Chapter 27: The Fragment of the Empire (3)
The mountain continued to rumble.
Apollonia and Uriel slowly rose up. They had rolled down on a steep slope at first, but right now, the ground beneath them was flat.
It was true that the Heart of Kalt did not burn. The volcanic crater was not particularly deep, but it was quite wide. From the outside, it was impossible to tell, but the inside was desolate, with almost no trees present. It was quite a stark contrast to the outside, where pillars of fire continued to burst out spontaneously.
“You were… you were alive?”
Uriel grabbed Apollonia’s wrist and pulled her up, examining her from head to toe to make sure she was okay. Fortunately, aside from some burnt clothing and the wound from the monster, she seemed to be fine.
It was strange that her clothes were unscathed, but Apollonia realized why when she looked down at herself. The old witch’s robe had heat resistant powers, albeit minute.
