Adrian's cold, hateful stare bore into me as I entered the interrogation room. His wrists were bound by steel handcuffs, but the real prison was the betrayal etched across his face. Officer Bianca Pierce stood vigilant in the corner, her stance professional but ready.
"Come to gloat?" Adrian spat, his voice rough with emotion.
I took the seat across from him, keeping my expression neutral. "I came for answers."
"You'll get nothing from me." His eyes darted to the door, as if expecting someone else.
"Disappointed? Were you hoping Fiona would rush in to save you?" I smiled thinly. "She's gone. Caleb took her home after she finished telling the police how brave she was for recording your confession."
Adrian's face contorted. "What are you talking about?"
"Your beloved Fiona just claimed credit for turning you in. Said she recorded you because she feared for her safety. Played the terrified victim perfectly." I leaned forward. "She's quite the actress, isn't she?"
