Fourth Chapter: Leveling Up (Part 2)

"Firestorm."

As the Chaos Elements gathered in large quantities, a dark red energy mass appeared in my palm. A few seconds later, when the energy was almost saturated, I gently pushed the energy mass forward. Instantly, a flame about one meter high and two meters wide erupted from the Ground, then twisted and split into several paths, spreading rapidly forward like snakes. It only took a little over a second to reach its furthest Attack range—about 10 meters—before disappearing.

"Yes."

I clenched my Fist and shouted excitedly. I think almost everyone has yearned for the bizarre, magical, dazzling, and Powerful Spells of a Sorceress. With a light wave of a Staff, chatting and laughing, they could either deal area damage or eliminate Enemies still far away. That Feeling of controlling everything is so wonderful.

And as a Transmigrator, someone whose mind had been washed by countless fantasy and Magic novels, I yearned even more for Powerful and flashy Magic. It was just that before, for self-preservation, I had no choice but to learn a few other Skills. Now that I had learned Firestorm, I finally fulfilled that dream.

Choosing to learn Firestorm instead of Summon Raven also had certain considerations. The main reason was that I was afraid Summon Raven would be too flashy. As is well known, Fallen have very keen vision and hearing. You can imagine how much Attention/Gaze flying high in the Sky a few Ravens would Attract. If they were to suddenly get a whim and caw a few times from afar, I wasn't sure if the Monsters in the distance would be "Summoned". Without Strength/Power, it's better to keep a low profile...

I believe the greatest use of Summon Raven is not for Attack, but for distracting and Attracting the Enemy's Attention. Firestorm, on the other hand, is perfect whether for killing Enemies or breaking through encirclement when surrounded by Enemies. Moreover, its spread Speed is even faster than imagined. Without preparation, I believe that unless one has the Dexterity of an Assassin, they shouldn't even think about dodging it. So, at this stage, I think Firestorm is more suitable for me.

However, that doesn't mean Firestorm has no Weakness. On the contrary, its Weakness is very significant, and it's fatal: it cannot be used after Shapeshifting. If I want to use it, I must first cancel the Shapeshifting. This makes me very depressed, because when surrounded by Enemies, I must first consider whether I can withstand the Enemy's Attack during the time it takes to cancel my Shapeshifting and cast Firestorm.

I tried Werewolf Transformation and then using Firestorm, but the Result was depressingly normal. It was as if the elements were isolated; no matter how much I concentrated, I couldn't gather the Chaos Elements.

According to Akara, the biggest reason Elemental Magic cannot be cast after Werewolf Transformation is that the Body's structure undergoes a certain Transformation, weakening the connection between oneself and the elements. However, outstanding Druids can overcome this point. With the transformed Body, they can forcefully sense the Existence of elements and then cast Magic. This is an incredible technique that requires long-term practice and comprehension to achieve.

In Diablo, there is also the concept of Proficiency. Proficiency is not like the proficiency points in Games that increase your Skill Level to a certain Degree. It is an intangible attribute that is very important for every Class Changer.

For example, the Firestorm I have now learned takes about three seconds to cast. With long-term practice and sufficient Proficiency, I could potentially achieve instant casting. The Cooldown would also be shortened, and Stats like spread Speed and Attack range could change. Ultimately, when you can fully grasp the principle of this Magic and use it as easily as moving your arm, its Power will greatly increase. Perhaps, you might even be able to create even more Powerful Magic based on it.

Transformation Magic is especially important in this regard. Although Transformation Magic has no Cooldown, its duration is not long. With the Bugged Amulet, my Werewolf Transformation can only last for 2 seconds right now. Although I can immediately cast it again after the Transformation disappears, the time required for the Transformation process will be the Druid's biggest Weakness. The higher the Proficiency, the shorter the Transformation time, and the smaller the Weakness for the Druid, making them safer.

After learning Firestorm, I couldn't wait to test its Power. Of course, I wasn't foolish enough to think I could charge into a Fallen Camp with hundreds of Fallen just with this Skill.

After wandering around the Wasteland for a while, a Fallen Camp with roughly the number of 2 Squads appeared In Front of me. I counted them: a total of 17 Fallen and 2 Fallen Shamans.

Very good, just right for me to test my blade.

I ordered Poison Creeper to charge towards the two Fallen Shamans, while I prepared Firestorm and slowly walked towards the Fallen Camp.

"Jiji, kill the jiji..."

One of the Fallen who were wandering around the Camp, facing me, immediately discovered my Existence and shouted loudly, raising the Cleaver in its hand in a show of force.

To be honest, I sometimes feel that the pronunciation of Fallen sounds a bit like a certain island nation's language...

The 17 Fallen immediately rushed towards me. What was subtle was that their initial positions were different, and they didn't spread out when they charged, so they formed a formation like a crooked, staggered "人" (person) character, one after another, perfectly within the range of Firestorm.

When the foremost Fallen was less than a meter away from me, and even the Small Knife raised high had begun to fall, my long-prepared Firestorm was finally unleashed.

A Flame suddenly erupted from the Ground. The foremost Fallen didn't even have time to let out a scream before being engulfed in the sea of fire. After the Flame appeared, it immediately split into several paths, spreading along the curve where the Fallen were most densely packed.

In just over a second, all 17 Fallen, except for a few who happened to be standing right between two fire paths and were grazed by them, were reduced to ashes, leaving no trace. If not for the few Gold Coins and 2 bottles of Health potions rolling quietly on the scorched Ground, I wouldn't even dare to believe what happened In Front of me. Looking at my Mana, only 6 points were consumed.

Damn it, if I had known that an Level 8 Firestorm was so Powerful and consumed so little Mana, I should have learned it first. Sigh, if that were the case, I might have already Leveled Up to 6 or 7 by now.
