Chapter 18 - Cyrus

Xerxes kept whimpering and whining, licking his wound. The students were staring. "What are you doing here? Get to class!" I shouted, causing a little stampede before the hallway became quiet as there was no one around. Aelia ran behind us. "Clarissa? Cyrus wait!" I turned around to see Aelia supporting Clarissa. She was sweating and she looked like she was in pain. "Is she hurt or something?" I asked. In my arms, Xerxes was also losing consciousness. "No." She replied. Turning around, I spoke, "try and get her to the car quickly. Xerxes cannot hold on for long."

The wound seemed deep. I took him to my car and put him in the passenger's seat. Aelia came out supporting Clarissa in walking to my car. They both got seated in the back. Xerxes shifted back into his human form and I saw where he was hurt. His left bicep but the wound was slowly healing. I rushed to the hospital. "Talk to me, Clarissa. You are freaking me out!" Aelia ended up yelling at her friend when she refused to answer her for the third time. Clarissa stuttered, "m-my a-arm. It hurts."

Xerxes weakly spoke, "I am so sorry for putting you in this situation, mate. You are feeling my pain too because you are my mate but there's nothing wrong with you." Clarissa frowned, "didn't I reject you in the morning? Why should I be feeling your pain?" Xerxes replied, "after rejection, the two mates will still feel their emotions along with the pain of rejection for a week. After, the week ends without them having any contact, they won't feel anything for each other anymore." Clarissa huffed, "are you being serious, you dog?" Xerxes whimpered at the insult. The rest of the ride was quiet.

Once we had arrived at the hospital, I called the doctors and nurses. "You better make sure he is fine or else, I will end you." I growled in the head doctor's face. "Cyrus, stop it, you are scaring him. How is he going to work with wobbly hands?" Aelia scolded me. I huffed and got seated while they took Xerxes to the dressing room for treatment. While waiting, Clarissa slowly fell asleep. "I'm sorry about Xavier." I gritted out. This was the very first time I was apologizing to someone for something I did. "I'm still not talking to you. Coma is a half alive, half dead sleep, he could slip into any of those soon. Which insult did he even use for you to attack him like that? Are you mad or something?" She scolded me.

I glared at her. "Here I am, unwillingly apologizing for something I feel no remorse for doing and you're scolding me?" Her eyes turned icy. "You, Mr. Cyrus Jackson, are an asshole." She stood up and walked away. I sighed. Women. Thirty minutes later, the doctor came out. "How is he?" I asked, standing up. "He is doing surprisingly fine. There seems to be something strange about him. We didn't have to stitch up his wound after cleaning him up. It closed at once." He reported. It probably had something to do with him being a wolf. "He is fine. That's all that matters." With that, I dismissed him.

I entered Xerxes' room. He was awake but he was staring into space. "Hey, how are you?" I asked. "Without my mate, I might die or turn aggressive." He spoke with a heavy sigh. I looked at him. "I don't understand how it feels." I shrugged. "You might not get to feel it because obviously, Luna Queen likes you too." He replied. Remembering something, I grabbed the stool and sat down. "That reminds me. I never got to have a chat with you. Tell me, you are not a human being and instead of being terrified, I feel normal about you being around us. My family probably feel safe because maybe I'm with them. I want to understand who I am actually. I'm almost like you. I growl, my canine teeth and nails elongate, I have a heightened sense of hearing, smell and sight. I started to notice these changes when I turned eighteen years. Why am I the only one in my family going through this? Why am I attracted to my sister?" I asked.

Xerxes looked at me, sighed and shook my head. "I don't know anything, Alpha King Cyrus. I am not the one to answer all your questions." He had got to be kidding me, right? Because at that moment, while staring at him, all I wanted to do was to get up, grab that empty head of his and rip it off his body. "I am really s-" he began to apologize but I interrupted him. "Shut up." I gritted out. I stood up, about to walk out when he said softly, "you are also a werewolf and you're not Mr. Jackson's son." I was shocked. I didn't belong to the family I had known my entire life?

Turning around, I sat down beside his bed. "Tell me everything you know." I demanded. "I don't anything about how you ended up with Mr. Jackson." He said but I just stared at him, eager to know who I was. Sighing, he revealed, "you haven't shifted into a wolf yet because your wolf is asleep. You became used to the thought of being a human being while growing up so when you were supposed to shift at the age of fifteen, for the first time, you couldn't shift. The reason why you are attracted to your sister is because she is your mate and you both felt the mate bond. You being the Alpha King of Wolftown makes Aelia, your Luna Queen. In Wolftown, the Alpha King and Luna Queen are both the highest authority. Like the humans have it in their royal hierarchy, you and Aelia are both King and Queen. If you really want to, in fact, you have to awaken your wolf because on your twenty fifth birthday, you and Aelia will be crowned King and Queen of Wolftown. Also, just like humans have criminals amongst them, werewolves have outcasts we call rogues."

I huffed at the name of the werewolf community. "Wolftown sounds too plain. We should give it a catchy name like Red moon, Black night or something like that." Xerxes chuckled at me. "Wolftown is all yours to change, Alpha." I asked, "so when do I start trying to awaken my wolf?" He replied, "whenever you are ready. It's just that I will have to take you to go and see our witch. She is capable of dealing with anything spiritual and internal. Wolftown is located in Ottawa, a city in Ontario, Canada. There's is a very cold town isolated from the human's sight, that's where we reside."

I needed to tell Aelia who I was and what we were. If possible, I could take her to Canada with me to see her future home if she ever agreed to be with me.
