Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: The Awakening

The party was still ongoing. Now, it had gotten more exciting.

Finn checked his phone. No messages. No missed calls from his mother.

He became bothered. Something didn't feel right. This wasn't how his mom behaved when he wasnt't home.

Has she forgotten?

Was she angry at me for going to the party?

No... It couldn't be. She was happy when I left.

He thought, staring at his phone.

Suddenly, a boy rushed in through the party door, his heart pounding heavily.

"Everyone! There's danger" he shouted, his voice shaking.

The music stooped. People who were dancing, shouting and laughing also paused. Everyone turned in confusion.

"What happened?" Peter asked—Finn's best friend stepping forward

"There's a fire outbreak at the center of the city — just after the roundabout!" the boy said, his voice was audible but trembling.

"Do you know what led to the outbreak?" Finn asked sharply.

"No. But... I heard someone said, they saw a witch hovering above the sky holding a woman's head"

"What?!" A girl who had just finished dancing gasped.

The room fell silent. Everyone began murmuring as they all fell afraid.

"People are running for their lives out there," the boy added, "Stone city... isn't safe anymore."

Immediately, Finn grabbed his phone and dialed his mom number to check if she is safe.

It rang.

No answer.

"I think, I gotta go," Finn said stepping back.

"Didn't you just heard what he said?" Peter fired back.

"it isn't safe outside."

"I heard" Finn muttered.

"But i need to check on my mom."

"Try calling her again" a girl beside Finn suggested.

He nodded, pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed the number once more.

No answer yet again.

Without saying a word, finn dashed out of the party.

Outside, Chao has taken over. People running around, having no knowledge of where to go.

As Finn ran out, He looked up and froze.

"What the hell..." he whispered.

The sky above was dark with little lightening creeping in all over stone city. He felt this isn't just a normal outbreak.

Something evil had come.

He ran home faster.

Getting closer, he saw the burnt smoke drifting from the roof of his house and little spark of fire flickering round the building. The windows was shattered, the door wide opened.

He paused.

His heart raced.

"No. No...this can't be...." he murmured.

"Mom" he called, then dashed in to the house.

He entered. Then, saw the mother laying cold and lifeless at the floor in the middle of the house.

"Mom! Mom!!" he screamed as he ran to her.

He knelt beside her. Then—he saw it

Her head was gone.

"Oh My! Who did this?" he shouted, his voice breaking.

Tears rushed down from his eyes as he grabbed her hands.

He sat beside her, everywhere silent.

----

Minutes passed.

His heart was still pounding, but his tears had dried. Different thought kept racing through to his head.

Am I dreaming?

What's left for me now?

Where can I go?

How do I take revenge?

He stood up and wandered around the house looking for a clue of who did this. He searched every corners.

He found nothing.

He looked at the wall without thinking, he then— saw the "X" mark but with strange runes around it shining brightly.

He moved to the direction slowly.

"What.... What is this? he whispered.

Before he could get closer,

"FREEZE!"

A loud thick voice echoed behind him.

Finn turned. He saw four men in black vest and armor who stood at the entrance pointing guns at him. Police men.

"Don't move! Hands up!"

"Wait... Wait! I live here!" Finn shouted.

"That's my mom!"

"Drop the weapon" one of them said.

"I don't have a weapon!" Finn replied.

One of the officer ordered by the sergeant stepped in, saw the blood, and then, saw the headless body. He froze.

"A headless body?" he shouted.

"He's a killer! Shoot him" sergeant yelled.

"No!" Finn cried.

BANG!

A bullet tore straight to the chest. He moved a step bakwards crashing to the floor.

"Nice shot there, sergeant!" One of the officer acknowledge.

Then—finn's body twitched.

"Did y'all see that?" The sergeant whispered.

For a second, there was silence all over the place

Finn's eyes opened. Now, it glowed red.

His handsome light face became darkened.

He stood up.

His back cracked, muscles growing. His once slim arms turned three times bigger than the normal. His nailes sharpened. Horn pushed out from the sides of his head, small but sharp.

"What the f*ck!" One of the officer muttered as he took a step back.

"What the hell is happening?" Another officer gasped as he ran back.

Finn let out a groaning roar and the ground beneath him cracked.

"You... You killed me" pointing to the police men.

"Y'all will die" he growled.

"FIRE!!!" the sergeant ordered.

All four men opened fire, bullets rained down.

But nothing happened.

The moment they hit finn's skin, they bounced off.

He didn't flinch. He just stood there...staring.

"Cease fire!!" sergeant commanded.

He noticed the bullets isn't doing anything to finn. Rather it made finn's body glowing rapidly with energy.

Finn smirked. "Nice try folks."

BOOM!

He dashed forward like lightening. Before one the officer could fire back, Finn grabbed him by the neck and slammed him through the wall. The man screamed then went silent.

"What is he?!" One of them whispered.

Another officer turned to run. But Finn was faster.

He caught him, claws out, and with one swipe, he sliced the man's back open. Blood splattered the burning walls.

The remaining two officers panicked—the sergeant and the other. The other threw away his raffle as he took steps back slowly.

Before he could turned to run

Too late.

Finn grabbed his face with one hand and smashed it into the floor.

The tiles cracked. Blood oozed. He didn't move again.

Only the sergeant remained.

He stared at Finn, his hands trembling.

"Wh-what are you…?" he stuttered, stepping back.

Finn turned slowly to face him.

"You killed me," he growled, voice low.

"I didn't know… We thought you killed her!" the sergeant cried out, tripping over himself as he moved back.

Finn kept coming forward. Smoke surrounded him. The red glow in his eyes flared.

"You didn't ask. You just fired."

The sergeant raised his rifle again, screaming, "STAY BACK!!"

Finn didn't.

Bang!

He shot. The bullet hit Finn's shoulder. But he didn't blink.

Finn reached him in one second, grabbed the gun, and crushed it with one hand.

He then, grabbed the sergeant by the throat and lifted him off the ground.

"You pulled the trigger," Finn said coldly.

"Now feel what it means to die."

His hand lit up with red, burning energy. The sergeant screamed as his body started to smoke.

And then—BOOM!

Finn's demon energy exploded. The sergeant's body was thrown across the room and hits the wall with a heavy crack.

There was silence.

The house was a mess.

Blood everywhere.

Walls broken.

Smoke rising from the floor.

Finn stood up, his breath heavy, he wasn't fully human anymore. His mind clouded.

What am I...?

Why does it hurt?

He fell to his knees, holding his head. Red energy swirled around him. He couldn't control himself.

"I...I can't stop.."

Suddenly, a loud voice echoed from the entrance.

"Oh My...Hope I'm not too late."

An old man stepped forward, wearing a long coat, bald head, white beards holding a glowing staff flickering with blue energy.

His eyes locked on finn.

Eric— The last witch Knight.
