the toung and got stunned.
He saw it.
He saw the dragon, looking directly at him.
Kain could no longer look over in the dragon's eyes directly.
He truely felt small.
He could not describe this feeling.
But from what he knew, the dragon had saved his life. If not for the dragon, Kain would've probably died.
After getting shocked, he decided to slowly compose himself or he might just get himself killed for no reason.
"Wh- Who- S-Sir dragon! if i many not be rude...would you please tell me why did you save me?", he composed himself as he stood up, cleaning dust off his pants.
*silence*
After a few minutes of the dragon silently looking at him, it spoke.
"Who are you child.", it spoke in a feminin yet ancient voice.
"Oh i am sorry, I am Kain.... Just Kain" spoke kain. He decided not to let his family name out.
"Just Kain?", the dragon repeated, "is it that Kain is your surname, or you are planning to hide your family's name to me?", the dragon spoke as it put it's head on ground to talk barelt on eye level.
It then spoke.
"Vampire?"
