Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Dominator

Even though Tony had a bunch of questions in his head and really wanted to turn around to see that kid, the voice coming through his helmet quickly pulled his attention back to the battlefield.

"Stark, we need your help on Sixth Avenue. Another alien troop carrier just showed up over there!"

"Got it, I'm on my way!"

Hearing the prompt from Hawkeye, Clint Barton, Tony didn't hesitate at all. He immediately turned and flew toward Sixth Avenue.

Seeing Tony take off, Hawkeye took the initiative to ask, "By the way, what was that streak of light just now? Some new function of your suit? It looked pretty powerful!"

"Hey, Robin Hood, focus on your battlefield!"

Hearing Hawkeye's curiosity about that attack just now, Tony deliberately avoided giving a direct answer.

It wasn't that Tony wanted to take credit for what happened. He was just thinking about that "pencil case kid," who looked really young—probably still a teenager.

He didn't want to drag someone like that into this "war." Even if that kid might have been helpful in dealing with the alien warships.

Since Clint Barton was also a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Tony definitely wasn't going to tell him about the whole thing.

...

Back in the room with the big hole in the wall...

After watching the trail of jet flames as Iron Man blasted off into the distance, Luca wasn't particularly surprised.

After all, the whole city of Manhattan was being attacked by the Chitauri, and someone as important as him probably didn't have time to worry about a random kid acting a little strange.

Instead of worrying about Iron Man flying away, Luca was way more interested in the new 'Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes' he had only recently synthesized.

He switched off the dial near his ankle and moved his right foot a little but that sudden burst of strength earlier faded.

Surprisingly, Luca's foot didn't hurt at all—not even a little. No pain from kicking too hard, no sore muscles, nothing.

'It really is a science-fiction gadget... That effect... is just like something from that detective!'

In fact, the shoes didn't just make his kicks super strong, but they also protected his legs from getting injured.

That instantly reminded Luca of the description he'd seen on the panel when he synthesized the 'Power Assisted Kick Shoe'.

'Come to think of it, Conan really never seems to hurt anyone, no matter how hard he kicks something or how powerful the shot. He only ever knocks people out.'

'I guess I really should pay more attention to those gadget descriptions next time.'

Unfortunately, once a tool had been synthesized, even Luca himself could no longer view the panel information.

He'd have to wait until he obtained the "core components" to learn more about how his system worked.

Putting those thoughts aside for the moment, Luca glanced quickly out the window at the ongoing battle, then turned back.

Originally, he had been planning to talk to his mother about whether they should hide in the previously mentioned storage room or evacuate to somewhere safer.

After all, they didn't live on the first floor.

If one of those Leviathan came crashing through again and the building collapsed, even a storage room might not be enough to keep them safe.

However, when he turned around, he realised that Gina had collapsed to the floor at some point.

The prototype high-tech-looking gun she'd been holding had also fallen from her hand.

Luca rushed over to her in just a few quick strides and reached out to check her breathing.

"Breathing's normal… heartbeat and pulse are fine… no visible injuries on her head… and her cervical spine doesn't seem to be affected either."

Thinking further, Luca gently pried open her eyelid to confirm that her pupils still reacted normally to light.

"It seemed she had merely lost consciousness."

Then, Luca breathed a small sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness!"

He had just been thinking earlier how lucky he was to still have both parents after arriving in this world.

If something bad had already happened just a few days after arriving in this world, and he ended up all alone again, Luca would've really started to think he had some kind of bad luck.

"It's better to focus on keeping the living alive first!"

With that in mind, Luca tried to remember where things were in the house and quickly located the household's first aid kit.

Thankfully, the kit was still intact, and everything inside was mostly undamaged. He immediately began cleaning up and bandaging his mom, Gina.

He tried to wake his mom up by gently bandaging her wounds, which should have hurt a little, and using a few safe ways to wake her, but she still didn't wake up.

Now Luca wasn't sure what else he could do to help her.

First, he didn't know enough about first aid to determine the exact cause of her unconsciousness, and he didn't want to do something that might make it worse.

Moreover, given the current situation outside, it seemed unlikely that any help would arrive anytime soon.

Therefore, it was probably safer to just stay put and wait things out for now.

"If I remember correctly, this alien invasion by the Chitauri doesn't last too long... whether we get help in time kind of depends on luck now."

Luca shook his head helplessly.

After doing everything he could think of, he finally remembered something.

The prototype gun his mother had used earlier seemed to be emitting the same faint white glow characteristic of a "core component."

Looking around, he quickly spotted the gun he had left forgotten to the side. Picking it up, a pale blue panel immediately popped up above the weapon.

He looked around the room, then picked up the gun he had forgotten earlier. As soon as he touched it, a light-blue screen popped up above it.
