Afterward, Ash continuously tried to control this power, but he slowly discovered that it seemed to only be usable when cooperating with Pokémon.

He also tried secretly running out of town to find wild Pokémon, but found that it didn't seem to work with Pokémon he had no connection with.

Ash slowly realized that this power should be based on some practice with Pokémon; at least, it wasn't something he could do with any wild Pokémon he encountered.

If that were the case, it would indeed be too overpowered. However, he also wondered if his ability wasn't strong enough, or if he just hadn't used it correctly yet, because he no longer saw the red glow connecting him to Pokémon as he did before.

After many attempts, one time the townspeople found out and told Delia. Ash was immediately blocked at the town entrance and given a good scolding by his mom, then dragged home by the ear.

She sternly warned Ash not to secretly leave town and go into the wild again. Although he was scolded, Ash didn't really mind.

Delia, at home, was not much different from a single mother, raising her child alone. Though strict, it was out of fear that something might happen to him.

So he promised not to go into the wild on his own again. Although in this world, adults could safely let 10-year-olds travel outside.

In their eyes, anyone under 10 was still a child.

There was no choice. The method of going into the wild failed, so he could only think of other ways.

In the following time, Ash would wake up early every day for morning exercise and running, trying his best to train his body.

Besides needing a good physique for becoming a trainer in the future, he also wanted to try honing his body to see if he could use or strengthen that power.

Based on the conditions of many special abilities, to use them well, one must temper oneself.

He didn't know if his ability became stronger, but his physique certainly improved. At the same time, he would frequently visit Professor Oak's lab.

He tried to build good relationships with the Pokémon there, and then tried to use that power.

He was surprised to find that he only needed to get familiar with these Pokémon, and as long as they didn't resist, it worked. Simply put, it was similar to raising affection levels in a simulation game.

Ash would frequently go to the Professor's lab, and Gary, knowing this, would also often go there. Although he was Professor Oak's grandson, he didn't actually live at the lab.

He used to go occasionally, but not very often. However, ever since he learned that Ash often went there, he also started becoming more diligent, often going along.

In the anime, Ash always refused to admit defeat to Gary, while Gary would act dismissively. But now it seemed to be the other way around; Gary seemed to subtly want to compete with Ash.

Of course, Ash didn't mind. Gary's behavior wasn't malicious. Although the two always bickered, they were actually the ones who understood each other the most.

Three Years Later

Unconsciously, it had been three years since he came to this world. In these three years, Ash slowly grew up, and with daily training over these three years, his abilities improved significantly.

It proved that this power was also related to the host's own strength. It was like in a game, if a Pokémon's level was too high, it would become disobedient.

As his own abilities improved and he grew stronger, this power also became stronger. When Ash tried to use this power, as long as he didn't maintain high-intensity combat for too long, he wouldn't feel as exhausted as he did three years ago.

However, he also realized that the more he used that power, the closer his connection with Pokémon became, and the more harmonious their cooperation would be. But naturally, the physical stamina consumed would also increase.

He had just celebrated his 10th birthday not long ago, and Professor Oak had already begun preparing for new trainers.

There was only one week left until new trainers would receive their starter Pokémon and begin their journeys. Ash had already signed up. This time, there were four people who signed up in Pallet Town, including Ash and Gary.

So, Ash had already begun preparing during this time. After preparing for the day, he had nothing else to do, so he came to the small river in town to fish.

Perhaps it was truly a destined rivalry and friendship; even coming out to fish, they ended up at the same spot. When he arrived with his fishing gear, he found Gary was already there.

"Didn't you go to your grandpa's place today?" The two stood on opposite banks of the river. When Gary saw Ash approach, a competitive glint flashed in his eyes again.

"Who says I have to go to the Professor's place? You didn't go either, did you? Are you avoiding me?" Even though it wasn't the original Ash anymore, after three years of living together, he was still accustomed to bickering with Gary.

"What are you talking about? How could I be afraid of you?! If you've got the guts, let's compete and see who catches a Pokémon first." Gary, upon hearing this, became a little exasperated. In these three years at the lab, the two had simulated battles countless times, from knowledge to practical combat.

But Gary usually lost more than he won, which was why he reacted so strongly when Ash said that.

"Alright!" Ash smiled at the sound, and immediately began opening his tackle box to bait his fishing rod.

Seeing Ash readily agree, Gary immediately began to act as well. Soon, both of them cast their fishing rods almost simultaneously. Ash sat directly on the grass, waiting patiently, while Gary stood motionless.

The Ash from the original series would definitely have been impatient, but the current Ash was different. He sat there as if in meditation.

And although Gary was often annoyed by Ash during these three years, it must be said that he was much more composed than the original Ash.

The river flowed gently, and the surroundings were tranquil. The two boys' emotions gradually settled. In fact, when they weren't bickering, they gave the impression of having a good relationship.

"We're leaving in a week. Have you decided which Pokémon you want to choose?" Perhaps influenced by the peaceful atmosphere, Gary's words lost their edge, and he asked out of the blue.

"Haven't decided yet!" Ash paused slightly at the question, then after a moment of silence, replied.

"Hmph! You're still the same, you're leaving soon and you still haven't decided, it seems you're not taking this very seriously!" Gary snorted upon hearing this.

He clearly felt that, although Ash had won against him many times in recent years, his personality was still as casual as before. There was also a subtle sense of disappointment, as if he were frustrated with Ash's lack of ambition.

But logically, after losing so many times, he wasn't in a position to complain. However, he just felt that way inside. Perhaps he thought that since Ash was so talented, he should make good use of it.
