Chapter 52 - Chapter 52:"The Moment Our Lips Met"

The rooftop still sparkled with soft fairy lights, the quiet of the night wrapping them in a delicate bubble.

Lucifer and Eliza sat close, wrapped in blankets, the leftover warmth of laughter lingering between them.

Eliza nibbled at her cupcake while Lucifer watched her, a fond smile tugging at his lips.

"Better now?" he asked.

She glanced at him, cheeks full. "You still ruined our first kiss, by the way."

He chuckled. "You sure it wasn't your dramatic stomach?"

She swallowed and gave him a playful shove. "I was nervous, okay?"

Lucifer's smile softened as he looked at her — his gaze dropping to her lips. "Me too."

They sat in a quiet, fluttering pause. Hearts beating in sync.

"Can I kiss you now?" Lucifer whispered.

Eliza didn't speak. She just nodded, holding her breath.

Lucifer leaned in, his hand brushing hers, then softly curling around it.

"Are you sure?" he murmured. "Because once I kiss you… my heart's going to be completely out of my control."

Eliza pulled him even closer.

And then—finally—his lips met hers.

Soft. Careful. Like he was touching something fragile and precious.

She melted.

The kiss deepened just a little—

A quiet inhale.

A shared warmth.

The cold night forgotten.

His other hand slid to the back of her neck, holding her close, while her fingers found his hoodie, clutching gently.

Time. Stopped.

When they finally pulled apart, their foreheads rested together, breath mingling.

"You're really mine now," he whispered, eyes fluttering open.

"I've always been," she breathed back.

"But now it's official," Lucifer said with a grin.

He leaned in again, pressing a short, sweet kiss to her lips — like he couldn't help himself.

"You taste like frosting," he smirked.

She laughed, nose scrunching. "And you taste like nerves."

Lucifer tilted his head, mischief dancing in his eyes.

"So… do I get another kiss? Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke?"

Eliza turned to him, smirking. "Greedy."

He grinned. "Only for you."

She leaned in again, whispering against his lips, "Then earn it."

And just like that, they kissed again — slower this time. Deeper. Surer.

Lucifer murmured, pressing his forehead to hers, "That was... better than I imagined."

She smiled shyly. "You've imagined it?"

He smirked. "Countless times."

She blushed, burying her face in his hoodie. "Shut up."

"Nope. Not anymore," he said, arms wrapping tighter around her. "You're mine now. I'm never shutting up about it."

She laughed softly against his chest, feeling more full and light than ever.

They sat like that, tangled together beneath the fairy lights and winter stars—

No more fear. No more waiting. Just love.

Just them.

And one perfect kiss that started it all.

---

Later that cold night, Lucifer helped her climb back in through the window.

"Here you go, birthday girl. Safe and sound. No murders happened," he teased.

Eliza giggled, her heart still fluttering.

Lucifer grinned. "Okay, now sleep well… and dream of me."

She nodded, a little disappointed that their perfect night had to end.

"Wait…" he paused. "Before I go—can I get a goodnight kiss?"

Eliza laughed shyly, then stood on her toes and kissed him—soft and quick, like a secret only the stars could hear.

Lucifer beamed. "Yep. Totally worth freezing for."

And just like that, he vanished into the night, leaving her cheeks pink and her heart floating.

---

The next morning, Eliza woke up smiling.

She touched her lips, just to check—

Was it real?

Then she rolled onto her bed and squealed into her pillow.

It happened.

At school, everything felt brighter. Lighter. Her steps almost floating.

Until Ava swooped in at her locker like a caffeinated hurricane.

"SPILL. The. Tea!" Ava demanded. "Did something happen? Did you two kiss?!"

Eliza's face turned tomato-red.

She didn't answer—

She didn't have to.

Ava gasped. Then squealed.

"FINALLY! My poor, love-sick bestie had her first kiss with her long-time dreamboat!"

She dramatically looped her arm around Eliza.

"Do you feel different? Is the sky bluer? Did birds sing your name this morning?"

Eliza groaned. "Avaaaa, stop!"

Before Ava could yell any louder, Eliza escaped to the classroom.

Of course, she and Lucifer sat together like always… casually.

But their eyes kept giving them away.

Soft glances. Secret smiles. Silent blushes.

After lunch, Lucifer headed to the gym for practice.

Eliza, however, found herself in the library — pretending to read, but her heart wasn't in it.

She was just about to go "accidentally" pass by the gym…

When a voice spoke behind her.

"Cute necklace," Lucifer said softly. "Where'd you get it?"

Eliza turned, giving him a sideways glare and a twitch of her lips. "Some guy. Tall. Annoying. Thinks he's charming."

Lucifer leaned closer, lowering his voice. "Is he… insanely good-looking?"

"Hmph. Decently tolerable," she teased.

He chuckled and reached out, gently touching the pendant. His fingers brushed her skin, sending a shiver down her spine.

"I like seeing this on you," he murmured. "Makes me want to pin a sign on your back that says 'Taken. By Me. Forever.'"

He whispered the last part close to her ear, his lips almost brushing it.

Eliza's cheeks flushed crimson.

Lucifer smirked. "You look even cuter when you blush like that."

"Oh, stop it, Lucifer," she mumbled, hiding her face.

He sat beside her, leaning close again. "I warned you," he said with a grin. "I'm not shutting up. Or backing off."

Eliza let out a huffy sigh, her cheeks still warm.

Lucifer laughed — and adored her more for it.

And there they sat—

A girl who had waited forever.

And the boy who finally, finally saw her.

To be continued....
