Chapter 47 - Home

"Have you ever eaten something like this before?" Adam asked, watching his family savor the exquisite dishes.

His parents exchanged a slightly embarrassed glance. "We put most of our hard-earned savings into the children's education," his mother explained softly. "The rest is saved for the future."

"Just as I'd expect from my parents," Adam said, a warmth spreading through him. "Always prioritizing your children's happiness." He remembered their past life, how they had poured everything into him, even saving enough to secure his future.

The cruel twist of fate, however, had been his aunt's betrayal, forcing him to sign away his inheritance and kicking him out when he turned eighteen.

As the family continued to enjoy the meal, Adam made a few swift decisions. "I want us to find a bigger house," he announced, "and we should set up a shop here in the kingdom." He then dropped a heavy bag of gold coins onto the table, freezing the entire family in stunned silence. They had never seen so much gold in their lives.

"We're going shopping tomorrow," Adam declared, a wide, casual smile on his face. "We'll get everything you've ever wanted."

Alyssa and Alynna, their eyes wide, immediately launched into a chorus of "toys, new bags, new clothes, and shoes!" Their parents, overwhelmed and touched by his generosity, felt too embarrassed to ask for anything themselves.

"Rest assured," Adam said, looking at them sincerely, "you both have done your best for your children. I'm indebted to your kindness, and I'm repaying it tenfold. Just choose anything you want." He then added, "As a matter of fact, I wanted to discuss buying some land for us."

His father explained that he worked as a researcher for a potion-making school, and his mother taught basic healing magic. Adam then proposed, "Would you be willing to quit your jobs and start your own business? With your background—a businessman and a real estate agent in our past life—you have the knowledge to easily handle a venture here. You could register with the Merchant's Guild."

His parents decided to think it over. The next day, the children would join them to find a new home. Excitement buzzed through the small house as they finished their dinner before turning in for the night. Though Adam had a hotel reservation, he chose to stay, finding comfort and a sense of belonging on the couch in his newfound home.

"I've found a few excellent locations for the family after scanning the kingdom," Lyra chimed in. "And since you've unlocked your magical abilities, would you be interested in learning them?"
