Chapter 7 - Dirty man

BRITTANY'S POV

"Me?" I pointed at myself, giving him that look of disbelief.

Why would an arrogant man like this Giovanni need me? That was impossible and if he ever truly needed me, I would never be of assistance to him because I liked nothing about him.

He outstretched his hand, gesturing that I took his hand. "Why do you need me?" I asked, ignoring that he offered his hand to me. I could not just go with him, but I think I was forgetting the fact that I was married to him, as that was a valid reason to go anywhere with him.

Well, it was still hard for me to adapt to everything that was occurring but as planned I would keep playing along since it happened to be the best thing I could do at this point of my life.

He didn't reply, he just took my hand forcefully, but I pulled back. "I don't need you to take my hand, just lead the way," I said to him.

He took a moment to stare at me with a big frown on his face. I frowned back at him. I wasn't going to tolerate his rubbish behavior. Yes, I was younger, way younger but I wouldn't be here if they didn't bring me here, so they had to also comply with what I wanted, including him.

It looked like he was going to flare up but as though he was trying to control himself, he drew his gaze away from me, and I followed the direction of where he was facing only to see that he was staring at Gloria.

What was with him and Gloria?

I didn't care so I did not stress my head for him. I walked away from him before he could look back at me.

I went away because I needed time to understand some things through the information I had. But the next thing that happened to me was beyond my imagination.

The arrogant Giovanni came again, disturbing the peace I needed. He lifted my body as if it was nothing but a bag of maize. "Is it that you don't know how to respect a woman and her privacy?" I asked as he walked with my body over his shoulder.

"Listen to me, Giovanni, if you weren't taught, I could teach you for free because your attitude is disgusting!"

"Will you shut up? Your voice makes me terribly sick," he commented.

"Then let me down! I don't like that my skin is touching your dirty skin. Let me down!" I began to hit my fist on his back continuously.

"Brittany!" he yelled. Did he just yell at me? How dare he? Nobody in my village has ever yelled at me.

"Let me go!" I insisted. Seriously, I wish I was home with my family. I wished I was never involved in this mess, and I wish I never knew who this man was.

"I can't with you!" he let me down eventually and we happened to be alone at that moment. I hated the way he was yelling.

"Why are you shouting at me?" I yelled back. "I wasn't the one who made us get married. It was your stupid tradition, so why have you been venting at me? It is not my fault!"

"Look, you may be arrogant and ill-mannered to others, but while they all tolerate this stupid behavior of yours, do not expect that from me. I don't care if you end my life in the process."

I walked away as I couldn't stand his presence. Trust me, I did not know where I was going but I preferred being lost to standing with a beast like him.

He thought I didn't notice how he had been acting around me. If he was so disgusted by me, why didn't he just decline to marry me?

Okay, I was upset, very angry.

I kept delving into the dark forest not knowing where I was headed. It was my first time knowing the existence of these people and I already hated one of them. I hated the way he looked at me and how he acted like he was the wisest. I also hated how nonchalant he was.

After going a bit too far into the forest, I finally calmed down and looked back at me as if he was still behind me. "Dirty man," I murmured to myself.

"Who has annoyed our new Luna?" I was caught by surprise when I heard another masculine voice. I instantly looked in front of me to see who said that but there was no one there.

"Who's there?" I asked. What was I to fear after being sacrificed by my community? Therefore, even though I was scared, I wasn't as sad as I was when I was departing from my home.

They all think I was dead anyway but still, I wanted to live.

"Luna Brittany Constantine," the voice returned and I heard something landing behind me.

I turned around, trembling inwardly. It was a tall, good-looking gentleman. He was as old as the beast I married but that wasn't the case, the point here was, who was he and why was he concerned about me to know my identity, even though I did not know what it meant to be a Luna?

Ah, everything here was complex, I tell you. I didn't even know who I was anymore. And now, I no longer bear my father's name.

What more would surprise me now?

"Who are you?" I asked, bringing my hands to cross under my breasts. I sighed, waiting for a response from him.

"Unfortunately, Luna Brittany, you didn't choose me. If you had, I would treat you better than this. My brother, Giovanni, had always been that way ever since he was born. I'm afraid that you will have to put up with his attitude."

Oh, so this was his brother and perhaps he was right when he said that he was better than that Giovanni but there was no turning back now as I had married his brother.

I had nothing to say as I did not know where he was going.

"My bad," he said and took my hand to kiss my knuckle. "My name is Giuseppe Constantine, and I am your brother-in-law. I was supposed to be the one you choose but sometimes things don't work out in a particular way. Would you give up if that were to happen to you?"

His smile was creepy but somehow, he motivated me not to give up reuniting with my family, even if it meant bringing them here. I shook my head.

"Then, I believe there is still a chance to have you and also the throne."

Wait, what did he mean by that? What was he going to do?

Trust me, that sounded suspicious.
