This man was confused at first, but then he realized that the girl who had fallen from the sky, no, her window, was the girl he had been admiring from down there.
Her sweet lavender scent eroded his nostrils and got him intoxicated in an instant.
How could she not only look as delicate as a flower, but also smell like one?
'She's as light as a feather.' he thought and he looked at her.
She was directly on top of him, so close with her delicate features standing out so much.
Her eyes didn't have any outstanding color and looked rather dull, but the rest of her face made up for that single lacking feature.
But to think she fell...
This was very dangerous. If he hadn't been there to cushion her fall, she might've actually died.
He opened his mouth, planning to ask if she was okay but then she raised her head and looked at his face.
His heart skipped a beat in that instant but she was silent, looking puzzled.
And then she started roaming her arms around his chest, causing him to feel uncomfortable till he watched her roam her hands over him, reaching for his chin and his face.
It made his heart race. What was she doing? Was she harassing him?
He never knew he would get harassed? He, the most prominent figure in all of Country X, was being harassed by a little girl.
How humiliating. If the others saw this, they would use it to make fun of him for life. He would never hear the end of it.
He decided to calm down, but wait. What if they were watching him somewhere? They were more than capable.
It made his body tremble. He had to stop this before they took any concrete evidence.
Those guys don't respect him one bit, despite his position as the head.
He began to tremble and then she said,
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He heard her apologize, her eyes tearing up, which confused him. "You must be hurt from cushioning my fall. I'll get help. I mean, I need to get help, but I don't know the way to the front door by heart, and I don't have my cane, so please, hang in there a bit." She pressed her forehead on his chest.
What was she saying?
He was hurt?
He was completely fine. Couldn't she see him?
It was as if she could not see that he was awake despite his eyes being open.
As if...
He took a good look at her eyes but she did not flinch or blink like someone who had come in contact with another's eyes, and it was at that moment that he realized she was blind.
"Please, don't die." He heard her say again, her voice shaking in worry and fear and this caused him to stop trembling.
To think she had been blind this whole time.
Then... Did she fall off the window despite knowing it was dangerous or... His eyes darkened as he gazed at the window above their heads... She had been pushed?
If she had been pushed then this was a rather serious offense. What was going on in this household?
Was it out of jealousy or revenge? He just couldn't understand how someone would have the heart to push her out the window despite her condition.
"Excuse me," he called, causing her to raise her head from his chest in shock but her hands were still pressed on his chest.
Just as and placed his hands on her waist, she flinched.
'She feels so small.' he thought but shook his head.
This was no time to be sizing her up.
"I wanted to ask this earlier but how did you fall?" He asked and she looked at him, confused
"What?" Lilah felt confused.
For some reason, something felt weird about his question. It didn't quite sit right with her. It was as if he was asking a question about something he was uncertain of while being certain at the same time.
Yeah, it was confusing.
But before that, she was more worried about him.
"Never mind that how are you doing? Are you hurt?" She asked, her expression frantic. "I don't think I need to ask since the distance felt so long. Did you hit your head? I hope not. Head injuries are very troublesome."
He watched her silently.
She was the one who fell out her window and yet she was worrying about him.
Was this the kind of person she was?
It was rather interesting to see a weak person worrying about someone who was several times stronger than her.
But maybe she didn't know that because she was blind.
"I'm perfectly fine." He said to her. "You don't weigh much and I only fell because I was surprised."
Hearing this, Lilah sighed in relief but then realized what he had said.
"I don't weigh much?" She asked.
"No, don't misunderstand." He said to her. "I only said that just so you'd understand that your fall was not enough to harm me. Rather, I'm worried about you. How did you fall?"
Lilah went quiet. She fell because her devious sister pushed her down.
But how could she say this to a stranger?
If they decided to take this to the police, there was no evidence and no witness. Plus, she was blind so it could've been anyone. If she made the complaint, she'd just be taken as someone who was trying to frame her own sister.
There was no way she could do that.
"I slipped." Lilah said and bit her lip, her gaze falling softly yet sadly. "I almost died because I'm so clumsy." She added, her voice trembling.
He watched her expression and immediately knew that it was more than her just slipping.
It was a window she should be used to so she wouldn't do anything dangerous. And he watched her lean closer to the panels so she wouldn't fall off by mistake.
So, even if she did slip, she would've fallen on the floor instead and not out the window.
He frowned.
"I saw the hand," he said, and Lilah paused, raising her head to reveal her teary eyes, which somehow jabbed his heart.
Why he was affected by the feelings of this girl, he had no idea. But he decided to do what he felt was right.
"I saw the hand that pushed you."
"What?" She looked at him, surprised.
"I saw the hand so... You don't have to cover it up. Even if you can't see, you must've heard their voice, right? Who was it? Who was it that pushed you out the window?"
