Chapter 6 - The wedding ceremony

GIOVANNI'S POV

Long time ago, an omega was fated to a Lycan king, but something unfortunate happened.

The omega was accused of having an affair with the Alpha king, which was an abomination.

Lycan wolves had been enemies with the werewolves for long and finding out that the Luna was carrying the child of an enemy, she was sentenced to a brutal death.

As she breathed her last breath, she placed a curse on the pack with pain and agony.

With her curse coming into manifestation, her innocence was proven but her curse remained. Every royal family was cursed to be unable to bear children with she-wolves.

Our ancestors searched high and low for a solution to her curse after two generations had passed without an heir.

One fortunate day a solution was found. Since we couldn't mate with she-wolves, we could with humans.

It was suggested that humans and Lycan exist together, but our ancestors forbade that without an explanation.

This was the reason human's females were brought into our pack every twenty years. Well, my mother was human before getting marked by my father.

As Lycan wolves, we were to mark our mate by biting each other's neck but because we could no longer mate with our type, we mated with female humans by breaking her hymen, hence, she must be a virgin.

Trust me when I say that I do not care about the tradition or if the pack ended up falling and getting dominated by the werewolves but as I was royal, I had to participate in all this ritual and activities.

Ever since I saw this Brittany girl, I knew there would be no future for us, especially when I had a woman in my heart. Although the she-wolf I wanted knew nothing about my feelings for her.

For years my elder brother had always talked about ruling the pack but to everyone's surprise, during the ritual, he wasn't chosen by the human girl.

Why on earth would she choose me? I was the last son in the family and even though I was trained, I never wanted the post of the Alpha.

Since we were three brothers we went through a test to prove our abilities but our strengths were promising enough for us to rule, leading to the human girl choosing between us.

If I knew that at some point, my brothers and I were undergoing some test, I would have deliberately failed the test but now look, the dumb human girl chose me over my brothers.

I was so unfortunate. Now I was the ruler of the Red Moon Circle, and it was all because the human girl chose to be stupid.

My name is Giovanni Constantine and I'm thirty-five years old. I know you must be wondering why I was this old when we get our Luna from the human world every twenty years.

Well, the previous human girl who was supposed to have a child for my elder brother killed herself after learning everything about Lycans.

She also had a love story with a human, so before my brother, Giuseppe could mate with her on their wedding night, she killed herself, only for him to meet her unalive body on the bed that night.

That was the first female human in history to take her own life. I mean being a wolf wasn't that scary.

Well, I was now the Alpha of this pack, and was married to this human girl and I also had to mate with her after this event.

The crowd celebrated the union between Brittany and I by drinking, dancing, playing music, and eating while I looked around for the particular lady I wanted.

I knew she would be among the crowd but where was she?

I was just about to go look for her; all I wanted was to see her beautiful face but Healer Enzo had to stop me.

"This is strange, Alpha Giovanni," he whispered to me because of the human girl standing with me.

"I don't know why she chose me," I explained to him. Like I said, I wasn't the one fit for this position. I would only bring downfall to this pack.

I could see the disappointment in my father's eyes when my eyes landed on him as I searched for my beloved.

Giuseppe was the one who should be crowned the Alpha and not me.

"It's not just about the human girl, it's about fate," he said and I focused my gaze on him.

I sighed and cleared my gaze as if I was drunk. "Why would fate choose me then?"

"There must be something special," he smiled. "There must be something special about this human girl, Giovanni, so please take care of her."

"What's special about her?" I glanced at her and as if she knew we were talking about her, she looked my way and almost rolled her eyes as she looked away from me.

Such audacity! Did she just mock me, the Alpha?!

I couldn't be angry because Healer Enzo decided to talk. "Picking a soulless man like you makes her special. Oh, Giovanni, do not cause her pain. She's our only hope for we'd have to wait another twenty years if she fails to bear us an heir," he placed his hand on my shoulder as a gesture and walked away.

I watched this human girl, wondering what she was thinking about as she looked around.

She did absolutely nothing but choosing me as the Alpha would be the greatest mistake she had ever made.

I attempted to walk up to her but just as I was able to move, she walked away and with my gaze on her, I noticed that she was walking straight to Gloria, the woman I wanted.

Gloria was an omega, which was why she was a maid in the palace. Well, my feelings happened one night when I was laying on a tree.

In her group of friends, her beauty caught my attention but with what happened long ago, omega and members of the royal family were never to exist together as a couple. It was forbidden.

So I could only love her from afar. Sad.

I joined the party and decided to play the violin. I placed the violin under my chin and began to play.

At first, I played to follow the sound of the song playing but before I knew what was going on, I got lost.

Though my fingers and neck were starting to ache, I couldn't stop. I got lost in the sound and it was beautiful.

Well, it ended soon and just while I was stretching my neck and fingers, I saw Giuseppe watching the party from afar and he looked dissatisfied and angry.

Trust me brother, I wish I was in the forest by now, laying on the tree while you enjoy the wedding ceremony with the human girl but she chose me.

'Giovanni, it is time you take your Luna with you,' Healer Enzo mind-linked me, so I walked up to the human girl who was sitting with the children and having them touch her hair.

She looked up at me without flinching. She must be familiar with us to look at me with no fear as expected.

"Do you need something?" She asked.

"You," I replied. I needed her.
