Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

GET UP!"

"Get up, now. Miss Serafina." I know that voice anywhere. Riven. But even he wouldn't dare wake me at this hour. I stirred, squeezing my eyes shut, hoping he'd go away. He didn't.

"Sera, get the fuck up right now. We're under attack."

"WHAT?" I yelled, my eyelids snapping open, and the sleep immediately leaving my eyes.

"House Varkaryn has been BREACHED! We need to leave now."

"That's impossible. How could they have possibly gotten in? House Varkaryn is basically impenetrable." I screamed, throwing the thick covers off and grabbing the shotgun by my nightstand.

"Well, they found a way, and they're quickly advancing into the King's court. WE NEED TO LEAVE."

Riven has always been quick on his feet and with his hands. That's the one thing I love about him. But this is different. I've never seen him like this. It's almost like he's afraid. This is bad.

"What are the stats?" I ask, slipping on my mission suit, which is essentially a whole lot of leather and a bulletproof vest that I've basically lived with all my life.

"They're currently in the 2nd tier of the first wall. No response from the men stationed beyond that point."

Damn it. I need to think, and the blaring sirens are not helping.

"LILIANA!" I yelled, startling myself a little.

"Yes, general." She answers, not even a heartbeat later. She's been stationed at my door since we were little as my assistant and bodyguard.

"Listen to me closely. Engage all self-defense systems. Activate the firewall between all tiers and the King's Court. Duplicate and delete all files in the central processor." They can't get their filthy hands on all the House files. I won't let them.

'Understood, general."

Riven and I will take care of everything else."

"Let me come with you. You know I kill best under pressure," she said with one of her killer smirks. Literally.

"I know better than anyone, but right now I can only trust you to take care of this. And fast!"

'Alright, then. Spill some Crimson blood for me, will you?"

"You're so bad." Rolling my eyes, I strap my second shotgun to my other thigh while clipping bullet rounds to my torso. My dangerously sharp daggers stationed at my ankles, ready to be used. I always feel sexiest when I'm all dolled up.

"Riven, alert all the men in the king's court. Tell them The Serevyn summons them."

Liliana leaves my dimly lit room into my office, where all the files are kept, while Riven reloads his gun as we race down into the Main Hall.

"Gather yourselves into the main hall. Every man you can find. Let them know that we're at war. Kill every Crimson on sight. To the men in the King's Court, The Serevyn calls."

Hearing my alias from Riven's mouth sent shivers down my spine, which it shouldn't, I know, because I earned my name, The Unholy One. I loved hearing it. It made me feel strong, violent, exactly what I needed to survive in this world.

"Miss Serafina, they're all waiting for you now," Riven said, standing right in front of the large mahogany doors which lead to the Main hall, the breach lights painting all possible surfaces red. The smell of death filled the wide hallways.

Deep breaths.

"Open the doors," I tell Riven, and he does with what I think is a look of pride on his face.

Only the best of my fighters are stationed at the king's court for maximum protection. Riven swung the large doors open, and I felt chills looking at the sheer number of people gathered at my command.

Loud cheers filled the room the second I stepped in, exciting me much more than normal. These were my men, and today I would show them what it meant to be a true leader.

I lifted a fist, and the room quieted almost instantly.

Men. women. Weapons! We have been breached by none other than those bastard Crimson. They've crossed beyond the 2nd tier and are heading straight for the King's Court. For many years, we've tolerated their bullshit and let them roam uncontrolled. I believe it's time to put some heads on pikes."

"YEEAAHHH!!" they cheered in unison.

"Stick with your battalion. DO NOT LET THE KING'S COURT FALL! We reunite here after our victory."

"Finally, I only have 2 orders. Kill them all. And don't even think about dying in your territory." I said, and screams of anger and admiration filled my ears.
