The police station buzzed with activity as I watched Fiona being escorted into an interrogation room. Through the observation window, I could see her smoothing her designer dress, trying to maintain composure despite her trembling hands.
Detective Pierce glanced at me. "Are you sure you want to watch this?"
I nodded firmly. "I need to hear what she says."
Arthur stood beside me, his presence solid and reassuring. His hand rested protectively at the small of my back.
"She'll lie," he murmured close to my ear. "She always does."
"I'm counting on it," I replied softly.
Inside the interrogation room, Fiona sat with her lawyer, a stern-faced woman in a sharp suit. Detective Pierce entered with a folder and sat across from them.
"Miss Dubois, thank you for coming in," she began, her voice neutral.
Fiona gave a practiced smile. "Of course. I want to help however I can."
"Let's discuss your relationship with Adrian Thorne."
