Ed got out of bed and showered, making himself ready for the day. When he went to his lover, he gently shook him awake. "Wake up, baby. We have a meeting across the divisional line several hours away."
Carter stretched slowly. "Can you make this one without me? I'm real tired this morning and I'm a little off. Why don't you take Tim with you today? I'm sure the construction department can spare him for a few hours or even the whole day. Maybe I'll feel better when you get back."
Ed left Carter in bed, kissed him goodbye, then closed the door behind himself.
Tim was in the kitchen area drinking a cup of coffee when Ed entered the room. "I need you to go tell Jared that you are going with me today. You can see how I run this end of the company—you know all about running a ranch, now you'll see what it takes to run the business end of a company. It will give you good knowledge for later on."
