Every few minutes, Davion looked at his watch and the time ticked away until it was lunchtime.
However, Claudia was nowhere to be seen and that worried him.
Where was she?
Had she suddenly changed her mind and no longer wanted to see him?
This kept occupying his mind, even until it was 12:15pm.
Usually Claudia would come before 12:00 but now it was more than 12pm and she had not been seen.
"Is she not coming today?" he muttered and checked his cell phone.
However, there were no messages from Claudia or calls from her. This made him even more worried, if something had happened to Claudia.
However, Davion tried to think positively, maybe Claudia still had a job. So he didn't have time to send a message that she wasn't coming.
"Should I call her? Ask her about her situation or something. But it'll be obvious that I'm waiting for her," he said in confusion.
He was having a hard time thinking clearly because his stomach was hungry.
Seeing that the lunch hour was running out, Davion finally decided to call Alex to bring him a tuna sandwich and a glass of water to his room.
After almost 20 minutes, Alex entered the CEO's office, carrying the order from his boss.
"Sorry I'm late. I was having lunch. I thought Mr. Davidson was with Ms. Ornella. She didn't come today?" Alex said as he placed Davion's order on the table.
"I don't know. I guess so," he replied as he took a sandwich and ate it. "It's possible that she's very busy today, so she won't come."
"Busy? But I met her on the side of the road near the supermarket earlier."
Alex recounted that at 9:00 am this morning he went to buy a quick coffee near the supermarket. It was quite a distance away but the coffee shop was Alex's regular shop.
"Then I saw Ms. Ornella walking out of the supermarket with groceries in her hand," he recounted.
Alex wanted to say hello and approach her, but she was still waiting in line to buy coffee.
Once he came out of the coffee shop, he saw again that Claudia got into a taxi and took the woman away.
Davion who heard the story could only nod his head. But somehow he felt uneasy when he heard that Claudia got into the taxi and the taxi took her away.
The man immediately fell silent, not even eating the sandwich he had opened. Alex who saw it felt that Davion must be thinking something about Claudia.
"What is it, Mr. Davidson?" he asked.
"It's nothing. I just feel a little strange. It's unusual for Ms. Claudia not to send a message if she's not coming. She would always texting me if she was busy or something."
Knowing that, Alex suggested that Davion try calling Claudia and make sure she was okay.
When he opened their chat app, he saw that Claudia was last online at 9:20 am. Meanwhile, it was now 12:43pm.
'This is the last time Alex saw her. That means something might have happened. She can't have been offline for too long because she would have had to keep in touch with her clients if she was busy with her work,' Davion thought suspiciously.
He tried calling Claudia, again and again. But she didn't answer him, and the phone didn't even say 'Ringing' which meant his call had rung on Claudia's phone. Instead, it only said 'Connecting'.
"It just kept connecting."
"That means Ms. Ornella's phone is off. But where is Ms. Ornella if she hasn't been on since morning?" asked Alex who was also worried.
Davion's chest was hurting more and more, so tight he felt. He didn't understand why his chest was hurting. But could this be a sign that something happened to Claudia?
"We have to find her. Clear all my agendas today. I'll go to her house," Davion ordered as he stood up from his chair.
"Yes, sir!"
"Also check the CCTV where you last saw Ms. Claudia getting into a taxi. I want to know where the taxi went to take her," he ordered again, then he walked quickly out of his office.
Alex always nodded, then called someone who he could ask to look at the CCTV on the city streets.
Without thinking, Davion went straight to the parking lot and took his car. He then drove the black car there, heading towards Claudia's house because his feelings were really heavy at that time.
'What if something does happen to her? Will I fail to protect her again... For the second time?' he thought at that moment.
As soon as he arrived at the door, he immediately knocked on the door and even rang the bell several times. But there was no answer.
"Ms. Claudia! Ms. Claudia, open the door! Answer me if you're inside. Ms. Claudia!" he called quite loudly.
Because her house was different from Davion's which had a large front yard, Claudia's house was near the path. So when Davion shouted her name, several people immediately turned their heads.
He looked very frustrated, as he hadn't heard from her for four hours. But that wasn't what he had in mind, not four hours without any clarity from her.
However, there were some nagging things inside him and also the tightness in his chest that he was currently feeling.
He had been trying to call her for several minutes, but there was still no answer.
Until an old woman, Claudia's neighbor, approached Davion and said that Claudia had not returned from shopping.
"This morning she left the house and greeted me. She offered me that maybe I wanted to buy a banana and she would bring it to me. But until now she hasn't come back," the old woman said.
"She can't be contacted. The last time she was seen active was at 9am this morning," Davion explained.
The old woman was very surprised, and asked Davion to find Claudia. He nodded and thanked her for the information.
His suspicions were correct, it must have been the taxi that took Claudia away and didn't return home.
He immediately contacted Alex, asking for the information he had told Alex earlier.
"So which information did I tell you to look for immediately?"
Alex replied that he saw the same taxi with the license plate at 9:20 heading out of the city center.
"It was heading towards an area that seemed to be outside the city center. But since the CCTV is no longer outside that area, we don't know where it is," Alex explained over the phone.
Davion wondered for a moment what place they might hide in after kidnapping Claudia.
From the phone, Davion could hear that the informant who was currently with Alex said that Claudia might have been taken to an old warehouse around there. Because there were many abandoned factories that were no longer in use.
"Old factories and warehouses? That could be a suitable place for them to hide her," he said.
"Then what are we going to do next, Mr. Davion?" asked Alex waiting for a decision from his boss.
He again thought of a big decision he would make just for a woman who currently had his heart.
"Call our secret team. I want them to check all the warehouses and factories outside the border of the city center right now!"
