'Interesting.'
Helion thought as he watched the drones emerge from his cave. He had been here for a few hours, perhaps 15 or more, standing at the mouth of the cave watching the world through the storm.
As was his custom, he sent several drones to scour the world and in just a few hours he had a general map of what this world was like.
Like Earth, it was round and over 12 thousand kilometers across, but several places had scenery that Earth (his Earth) did not have. In some places there were islands that floated naturally without antigravity engines, small continental seas of vibrant colors that were possibly poisonous, deserts with silver sand and crystals, waterfalls that flowed upwards and more.
But what caught his attention the most were the natives of this world.
Perhaps it was a characteristic of this dimension or just something from this world, but the diversity it displayed was in no way inferior to that of the ancient federation of extra-galactic species.
From creatures indistinguishable from ordinary humans (at least superficially), beings with slight similarities to humans and others completely animalistic but still with human intellect and capable of communicating without problems.
An example of this type of being was a quadruped creature that seemed to be a cross between a 21st century elephant and an ice age tapir. With two trunks with small tentacles, which acted both as fingers and as sensory organs similar to those of moles.
Every second that passed was both torture and a blessing for Helion. As much as he strongly wanted to go to some populated place to do the initial checks, he was also cautious both in relation to this energy that "generated a phenomenon" and in consideration of those responsible for the drones.
At least the waiting time helped Helion come up with several ways to hide from these drones, or at least cover them up, while he made his initial observations and improved his hacking of the network used by the drones.
The pearl-like drones operated on the same scientific basis as his own, although the science behind them was somewhat different from his. Not better or worse, just… different.
But because they operated on the same general basis, it was easier to break into this network. On the other hand, keeping his presence hidden would be much more difficult. Hidden, not unknown, Helion was absolutely certain that he had been discovered in the first hacking attempt.
He then opted to simply install a program that would warn him of the location of the nearest drones within a 100-kilometer radius of him, so he could deploy his undercover drones and fool them more easily.
The diamond drone was more complicated, since it operated on a mixed basis of conventional science and another unconventional point of this "magical energy".
Luckily, his camouflage technique was still efficient with them too, but Helion wanted to be on the safe side. He never liked being interrupted in his experiments.
[Sir, the initial machines are ready. Do you want to start the base implementation now?]
"Please Ajar"
[Understood]
Soon, several construction drones, some humanoid, others with the appearance of various machines, from simple to heavy, in addition to the supervision drones (the same as the ones he had sent around the world, only a little bigger), came out of the portal and began to cut and break the cave, widening it to be the new residence of their master.
"How long until everything is ready?"
[The rest area will be completed in 2 hours with all specifications. If it is just a place to sleep, they will be ready in a few seconds.]
"I understand, thank you. What do you think we go see this world for a bit?"
"We won't go too far, maybe 200 kilometers around this mountain range, just to see what the area is like."
[Understood, would you like an escort?]
