"You caught him? That's really great. That guy came in with a gun and scared me so much. He said he was looking for some documents. I got so scared that I told him where they were. But then he made me take some poison. He said he would give me the antidote after he found the documents. I don't know if he's carrying the antidote, but someone like him can't be trusted. Even if he got the documents, I doubt he would have come back to save me. Thank goodness you caught him, or I would be dead by now," Tracy said.
"He gave you poison? Don't worry. I'll find the antidote," Cris said seriously.
Tracy had saved his sister's life before. So of course, Cris couldn't just stand by and let something happen to her.
When he heard she had been poisoned by Huro, he became very serious.
But seeing Tracy staying so calm, he felt respect for her.
Most girls would've been too scared to think clearly. But even though she knew she was poisoned, she was still calm and steady.
Seeing Cris worried made Tracy feel warm inside.
Even if he only cared because she helped his sister before, she still felt very thankful.
Since her parents passed away, it had been a long time since anyone cared so much about her. Cris was a friend worth keeping.
Tracy wasn't someone who forgot kindness.
If that man was so desperate for the documents, they must be very important.
She remembered that she had thrown them in the trash and now wanted to give them to Cris as soon as possible.
"There's no need to panic. You can take your time questioning him.
Since he said he'd bring me the antidote after getting the documents, then the poison must take some time to work.
If the documents are that important to him, then we should get them right away. I know where they are. I'll feel better once they're safe. I'm worried something bad might happen to them if we wait," said Tracy.
Cris felt touched when he heard her words. Tracy was really too kind.
Even when she was poisoned, she still thought about the safety of the documents.
But this didn't surprise him. She had always been a kind person. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have risked her life to save his sister.
He really didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
His expression turned cold. This time, Huro had truly made him angry.
If Huro gave them the antidote, maybe Cris would spare his life. But if not, even though Huro was an important prisoner, Cris would not show him mercy.
As a member of the Special Forces, he had certain rights. Since the documents would soon be recovered, whether Huro lived or died didn't matter much.
But he didn't plan to tell Tracy that part. She was too kind and would probably stop him.
"The documents are really important," Cris said. "I'm sorry you got dragged into this. My teammate will go with you to get them. I'll stay here to question the man. Don't worry. I promise I'll get the antidote."
"I believe you," Tracy said.
Cris's words made Tracy feel calm, like a heavy weight had been lifted.
She wasn't worried anymore.
The other members of the Special Forces had already arrived at the jewelry company.
Cris gave an order, and Yifan went with Tracy to her home to get the documents.
Cris took Huro back to their base for questioning.
Once Huro was locked up, Cris came into the room and said, "I didn't expect this from you. You may not be that strong, but you've got some serious skills.
You stole important documents from a heavily guarded lab.
You even escaped from us. I have to admit, that's impressive."
"No need for small talk. You caught me. Do whatever you want. Kill me, torture me, I don't care. But if you think you can make me talk, don't waste your time. I'm not saying anything," Huro said coldly.
"You really think we want more information from you?
The documents you stole aren't with you.
We've already sent someone to get them, so you don't have anything left to offer.
But if you cooperate, we might let you live. If not, your crimes are enough for us to kill you right now and not face any trouble," Cris said.
"If what you said was true, then you wouldn't be talking to me. You'd just kill me already. Since you're still talking, that means I still have value," Huro said confidently.
"You're smart. You're right. There is still something we need from you. You gave that girl poison. I need the antidote.
If you hand it over, I'll let you live," Cris said.
"So you care about that girl. Do you really think I'd just hand over the antidote?
If I give it to you, I become useless. That would mean my death.
And anyway, whether I give it to you or not, you're not going to let me go.
So if I'm going to die, I might as well take someone with me," Huro said.
"We in the Special Forces keep our promises.
We're not liars like you. If I say we'll spare you, then we will," Cris said, starting to lose patience.
"Looks like that girl means a lot to you. Do you like her?
If so, I really won big this time.
If I can take down the girl you care about, then my life was worth it," Huro said with a smile.
"You think I'll keep talking nicely to you?
You've had training. You know what kinds of punishments are used on spies.
Here, I can let you taste every single one, and still keep you alive.
No one has made it through all of them.
So give us the antidote now. That's your best option," Cris said with a sharp look.
"You think I'm scared easily? Since I became a spy, I've been through all kinds of pain. A bit of torture means nothing. Just do what you want," Huro said.
Cris got very angry when he saw how stubborn Huro was. He had already checked everything Huro had with him. There was no antidote. If there had been one, he would have dealt with Huro already. He wouldn't still be standing here talking.
Even though he didn't find the antidote, he did find the poison that Huro gave to Tracy. He had sent it to the lab for research. He couldn't depend only on Huro. He didn't know if Huro had the antidote or not.
Huro felt very upset. Now he was caught, and the information was back with the Special Ability Team. He had wanted to send it back to his country so they could grow faster. That dream was now broken.
He felt hopeless. He had worked so hard, and in the end, everything failed.
He didn't have the antidote. Even if he did, he wouldn't hand it over. No matter how Cris tortured him, he would never give in. Physical pain was nothing compared to the pain of his hopes being destroyed.
He was too confident. He thought he could do it alone. That's why he failed. If he had asked his superiors for help, maybe things would be different now.
Maybe the data would already be back in his country. But now it was too late to regret it. He didn't want to involve more people from the organization. He was afraid they would be exposed.
It wasn't easy to place agents in this place. Some of them had hidden their identities for years. They couldn't be wasted so easily.
Now he knew he made the wrong choice. Even if they lost some agents, it would have been worth it if the data could be sent back.
His heart was full of regret. Cris's threats didn't matter to him anymore. Seeing Cris so angry even made him feel happy.
Cris had crushed his hope. Now seeing Cris angry gave him some joy.
He even had a cruel thought. When Cris watched that girl die in front of him, how much pain would he feel?
But Huro was wrong.
Cris and Tracy were not lovers. If Tracy really died, Cris would feel regret and guilt, but not deep pain. Tracy was someone his family owed a favor to.
Yifan came to Tracy's house with her. He saw Tracy take the document out of the trash can and looked surprised.
Tracy felt a little embarrassed. She said, "I didn't know it was something important. I saw something in my bag that I didn't recognize. It looked useless, so I threw it away. Luckily, the trash hadn't been taken out yet. Otherwise, it would've been hard to find."
"You've helped us a lot. This document is really important. If it had been leaked, the result would have been terrible. Please keep this secret. This is also to protect you. That criminal has teammates. If they know you helped us get this back, they might come after you," Yifan said.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone," Tracy said.
Yifan thought she was scared and said, "But don't worry too much. Even though they have teammates, we will catch them soon. Also, we won't tell anyone about your part in this. So they won't find you. We'll send someone to protect you for a while."
"That's not needed. I'll stay at home for the next few days. I should be safe," Tracy said.
Even though Tracy said that, Yifan wouldn't ignore it.
It was their duty to protect people. Also, he noticed the relationship between Tracy and their team leader was not normal. He couldn't let anything happen to her.
After Yifan left, Tracy stayed alone in her room. Then she started to feel scared.
Too much had happened today. At first, she didn't think much because she had just escaped danger. But now she realized the police had probably been watching her.
Even if they were trying to protect her or catch the criminal, she still had a big secret.
Luckily, she had been careful. Otherwise, her secret might have been found. That thought scared her.
She knew her secret wasn't fully safe. There were still signs someone might notice. If someone really checked, they might find something strange.
But even if they noticed something, as long as they didn't see her enter the dimension store, they wouldn't know she had that special item.
From now on, she had to be even more careful.
Right now, she felt lucky that it was raining in the other world. She didn't plan to visit the store soon. That lowered the risk of being noticed.
She also had to be careful not to bring out anything that would show her secret.
Her car needed to be dealt with. No one noticed yet, but anyone could check and find out that she couldn't afford such an expensive car.
Before, she thought she was just a normal person. Even if she had a nice car, as long as no one looked closely, no one would care. But now she was pulled into this mess.
Even she didn't believe the police wouldn't look into her now.
