The moon was large in the sky, hiding behind dark clouds that served as a veil for it.
Luna was walking slowly through the darkness. She needed to be careful since it was late at night, and as everyone knows, night is dangerous, and any kind of monster could be hiding in the shadows.
The girl wasn't afraid, however. Her steps were confident, even though she kept her attention sharp.
She walked through an alley and then turned at one of its corners. There was a wall with a large dumpster in front of it. The girl pushed the big dumpster aside, revealing that the wall was broken, as if an explosion had happened there some time ago, leaving only a hole large enough for someone to crawl through.
Luna didn't think too much and tossed the backpack from her shoulders through the hole, then crawled through it and stood up on the other side.
The air inside was thick and heavy with dust.
The place was an old train station that had long since been replaced by a more modern one on the other side of the city.
Luna's footsteps echoed through the space. She heard a few creaks and cracks coming from the darkness, and though her body shivered, she chose to ignore the sounds.
She could be being watched and might be just a few steps away from danger.
Even so, she had something to do in that place.
As soon as she reached the center of the station, she jumped down onto the tracks and followed them, going deeper into the station.
Luna did not worry about being on the rails.
No train would be coming through there.
"Here must be fine." She said to herself as she looked up. In the center of the ceiling, there was a large opening where a dome of metal and glass had once been.
Because the building had fallen into disrepair and no one cared to restore it, everything was destroyed, and the glass was all shattered, with only a few pieces of metal and glass hanging down.
Luna could see the moon from there.
The moon was majestic in the sky, like a radiant goddess looking down. The city was beautiful and glowing with its neon lights, but it couldn't compare to the natural beauty of the moon.
From inside her backpack, Luna began to take out a few stones with runes carved into them. She spread the stones on the ground, carefully arranging them in a circle around herself, organizing the colorful stones.
The symbols began to glow as they were placed in the correct order, and Luna started to softly whisper a chant.
Even though the old station was close to the city, the place was completely isolated due to being abandoned. The windows and entrances were all sealed with wooden boards and metal bars—no one outside could see the supernatural glow coming from the girl and the stones.
The girl smiled as she raised her hand, and as the final words slipped from her lips, a red beam shot from her palm and surged toward the moon—a crimson ray filled with magical energy that traveled swiftly, slicing through the clouds until it struck the moon.
For a few seconds, the world seemed to stop. The air was completely still, and not a single sound could be heard.
"It is done," the girl said, still smiling as she looked at the now deep red moon.
That was the Crimson Moon.
Renan was still awake in Luna's apartment, waiting for her to return, when he noticed the red light coming from outside. Normally, he wouldn't have paid much attention to it, since the city was full of red neons and other colored lights.
However, this light was different—much more intense than any neon.
He walked over to the window and looked out toward the source of the red glow.
Renan shivered when he saw the moon, realizing it looked as if it had been drenched in blood.
"What's happening?" he asked himself, feeling the magical energy that seemed to pour down from the sky.
"Renan...?" Wendy had woken up, too also sensing that sudden surge of magic.
The moon was drawing both of them outside.
But it wasn't just them.
Luna had started something that would make the night long for everyone in that city.
"I have a bad feeling..." Wendy said, hugging Renan's arms and staying close to him.
Renan didn't say anything back, but he also had a bad feeling growing inside him.
