Chapter 8 - Spectacular luck

The reason why a strong S-Class Esper like Aslan wasn't able to detect that a small fry like Melodie was on his tail was because Melodie was inexplicably skilled in the art of stalking and had the proper gadgets to help him in his morally-questionable escapades.

On Melodie's right ear was a clip-on earring that gave him the ability to become invisible. It was a C-Grade gadget, useful enough to keep him incognito.

Melodie stopped to watch carefully as Aslan walked into Remington's room discreetly. No one else was lurking around this area because Remington was in cool down mode from his previous rampage.

He was still a risk to the public, so anyone with even half a brain wouldn't dare to come near his room. Aslan and Melodie could be said to be special cases at this time.

Aslan himself had secretly come here, so Melodie didn't feel guilty about secretly following Aslan.

Melodie quietly walked towards the closed room and was about to push open the door slightly when he realized that Aslan set up an invisible barrier around the room and also soundproofed it with a magic gadget.

Melodie's thoughts instantly became lewd.

Aslan coming to visit post-rampage Remington after shutting himself from the world could only mean one thing—he missed Remington dearly! And he wanted to sneak in a few kisses from his man which is why he set up a privacy wall!

Melodie believed that his luck was spectacular today. He had unconsciously grabbed his A-Grade Glasses that could see through any material and his B-Grade hearing aid before he began to tail Aslan.

Who would have thought that he'd get to use the devices for stalking now?

Melodie quickly set up the glasses before he was able to see what was going on inside the room without needing to open the door.

Unfortunately, Aslan and Remington weren't passionately making out like he thought. Remington was sitting up on the sickbed, equipped with the usual white and blue striped clinic wear. Unlike other people, he looked gorgeous in it.

Meanwhile, Aslan was standing over the bed with his arms crossed. The tank top he was wearing had never looked so filling before this moment.

After shamelessly satisfying his lustful eyes, Melodie set up his hearing aid.

"... What are we going to do now?" He heard Remington ask with a helpless tone.

"No idea. I left no stone unturned, yet I couldn't find a single relevant info about it. How's yours? Mine stopped glowing yesterday." Aslan said to Remington.

Melodie's brows furrowed. What the hell were they talking about? Where was his live porn??

In response to Aslan's words, Remington lifted the hem of his top. Melodie's mouth fell open. Not because of Remington's perfectly toned abs, but because there was a familiar symbol by the left side of his abdomen.

It was a heart encased in vines with four distinct thorns digging into it. And it had a dim blue glow that was almost unnoticeable.

Melodie could suddenly hear his own heart pounding in his head. That symbol…

"It's still glowing. And aching too, but only a little bit. I feel like the pain is lessening. Heck, since you walked into this room it doesn't hurt that much anymore." Remington said, then covered up his belly.

"What are you trying to say? My presence is soothing?" One side of Aslan's lips tugged up in amusement.

Remington didn't say anything, only glaring at the other person. Aslan sobered quickly and spoke in a serious tone.

"But don't you think it's weird? It's supposed to mean something or at least do something. So far, the only thing it's done is glow and ache. What if the symbol represents a dungeon disease that can drain our abilities or it's a curse from the dungeon boss?"

"It's not…" Melodie whispered thoughtlessly.

Though the sound was almost inaudible, the two guys in the room seemed to have heard it clearly. Aslan, with his fast reflexes, was the first to react.

Melodie didn't have any idea that he'd been caught as Aslan flew forward and swung the door open in the span of half a second.

Melodie panicked and fell on his butt in surprise as he jerked away from the door, unconsciously letting out an "ouch."

His clip-on earring failed him at that moment, slipping out from his earlobe without any warning due to his rapid movement.

"You again…" Aslan's eyes turned cold, recognizing Melodie in a flash.

It was only then that Melodie realized Aslan could see him. He was about to explain himself or run away—whichever one his reflexes activated first—but Aslan reached for him in a flash, grabbed him, and flung him inside the room.

"Aah!" Melodie exclaimed in pain as he landed on his elbows, his right knee making a sound impact with the polished tiles.

"Owww…" he groaned in pain, trying to get up from the floor.

He had only lifted his head when he saw that Aslan had already conjured a ball of flames to attack him with. And Remington was staring at him with the intent to kill.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Wait!" Melodie stalled, scooting away from both guys on the floor.

"He heard what we were talking about. End him." Remington said to Aslan with a ruthless tone.

Aslan was more than willing to oblige as the ball of flames in his palm sparked hungrily.

"No, don't end me, please! Yes, I heard what you guys were talking about, but I'm not going to tell anyone. I promise." Tears glistened Melodie's eyes as he spoke in panic.

He was foolish to think that he had spectacular luck today. He had the worst luck; to have been caught by his idols once again in his first expedition of stalking them after what happened the last time, wasn't this the peak of bad luck??

"What are you waiting for? Burn him to a crisp." Remington pressed in urgency, eager to see Melodie's life come to an end.

"No, why are you saying that? Just listen to me. Listen to me, I have it, too! That symbol—I have it, too!" Melodie scrambled for his life as Aslan was about to set him ablaze.

The raging flames in Aslan's hand seemed to lose its flare as he slowly questioned, "You have what, too?"

Melodie didn't respond verbally. He instead drew his shirt upwards to reveal his slim, white belly. In a similar location to where the symbol on Remington's body rested, there was a replica of it on Melodie's skin.

But the symbol on Melodie's skin glowed with a boding green color.
