Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Life Return

Unknowingly, nine days had passed.

The countdown in Uchiha Yuan's mind finally hit zero.

He quickly checked the changes to the wheel. Ultimately, he noticed that aside from the wheel growing slightly larger, there seemed to be no other visible changes.

"Looks like I'll have to actually use the text-based game to experience what changed," he thought, and spun the wheel.

Previously, every time Yuan spun the wheel, a mysterious energy would sweep over his body. It felt as if something had been drawn from him, but at the same time, as if nothing had been taken—a strange sensation.

Then his vision would shift. The wheel would disappear, replaced by countless glowing dots dispersing in all directions, like a dazzling meteor shower in the depths of the starry sky. As the light reassembled, lines of text would appear.

But this time, the effects were clearly much more extravagant. If previous spins were like meteor showers, this one was a full-on Big Bang.

The text that reformed wasn't just plain black font anymore—it looked black, but within it shimmered multicolored hues, like a five-colored black that shifted subtly.

"You have logged into the parallel dimension of Naruto."

"Parallel dimension?" Yuan was a little surprised.

"It is now Konoha Year 63. The Hokage is the Fifth, Tsunade."

"You are an unremarkable chunin of Konoha. Guided by the Will of Fire, you diligently complete missions and dedicate yourself wholly to the village."

"After a long day of work, you arrive at an izakaya. It's well located—look up and you can see the four Hokage faces carved into the mountain."

"Your greatest idol is the Fourth Hokage—Haruno Kizashi."

At the name "Haruno Kizashi", Yuan furrowed his brow. What kind of parallel world is this? This is clearly the Infinite Tsukuyomi world!

"After admiring the heroic visage of the Fourth Hokage, you step into the izakaya."

"After a hearty meal and some drinks, you return home and fall asleep."

"Late at night, a violent explosion jolts the village. You wake up abruptly, hurriedly get dressed, and rush outside."

"Hovering above Konoha is a man in a blue robe with black hair and a fox mask. The powerful chakra he emits makes it hard for you to even look at him directly."

"In his hand is a dense black chakra sphere, which begins to expand before he hurls it down at the village."

"BOOM! With a deafening roar and a flash of white light, everything ends for you."

"You died beneath Uzumaki Menma's Giant Rasengan."

"Game Over."

"Rewards: Attribute Point x1, Character Skill Extraction Chance x1."

After reading the rewards, Yuan understood what the upgrade had changed. Most likely, from now on, every time he finished a text-based game scenario, he would gain the chance to extract a character's ability.

He chose to extract.

A small wheel materialized in the air, divided into a dozen or so sections.

Each section had a different reward: ninjutsu, taijutsu, even personal possessions...

At a glance, the best prize was 200,000 ryo in cash.

The most advanced jutsu listed was only C-rank—nothing worth learning.

Yuan casually spun the wheel. The pointer eventually stopped on a C-rank Wind Release: Wind Style: Great Breakthrough.

"Since the player already knows this technique, it has been converted into an attribute point. Player receives +1 Attribute Point."

Seeing the notification, Yuan nodded with satisfaction. Getting an extra point was still good.

He turned his attention back to his status panel:

Chakra: 266

Constitution: 145

Eye Power: 260

Vitality: 29

Nature Affinity: 4

Level: Lv30 (0/60)

Attribute Points: 2

"The experience requirement increased?" Yuan muttered.

He remembered that it used to take 10 points to go from level 1 to 10, 20 for 10 to 20, and 30 for 20 to 30. Based on that pattern, 30 to 40 should require 40 points. But now it required 50.

Would level 40 to 50 need 70? Or was there another growth pattern?

He couldn't figure it out yet, so he put that question aside and checked for other changes. It didn't take long for him to fully understand the upgrade to the text game.

First, the visual effects were far flashier. Second, the reward system now consistently gave attribute points and a chance to extract a character ability. Lastly, the experience curve had changed.

After sorting all that out, he tapped the "gift pack" icon beside his level indicator.

Two golden boxes appeared in his hands.

"Huh? Two this time? Looks like one is compensation for the 100-day wait," Yuan murmured.

He opened both.

One of them contained something that looked like a ninja scroll.

As before, the moment he touched it, it vanished, and a new skill was implanted in his mind:

Skill Name: [Life Return · Modified]

Skill Type: Passive

Skill Effect: Allows the user to rapidly replenish bodily energy through eating. Heals injuries, restores chakra, and accelerates recovery speed.

Cost: None

Note: This skill differs from the original Life Return—it removes the ability to perfectly control the body but strengthens the effect of converting food into energy. Food consumed immediately converts into chakra and vitality—soldier pills included. This skill cannot be upgraded, but as long as you have enough food, you can "lock HP" like Luffy.

After reading the description, Yuan's eyes lit up. This skill is insanely good! Just like Teleportation, this was god-tier.

If he ranked the three skills he'd gotten from gold chests so far, Teleportation would have the highest utility, followed by Life Return, then Insight.

It's not that Insight was weak—it was just that he already had the Sharingan. At this stage, its perception was enough, and Insight only marginally improved it.

But both Teleportation and Life Return directly boosted his combat power.

Let's talk Teleportation. Without it, Yuan could maybe go toe-to-toe with a standard jonin.

With it, he could catch jonin off guard and kill them instantly. Even against elite jonin, he could hold his own.

And Life Return greatly enhanced his combat endurance. Just imagine—you're evenly matched in a fight, and in the middle of battle, you pop a soldier pill and restore HP and chakra on the spot. How could your opponent not be mentally crushed?
