Chapter 48 - Mastering magic

"Lyra, how far can I teleport now?" Adam asked, standing up from the couch.

"We can teleport straight to the Unknown Lands now if you wanted," Lyra replied.

Adam, with a determined glint in his eye, instantly teleported to the Red Zone. He extended his hand and concentrated, recalling the basic principles of fire magic he'd just been blessed with. A small, flickering flame appeared in his palm. "Let's see the full extent of my capabilities."

Mastering the Elements

Lyra explained, "You can cast multiple fireballs if you wish." Adam focused, and with a swift mental command, the small flame swelled, growing immensely. It pulsed with raw mana, its color shifting rapidly from red to green, then blue, and finally, a terrifying black. He unleashed it. The fireball erupted into a tremendous explosion, obliterating a significant portion of the Red Zone landscape.

Adam stared, wide-eyed. "That's... a lot of destruction. How do I control this output? I can't fight like this with innocent people around."

He tried again, casting multiple fireballs, each one blossoming into a massive explosion, barraging the Red Zone with devastating force. He then concentrated, trying to reduce the mana output, shrinking a fireball to a tiny, palm-sized flicker. But a sudden thought, a spark of immense power, ignited within the small flame.

"Danger, Adam! Set up the barrier!" Lyra's warning was urgent.

The seemingly tiny flame detonated like a miniature nuclear explosion. The ensuing shockwave rippled across the Unknown Lands, leaving a vast crater in its wake. Adam took a ragged breath, fighting to regulate his mana. Even with extreme concentration, his magic was still overwhelmingly powerful.

"Mitigate mana output using the mana void," Lyra instructed.

Adam focused, channeling his mana void to actively absorb and suppress the excess energy within his spells. It was a delicate balance, a constant struggle to rein in his immense power. Finally, after considerable effort, he managed it. He cast a fireball that detonated with a powerful but manageable force, akin to a standard magical explosion in the human world.

He repeated the process for all the other elements. With Lyra's guidance, referencing spells from ancient books, he used his refined mana manipulation to sculpt the elemental energies into various forms, even combining them. He discovered he could create meta, lightning, fog, illusions and many more by combination of elements.

After a few hours of intense practice, Adam was moving with impossible speed, a blur of lightning. He soared through the air on currents of wind, simultaneously casting multiple elemental spells and conjuring defensive barriers from pure elemental energy. He even created a sword of ice and fire, a deadly fusion unseen in this world, capable of slicing through mountains with a single swing.

He felt the training was sufficient for now. He teleported back to his hotel, indulged in a long, hot bath, and then, feeling utterly content, teleported to his new home, collapsing onto the couch for a well-deserved sleep.

"Adam," Lyra's voice echoed in his mind, "since you've now mastered the basics of all elemental magic, are you interested in exploring more advanced applications or perhaps venturing into other magical disciplines?" Adam exhausted from practice slowly fade into his dreams. Lyra voice becomes a melody soothing him to sleep.
