Chapter 4 - Home

Oliver headed toward an old housing complex, but every house there was quite large—each averaging over 200 square meters and consisting of two stories.

This was a neighborhood for the upper-middle class.

In the past, Oliver's father had been a successful businessman, but he fell ill and passed away, and his mother failed to maintain the business—eventually falling ill herself.

As a result, they had become a poor family, and the house in this complex was the only thing they had managed to hold onto.

If their financial situation didn't improve, they would likely have to sell it.

Oliver arrived in front of his home, which looked older than the others, as it had never been repainted.

Excited, he started running—but found the front door locked.

After all, it was already quite late, so it was natural that his younger sister had locked it.

Tok! Tok!

"Mom, Emma!" Oliver knocked while calling out to them so they wouldn't be scared, not knowing who was knocking at their door.

Soon after, he heard hurried yet soft footsteps approaching, signaling that the person was still a child.

Click!

The door opened from the inside, revealing a small girl who appeared to be about 10 years old, with short white hair and reddish fair skin.

She gave off a sweet and adorable vibe, with eyes that always seemed full of curiosity about life.

"Bro?" she said upon seeing Oliver.

He patted the girl's head as he stepped into the house, which made her look slightly annoyed.

"Has Mom gone to sleep?" Oliver asked her.

"No, she's watching TV in the bedroom," replied the girl, who shared the same bedroom with their mother as they had both chosen the downstairs room, which only had one bedroom.

Hearing that, Oliver walked toward the room while raising his voice, "Mom, I failed to awaken, but I succeeded in becoming a Cultivator and awakened a powerful talent. I was even taken in as a disciple by the Head of the Association!"

He intentionally said this out loud, hoping that the good news would lift her spirits and make her feel better physically.

The illness she suffered often left her weak—so much so that even sitting up was difficult for her.

She wasn't completely paralyzed, but close to it, and needed daily medication to prevent her condition from worsening.

"Really?" Emma, who followed behind Oliver, was stunned upon hearing his words, but Oliver focused on the bedroom, where he saw a woman with long white hair who looked remarkably youthful, as if she were only in her thirties.

Her face was beautiful, with pale white skin and a slim, graceful figure.

She was lying on an old, large mattress while watching a small TV mounted on the wall.

Sofia—this was Oliver and Emma's mother.

Her eyes looked at Oliver, struggling to process his words, likely because they shocked her too much.

"It's true. Look— I have void power, the strongest power," Oliver said again before transforming his right hand into void.

With his 1% comprehension of Void Body Transformation, he could choose one part of his body to become void.

The moment he said that, his right hand turned completely black.

At first glance, it seemed like his skin had turned black, but it was actually the void in the form of a hand—something that negated even space itself.

His mother quickly sat up when she saw it, staring at his hand in awe and astonishment.

Emma had the same expression.

"Doesn't cultivation require a long process? You weren't cultivating yesterday, but now you already have cultivation? How can it be that fast?" Emma asked in confusion.

"Like I said, I awakened a powerful talent, so the Head of the Association immediately took me as a disciple," Oliver replied.

"Without talent, this wouldn't be possible." He smiled.

Had he not said this, Emma might have demanded that he teach her to cultivate quickly—something that was obviously impossible.

Besides, he was able to reach the First Stage instantly because he had absorbed energy from the Heaven Spirit Water, and his comprehension of Black Hole had immediately reached 1%.

He looked at his mother, who remained calm, but her eyes clearly reflected immense joy.

"Mom, I'm going to my room," he said.

It was already nighttime and his mother should have been asleep. She probably hadn't gone to bed yet because she was waiting for him, and he naturally didn't want to keep her up too late.

His mother nodded in response, allowing him to go to his room.

He left the room and went upstairs to the second floor, which also had a spacious main area filled with shelves full of books.

There were two rooms on the second floor, and Oliver entered one of them—his bedroom.

It didn't have many furnishings, just a mattress and a plastic wardrobe for his clothes.

Other than those two items, there was nothing else, which made the room feel quite spacious.

"I want to see the Chaotic World," he said as he sat on his bed—and a portal appeared in front of him.

Those who had awakened, or those who had become Cultivators, could summon a portal to the Chaotic World with just a thought.

Evylin had advised Oliver to only enter that world once his understanding of at least one technique had reached 1%—and now he had fulfilled that condition.

However, the Chaotic World was always described as a place filled with countless dangers.

Oliver was still seriously considering entering it even though it was his own desire.

"But..."

His eyes, which continued to stare at the portal in front of him, somehow drew his mind strongly, as if he were receiving a flood of inspiration.

"Why did I only just realize that portals are also a power of the Void? I can learn from this," he said.

He began to observe the portal seriously, which gave him deep inspiration to understand the Black Hole and his techniques.

The Black Hole hidden within his body was still small, so it couldn't even be brought out, but observing the portal allowed him to discover a way to expand it.

As it grew larger, it became stronger and could absorb more Spiritual Energy.

Oliver became somewhat oblivious to time as he continuously gained enlightenment, and his understanding of the Black Hole truly deepened further alongside the Void Step, a technique for moving within the void.

He even began to find ways to control the void hidden around him.
